If I preordered Spade way back when, I should contact Donn in order to get the doll right? Are people who preordered Spade getting their dolls, then?

Oh man, I love your Steve so much. He always looks like he's up to something!

 

Pants came today. I paid like $9.50 for them and I’m glad I didn’t spend more. I understand spandex is a tricky material and the pants won’t fit perfectly. My issue is the least you could do is sew the fabric in a way that won’t leave two giant skulls right at the crotch of the pants. Her photos of them showed the skulls not at the crotch so I can be done....

 

Sorry @lookame that's awful. Hopefully you can find another doll to wear them.

 

Unfortunately I dont think anyone wants these. I tried sewing them for a better fit for him but I cant get over the skulls at the crotch and it's not like I could turn them around either cause theres 2 skulls same area on the back . Mini Vince is trying to work them, even though they arent for him lol. I think I'll attempt to figure out how to sew leggings myself and just sew leggings for Vince doll.I have a massive stress headache thats been going on for two days now.

Oh as upsetting as this way I did have some good news. Yesterday I got some scrap nails faceplates from quiet and insane. I love his nose and his chin line. The plates dont really fit on the headback so they both need work. I think one of them might get wiped and I'll try the skull faceup. If it turns out ok he;ll be named "Skulls" but well see

 

I would use those leggings for pattern you just need to turn them inside out. Happy to hear about the face plates. Congrats @lookame

 

Oh wow @lookame.Nothing more frustrating than getting something not up to par. Basic sewing dictates careful placement of design elements. Especially with patterns! I think my hair is grey from all the doll grief I’ve put myself through over the years. Oh, still putting myself through!

 

Yeah patterns are a pain sometimes, you don't want to waste material, but you have to be careful with where pattern is going to be on body. I prefer prints like splashes of color or geometric shapes, you get into anything with a face or other body part in pattern you want to be careful. I love fabric with dogs, but would never use it for pants, not even pjs.

 

I understand patterns are difficult, not every one will come out perfect and wasting fabric is a big deal. I just feel like...well ok if I were to purchase these from a store (for myself) if these were the only pair they had I would walk away because the placement would draw attention to my butt and my crotch and it’s not very flattering. When I bought them I was thinking cool it’s skulls perfect for him because he’s an edgy kind of guy. He’d wear the super tight pants in all the colors...rainbow, halaraphic it doesn’t matter. But then...these...oh dear


I guess you live and learn. I know now to buy holographic fabric and avoid clunky prints like this

 

It was a cheap lesson. Hopefully the seller will be avoided or at least that kind of print.

 

@animemom you said forevervirgina on Etsy pattern for the stretch jeans fits these boys with some modification right? I want to make sure before I purchase the pattern. The pattern says it has fits for doll chateau, dollstown 5 and 7 and several other dolls. The pair I have from her (when she still made them) is a stretch fabric which the jeans design was printed on. I feel like if it’s the right pattern then I could use it to make the leggings. Either that or I could try the tutorials I’ve read on here for tights. Lol

 

@lookame - Yeah I noticed that too, the head back was given as a freebie so I'm not sure if it's even the right one, or it may have been slightly warped. You don't really notice it once you put a wig on though.

 

@lookame I am going by the finished pair of jeans I have here. I have bought many from Virginia and I love the fact the five years fit Steve and Vince as had nothing else for them. I had the seven year ones on a fluke and so glad I did as nothing else worked on Nails. Buying a pattern will allow you to customize. But keep in mind that Virginia used a thin stretchy jean like fabric. Close to a cotton t-shirt fabric for the jeans. A non stretch fabric won't work and a leggings fabric may need some added measurements in cutting as you will need to surge stitch the edge to keep fabric from running. I would personally use an old t-shirt for first couple of pairs before buying fabric. Better too make mistakes on something that was headed to garbage before you spend $10 a yard on fabric. Good luck.

 

@Quiet and Insane its cool. I expected they’d need some work when I bought them. It’s kind of funny because the Steve plates fit on the headback you sent and the nails plates fit on the headback Donn sent. Im wondering if I should switch headback or if I should wait until I get the nails doll and just have the headback as a spare. There’s time to work on him though...and right now he’s just a floating head anyway lol.

@animemom thanks for the insight. My daughter has some star leggings which no longer fit and the pattern has worn off the knees I may practice with those....she has a few pairs. I wasn’t sure if the pattern is worth the purchase. As for the leggings material I don’t have a surger and I don’t think my machine has a surge stitch either...I have 2 step and 3 step zig zag stitch though....or a zigzag stitch with straight stitching surrounding it...it’s a nice machine but I’ve only used it for quilting and paper piecing.

I just had this image in my head that the vince sculpt is a glam rock kind of guy with his tight pants in holographic fabric and he has an affinity for skulls and casual tees...and black boots. I’m my head he looks pretty cool but I may not be describing him very well. I also was able to grab up an amazing hot pink iridescent wig for him so I think he’ll go between a Black with some hot pink and purple highlighted dread wig and the pink iridescent one. Steve is the opposite though. He has his brown hair and is super casual. Jeans, sneakers and vintage or character tees. He’s got an affinity for concert tees and gets one at each concert he goes to. He also lamanates each concert ticket cause memories yo!

My Steve is called Eddie and he's been in his blonde wig almost from start. He is a rich fellow thanks to his late parents, but he never felt comfortable with his mass fortune. So when he met Zoey a keeper elf and she brought him to the Fairy Realm he was finally had. He had a job, friends and purpose. So he gave away almost his entire fortune except for a few million in case things in Fairy Realm don't work out and has been in the Realm for about two years. He loves reading, looking at the world from a very different angle and if he gets bored Zoey will make him full human sized again and he can see what he's been missing.

Vince is called Zane. He was in his twin brother's band that finally had success, but after a world tour lasting over two years Zane had a falling out with his brother. When he returned he discovered Eddie had moved away, and only Zoey could get him to Eddie. Now they both live in the Fairy Realm and I share some of the stories here, but all are on Tumblr.

We've had visitors like Adam, Zane's twin brother, Logan Adam's lover and drummer, and Spike a dragon who tried being human like, but decided being a dragon was more fun. We also had an old friend, Elizabeth arrive to make Eddie think love was in his future, but she left as right now she loves her job more. Now we are waiting to meet new Fairy Folk. Lot more stories ahead.

 

@animemom your Fairy Realm sounds so interesting! Wish I could go there. I love seeing and reading about everyone’s characters!

My two guys (Vince and Spade) got shrunk down and are trying to live in a human sized world. It’s difficult, ha ha! I need to spend more time working on their story. Looks like I’ll need to get my creative hat on and do it! Now my collection of dolls is ‘complete’, I now have time to start playing with them instead of acquiring more. This will keep me from being tempted to get more dolls, spend my time thinking and doing!

 

Yes I have two more to pay off then no more. Unless a reward via Donn's Patreon. I have to get face ups, body work and stories lots of stories done. So going to curb the adding on as need to get everyone working here in some form or other in my photography.

@Eiko82 i got the blue spade hat and the pink iridescent vince wig last night. I was wanting a Mohawk but I had to decide if I wanted 1 Mohawk or a wig and hat. I chose wig and hat since that wig is something my vince would defiantly wear! I hope that black one with blue tips is offered again though!

I wrote this in a rush while my son was working on his quilt. I really enjoy reading everyone’s stories. I hope I can read more of them! These guys are actually the only ones I have come up with any kind of story for...well aside from June my first doll. These guys however have sparked my creativity. I want to sketch out my ideas for how they should look and such and Donn certainly helps with his amazing wig creations!

I have several dolls but only one fully done doll...nope jk the fairies are done all 4 of them lol. All my dolls live together but their stories aren’t intertwined. Steve, vince And nails are all intertwined and Joker and Harley Quinn are intertwined but that’s all lol *shrug*

@animemom when you said your Steve kept a couple million my eyes got so wide! Like dang how rich was he before!?

 

@lookame - Oh how funny is that? Maybe you were just meant to switch the two!

As for stories, my Spade doesn't really have one. He's such a different aesthetic to all of my other dolls that h really doesn't fit in with them. But I think he'll make a good travel buddy once he's all back in one piece. He'll be my little geologist/space cowboy.

 

@lookame Eddie's dad was a smart man who turned his start up company into a big earth friendly helper. You know all that plastic companies make into stuff and then when it cracks or breaks you can't recycle. His company will recycle it. He set up collection places at every household store and then has it shipped to his four locations in the USA. One for each time zone. His company reduces the plastic back down to a liquid like substance and creates plastic products that are used for a variety of items from boards to baskets.
Eddie basically sold the company to the people who work in the factories and they are now employee owned. They run it and Eddie took his stocks and such sold them for 40 million, donated 30 million to his favorite charities and 10 million is set aside as being in Fairy Realm won't keep him young or alive so he will need to see a doctor or dentist over the next 40 plus years.

 

I am going nuts trying to buy some shoes for mini Vince. He’s gotten three pairs of tennis shoes all to big (well two are one I’ll have to wait till they come) one pair I bought off Etsy which said the inner length was 5 cm, then I bout a pair of kish shoes off eBay which the ruler measured (in seller pics) around the 2.5 inch mark. The kish shoes were made for 16 in kish dolls. Now I bought a pair for 14 inch kish dolls. If these don’t fit I’ll wait for the socks I bought him and make the first pair from Etsy work. It’s a good thing my girls are casual and will wear tennis or else I wouldn’t have a clue what to do!

Also his jeans are on the way....with how things are going I would not be surprised if these are a bust as well....and his shirt never shipped so.....:P

The 14” Kish tennis shoes fit. I have a pair for my Vince. And, yes, the Toner Matt shoes fit well too, even with socks. It’s a tight fit with socks.

 

*sigh* I hope the jeans fit. I’m getting so frustrated :/ it’s not really the length of the shoes I noticed it’s that his feet are so thin and his ankles are so small and the shoes are made for dolls with thicker feet and ankles. I have the same issues with my doll chateau girl...

lol, I think he's put out with the rabbit peep because the promise of Easter doesn't always mean the dawn of spring/ warmer weather. In fact if you look closely you can see the Peep Bunny saw his shadow.... two times. One very large and foreboding.... the other small.

Well Easter certainly doesn't mean that for me either. I live in the Southern Hemisphere.

 

He's my only guy with an open mouth. One ear has already been eaten, but it doesn't show at this angle. I was busy concentrating on getting the shadow of the Big Peep just right. (I took a shot with it at the proper angle, but the photo was blurry - But not enough to be noticeable until post-production.)
So, Rusty is hesitating to finish eating the peep, due to the large, looming, and threatening shadow of a much bigger peep. The inference being that Rusty might soon get eaten himself! XD

 

@aernath well, it is a thought provoking photo. The ominous shadow, the expression on Rusty’s face....it makes eating an Easter bunny treat...dangerous! All your work paid off on that photo!

I really like these Bishonen House guys, and like all my other dolls, wish I could play with them more! I"m looking forward to the next guy in Donn's lineup, the one with the dreadlocks!

btw, I tried out a couple different pairs of pants on my Spade a while ago (before I got sick)... but can't remember how they fit *headdesk* I remember trying some Iple FID jeans... and I recall things being really tight over the calves... I'll have to try them on again. I remember them not being a great fit, but better than naked.
And a pair of pants I made from Batchix's posted pattern for her 51cm guy, fit okay. Really long in the legs and a little wide in the waist. All things that can be "fixed" for Spade.

Glad to hear your feeling better @aernath hope fun time can be found soon. I keep hoping to get on a couple of stories, but my time isn't always well planned.

 

Mini Vince got some clothes! So I went back and bought the 14 inch kish shoes and those fit well and I also purchased some pants made for unoa boys. They are loose around the waist but fit well in length and around his legs with boxers I think they’ll fit well..although idk where yo buy boxers that’d fit him. He needs a belt for sure.

 

@lookame I found boxers at Denver Doll in their underwear section. Also Dollmore underwear for MSD work well you want boxer briefs and I get the striped ones.

Lol I knew he was putting oddity up for sale and I’ve always loved skeleton dolls so I grabbed him. This will prob be the last sale I participate in for awhile though.

 

Ahhh man if I had the money right now I'd love to grab the two big guys he has up for sale. They're a couple of my favourites...but alas, money...

 

Yeah Donn didn't say if he would be open to layaway. I think if he is going to have such big guys available, he would be open to that.

 

I didn’t see anything in the sale I needed, but, wow, some really amazing stuff!

I got two more months left to qualify for my Patreon kit. It will be nice having a third BishonenHouse guy! I still am thrilled with my two. I need to do more with them!

 

I know he is open to offers on the more expensive items. I’m sure you could shoot him an email about a layaway and see what he says. I know $600 plus is a hefty amount to put down on a doll all at once.

 

Layaway is still off the cards. My work has been doing some very illegal things and has not been rostering me or paying me correctly. Earning $100-200 per week is not good when you're trying to pay off a house. If this goes on for much longer I will have to start selling dolls, my car, and report them to the fair work commission.

 

@Quiet and Insane oh, no! That’s awful! I hope you can get the help you need to take on your employer and get what is owed and fair treatment. Selling dolls isn’t fun, it can be heartbreaking. I’ll keep you in my thoughts, you’re not alone!

After several days of debating I made Donn an offer for vampire dean (I’ve loved him since the first time I saw him on the fans Facebook page) Donn accepted my offer and he’s painting him and finishing him up. He said he’ll ship probably Mon!

Mini Vince has clothes! I’m excited for that! I also got a case for faceplates, the bottom layer is sectioned off and perfect for each faceplate, some are longer for Vince wigs the top layer is good for a small amount of clothes, eyes, ect. Happy everything is in one spot now. I think I can even put the dean plates in it as well.

 

Thanks guys. I really hope I can get this sorted properly soon. The last couple of months have been horrendously stressful, I'm at breaking point in more ways than one. Just make sure y'all spam photos so I can live vicariously through you.

My Patreon sub is coming up June 1st and I’m getting excited to get Nails. I’ll have the three Bounty Hunters together at last. I just need a body for my Steve head, and I’ll be set. I’m debating if I want to go another year, or not. I don’t know. I have a month to think on it.

 

Well I've hit a bit of a road block with my work on Spade, but in the mean time I've been working on making him a wig out of some left over alpaca fibre. It very badly needs to be styled right now, but it looks so bizarre on such a cartoonish face.

 

@Quiet and Insane I’d love to see that wig on your Spade. Was it hard to make? These guys’s heads are so narrow. I’m relieved they come with a wig, as finding or making one would be challenging, so I admire your skills.
