BJD Convention Adventures

Nov 12, 2025

    1. What have your experiences been like at BJD conventions? I'm seriously considering going to a big one near my home next year. I would love to hear your stories about the people you met, the things you did etc.

    2. I go to the sales floor one in Austin almost every year. Usually, looking for things for my dolls. There are a lot of clothing options, 2nd hand dolls and creators (dolls and clothing). I have a ton of fun and... sometimes spend a little too much.

    3. As I'm in Brazil, doll conventions aren't usually an option for me, but this year I had the chance to attend the NYC Doll Con and I had a blast. It was very well organized with panels, games, lots of artists I admire (and I couldn't afford to get a doll from each :sweat) and fun people. I don't know which one you're thinking about attending but if it's anything like that, I recommend the experience.

    4. This was over 10 years ago, but I went with some friends from my local meetup group to a BJD con. It basically felt like paying a lot of money to go to my local meetup, except there was a small vendor hall. None of us were able to connect with anyone there. I think the reason to go to these things is to make friends with similar interests. I didn't get that out of it, so it wasn't worth it to me.

    5. I love them! I attend DollCon Dallas and Resin Rose every year, and I try to add other events as well now that I only go to one anime convention every year. Next year, I’ll also be attending NYC Doll Con and hopefully BJDC in Austin, although the timing on that one never seems to work out with my schedule. ^^;

      There are usually sales rooms, panels, workshops, and organized social events. The sales room is nice since you can see things in person and try things on, but my favorite part is socializing with other BJD collectors. Those spontaneous social moments are the best part, in my opinion. There’s just something magical about seeing dolls and their owners in person. It’s like, “My people!!” :D Honestly, making friends is as simple as telling someone you love their doll. You might find people you have a lot more than dolls in common with, and even if dolls are all you have in common, that’s still great, too! I recommend going to one if you can afford it.

    6. I haven't taken my dolls to a convention yet, but I'm in the same boat as you! Next year I'll be going to a doll meet at a con and I'm heading to NYC Dollcon. Here's to hoping our first experiences are positive. :)

    7. Hope to attend a dollfie con at some point☺️

    8. i went to resin rose this year for the first time and had an absolute blast, i have a group of local doll friends i hung out with & i was able to meet a lot of new people as well. i went to a couple panels & a volks doll meetup, i shopped at the vendor hall a bunch, i had a booth at the swap meet & was able to sell a doll and some accessories & buy a new doll. it was also amazing to see so many dolls in person that i had only ever seen online before. i had a great time & while i know RR is a fairly large doll con & i was lucky to have friends going too, id still recommend checking out your local doll con if you can. if the area you live in has a doll con it probably has a bjd group online you can join to try and make friends ahead of time.
