40–49cm Dolls BJD Mermay Challenge

Decided to participate in a challenge posted by the_doll_realm on Instagram. The idea is to sculpt a mermaid BJD during the month of May, and the challenge is to have it to the test-stringing phase by the end of May.
So I decided to sculpt a mershark for my doll.
I missed the first day, so I’ve only been at it for two days, but here’s my progress so far:




It’s all still pretty rough, but right now I’m focusing on getting the rough “outline” together before I start smoothing and adding details.

Minor update on my progress so far. Unfortunately the original torso I sculpted wasn’t going to work with the tail, so I had to start over for that part. But this time I sculpted the torso and tail together and I plan to cut it up to make the joints.



Unfortunately I ran out of Apoxie before I was able to finish the tail fin, so I have to take a break until I can buy more. In the mean time I’ve been working on smoothing her out more. But at least she’s starting to look more shark like.
Also, she has a name now, Siren.
