Update: Bimong said he'll string my doll and send me an update soon. I said I'll check in next week if I don't get an update by then. I'm trying the "set a deadline and hold to it" method.
Weekly-or-so Bimong check-in: I asked if there'd been any update on my doll, and Bimong said he would have it strung by the end of the week. I'll check in with him again next week if I don't hear anything
At my last check-in, Bimong has said he is unwell with vertigo and not currently able to do much work. He asked for another week to send my doll out. I would like to believe this is the case, as I've had vertigo myself and know how delibitating it can be, and I'm aware it was poor health that made Bimong decide to retire, but I'm in the 2 year plus club now. I very much doubt my doll will be in the post before the new year – everyone is busy internationally, and the combination of sales, Christmas shopping and public holidays throws the entire global postal network into disarray – but I've decided that if my doll isn't in the mail by the end of January, I will be reluctantly asking for a refund.
My boy has been strung and is ready to be posted – it's a Christmas miracle! Unfortunately Bimong put my old address on the parcel – thankfully he asked me for confirmation, so hopefully I've caught it in time Edit: I caught the address error before the parcel was sent – hopefully he'll arrive not too far into the new year
The Bimong saga continues...the tracking number Bimong sent me on the 22nd of December isn't working. I waited until today to message him as there's so many holidays between Christmas and New Year that disrupt the postal system, but if the tracking hasn't activated now, it's concerning. I suspect he may have needed to get a new label after writing down the wrong address – the tracking number was on the label, not the box – and perhaps hasn't provided the updated tracking details. I messaged him today via Instagram with a screenshot showing the tracking number wasn't working, and he has seen the message but hasn't replied. It's a bit of a concern for me if I have a package on the way without knowing the tracking details as I'm going to be away a lot over this month to help a family member who requires medical treatment and major surgery, and if the parcel sits at the post office for too long (there is no postal delivery to houses in my area), it will be returned.
After an additional prod, my parcel is now on the way with a new tracking number and my current address confirmed. Finally, there's a light at the end of the tunnel. I'll be very glad to get my boy and have this process done with
I've been sticking around this thread to follow your journey as well and I'm very happy to hear it's ending! Please let us know if everything arrives safely. I hope everyone has gotten their orders by now.
It's finally over...my boy has arrived, and of course the end of this process couldn't help but being dramatic: later that day I had to temporarily evacuate my home because of bushfire risk from nearby fires, lack of power supply and extreme heat and wind (I have been able to return home since). He was well mummified in bubble wrap and as far as I can tell, he's survived the postal system without being opened by the Australia Border Force unlike my Narae (at least Australian Customs haven't damaged anything unlike when I've had parcels opened prior to them reaching Australia). I'm very pleased to finally have him and once things calm down a bit here, I'm looking forward to working on him Bonus picture:
He's home!! And he's gorgeous! Congrats! The fact that yours came strung and wrapped tells me Bimong most likely was being petty with me. I know I'm not the only one who had this experience, but geez. Oh well. I hope your situation improves for the better - that's extremely scary. He'll be waiting for you when you're back I hope you post pictures when he's all done up. Really curious to see what everyone is going to do with their big Narins.
@castironteapot - Congrats on your boy (and you!) making it home safely. I am happy to report that my Bimong Dandelion is finally home! Bimong sent the package on January 9th and she arrived on January 12th. He marked her as a "used doll" valued at $50 USD and proclaimed in a note taped to the outer box addressed to US customs that this is a gift from one individual to another and not for commercial use or resale. I'm not sure if that message did anything, but my package sailed through customs without any delay and was delivered to me via USPS Priority International (EMS) without any tariffs collected or imposed as far as I can tell. 2 years and 2 months is the longest I've ever waited for a doll, and I'm grateful that this grand journey has ended, and my doll collection is now complete!
