Wearables BJD Cosplay Help! (Fullmetal Alchemist uniform)

    1. Wow, I'm picking one hell of a first project for my Florian, aren't I? *dies*

      Anyway, while I'm all set on the pants and the ass-cape, and I already have a white dress shirt (Florian's going to be cosplaying as Roy), I'm having trouble with the jacket and the boots.

      Here's some ref material for those of you who aren't familiar with the FMA uniform:

      Yes. So. The jacket. What on earth kind of doll pattern should I start with for that? Florian's a CH Ai boy, which is about equivalent to SD13 boy size. I'm also looking for Ai compatible black boots in about that height. Do they even exist?

    3. Wow, those boots are AWESOME!

      And yeah, that's a LOT of detail for a reason...about 1/5 of the FMA cosplay community seems to consist of Total Accuracy Whores who will pay $300 for materials alone, refuse to sew without at least 11 reference pictures (one of which must be a design sheet or fanbook scan), agonize when they can't have the exact number and placement of seams shown in the design sketch because it's not physically possible, and not think anything of injuring themselves or causing themselves extreme discomfort for the sake of a costume. (I should know. I'm one of them! :oops: )

    5. HOLY. @__@ I though I could get obsessed but DUDE! THAT SITE IS CRAZY XD It reminds me of fangirls that HAVE to have the same brands and items as their pop idols, rofl.

      The jacket reminds me a lot of Too's vest. Which I guess you could kind of make larger for a SD. :0... Well actually the cut would be different to get the flap on his jacket aligned properly (like in the picture) since if you folded it back so it wasn't overlapped it would have a diagonal cut I believe? It looks like it would, anyhow. o_o;; Maybe you could cheat and use another piece of fabric, rofl. It might actually look better that way since it looks a bit thicker than the rest 8D;; You'd have to add sleeves though. And the collar. Yeaah.

      OH wait you wanted a pattern, rofl. I'm so slow and sick today I can't read right 8D Well, whatever xDDD I hope whatever I rambled helps in some way. I don't know anything about doll patterns anyhow 8D;; *Runs away~~~*

    6. Actually, the idea of using a vest pattern and adding sleeves hadn't occured to me, so that DID help!

      ...maybe I should make a fabric store run today and start making some mockups!
