BJD Confessionals

Dec 22, 2011

    1. We have all had those moments. You become so engrossed in something that you love that you forget about basic tasks that society views as normal. Maybe, you have developed an odd quirk from being in the hobby.

I would like to see some of them. Don't worry your secret is safe with me ;)

      Here is my example:

I remember my dolls' birthdays before I remember birthdays of friends and family.

    2. Interesting thread!

I was actually sad for a day or two when I realized I just missed my doll's first 'arrival/birth-day'. It didn't last long, though. I was mainly sad because I wanted to do a photo story, and when I missed it, I didn't want to do one because the actual day had passed.

    3. When my cousin was sheltering her child so much she started sending out letters to the family saying what we can't do around him, I almost sent her a letter back saying what she can't do around Loki......but caught myself before I did it.

I also buy or make cakes for their birthdays, wrap them gifts for the holidays and make sure each one has a bed/room to sleep in....

    6. 1. My dolls have their own closet that is kept neat and tidy. Shoes on one shelf. Folded clothes like shirts and cloth pants on another shelf. And a hanging section for jackets, leather outfits, etc on the top. Not to mention a hat/wig rack, and a dresser.

You can't find anything in my closet. And absolutely nothing is organized.

      2. My dolls get more attention than my cat. I don't neglect my cat, I just spend more time with my dolls.

      3. I got more crazy this season about getting my dolls gifts than I did about getting my family or friends gifts XD

I refuse to spend money I don't have or to use emergency money I keep for rent and other such things on dolls. . . so, in the past I have eliminated everything I could while still being able to eat enough from my food expenses for a month and for the past several months, I have put off buying a TV stand and kept my TV on a small table that is supposed to go somewhere else, so I could instead use the money for dolls.

    31. I check my order statuses daily.

I'm attached to my email like a life line. Where is my shipping notice!

I refer to my floaty head a "The Head" and I play with it like it's a complete doll. Half-dolls need love too.

I like the smell of my dolls. I keep them in a cabinet so they still smell kinda resiny.

I use the promo pics that the company has as backgrounds to various things while waiting; my computer, my ipod, my ipad, my phone all have a pic of either my Might or my Iraki.

I dress my dolls better than myself. I envy their wardrobe.

My budget includes money for my dolls.

I think I spend more time on DoA than is healthy.

    34. I have another confession...

For the last few months, I have been planning the purchase of a tablet computer for my personal enjoyment but also for important and practical purposes. Even though it is the one I really want, I ruled out the iPad 2 because of the price and have been looking at a significantly cheaper Lenovo model. Sometime this month, I was going to buy the Lenovo, though the thought of spending the money still pained me.
A few minutes ago I figured up that I will have enough money to purchase a doll I want that is going to cost as much as the iPad. All I have to do to come up with the extra money I don't have set aside for dolls is to further put off buying a tv stand (putting off the tv stand for dolls has been going on for nearly six months) and not buy the Lenovo this month, then I can buy the doll... that will cost me as much as the iPad I won't buy because it is too expensive... I was pleased and saw no problem with this until I came accross this thread- but I'm STILL going to buy that doll and wait on the tablet (and not to mention the tv stand). :?

    35. As for me, I have a confession to make:

For my birthday, my mom asked me if I wanted to go on a cruise or to Disneyland and get a season pass and I picked Disneyland because I wanted to be able to take my doll with me since I know he would enjoy going too. Also if I got the season pass, my other doll mothers would be able to come as well with their resin children and we can all ride the rides together.

Another thing is that now every month I set aside money out of my check to put into a savings account just for dolls and buying outfits/face ups/etc for them.

    36. I make spreadsheets detailing every last little cost of a doll, including those I know I will never buy, for amusement and to pass the time. Sometimes I wonder if I prefer the preparation and planning stage of buying a doll as I've done this repeatedly over the years, even creating an achievable budget, but have yet to actually buy a doll.

    38. I've told all my friends and family that in place of buying me gift cards to restaurants and clothing stores that I would prefer cards to craft stores or like the visa/MC/AmEx gift card, or if they insist on buying me an object or something I request fabrics and such.... i even told my husband that unless my next gift is a new camera I would prefer him to put the money aside for dolls or doll stuff (He said it was a great idea XD) I now I must seem horrible, but I am happier spending money on my dolls than myself unless I absolutely have to have something (like eye glasses, clothing that fits/public appropriate-wears things into the ground-, etc)

Cool enough, so we go and I assume we're having a great time until he points out to me that everything I had bought so far (about my whole budget for the day) was something I insisted my doll would love. Needless to say he hasn't asked me on a second date XD

I secretly want to buy everybody close to me BJDs, purely because of how happy they make me, but then I realize that my mum is pretty much the only person who actually wants one of her own.

I have full conversations with my boy sometimes, and it's not for a lack of actual people to talk too.

I recruit my bestie(who is also a doll collector) to have dolly parties just to spend time with dollies.

I spend more time with my dolls than I do my dog.

I have gotten psycho if anyone not in the hobby touches my resins inappropriately.

Also, I'm always very careful with budgeting money when it comes to buying things for myself and a lot more relaxed about spending money on other people (especially gifts for friends)... except when it comes to dolls.
