After bothering a whole bunch of people on social media I finally bit the bullet and ordered myself a big baby. I hope I made the right choice because I usually demand a lot from my dolls poseability-wise but these had an European dealer and the body aesthetic was to die for.

Finally finished a wig and a new face-up.

Also I think I need to style this doll in puffy sleeves. This tighter sleeved dress makes them look more bobbleheaded than another dress I have. Also need to get more dresses with a color scheme that matches the wig better. I want purple eyes but can't decide what shade of purple I want.

@zekarmisama She looks very cute in that dress. I think the hybrid looks really special too. That smile is adorable.

@Meggiekarp She's such a cute princess. I can see why you'd also want casual clothing but she sure rocks the ones she's already wearing.

As for me, I think I'm never going to see the big baby I ordered. The dealer is closing down and is completely unresponsive. I'm trying to get a hold of the official company to see if they even placed an order or just took my money. We'll see.

A little part of me is still hopeful to receive them but by this point I'd be happy to just see a full refund.

On that note, I'd love to get some more big baby spam going here in this thread. Anyone have any cutie pies to share?

I'm still drooling over all these gorgeous big babies here in the thread. I think I want to stay at 40cm+ atleast. So many gorgeous sculpts out there, not to mention hybrids. That's one thing I really love about the hobby. The versatility is through the roof~

 

@Siara Thanks! Ninodoll Bada is a head I kept finding myself returning to on my "maybe this one" list and I am glad I have the head now!

The versatility of the hobby is great and there always seems to be more possibilities!

 

What company did you order from? I'm so sorry about it closing, hopefully Paypal can get you back your money. It may be worth it to ask in the marketplace if anyone has that doll for sale second hand! I'll post you a pic of baby delf next to animator doll so you can see the difference in the baby delf group.

It took a Paypal claim and a lot of stress but my baby Santiago (nickname Iago) finally came home. This is a linked image of him with temporary eyes and a wig.

I need to get him a reddish wig and fitting eyes soon. These Baby Delfs are just so adorable. I love the size very much. They're beyond cuddly. It was so worth every penny and effort to get him home.

I'm sorry I forgot to post this! As you can see, the animator doll is all head! I lined their shoulders up so you can see that the bodies are generally the same size and shape, though the animator doesn't have a waist like Baby delf. Legs are no where in comparison though!!! Hope this helps!

 

Thank you so much ^__^ I do love him to bits. Those short legs are adorable but I get what you mean that they're totally different. Some items should be interchangeable at least.

The Disney animator dolls are close in size to Dollmore's Mokashura dolls.

@Allie27 I've known about them for a while but I've never ordered from them. I think their 1/6th sculpts are quite cute as well.

Just sharing a little Santiago love. He got his first wig in a few days ago and I've already ordered one to replace it ^__^; I'm so bad at shopping online, I wish there were physical stores where I live. He doesn't look half bad in it though. I might keep it as a back-up wig.

I'm already looking for a new BB to be her friend. Gotta get the concept down first.

 

I've been looking at BBs for a while now, and it seems like very few companies sell double-jointed bodies, with most on the "very chubby toddler" side of ages. Quite a few cute sculpts, but unfortunately not what I'm looking for.

Are there any bodies that:

• Aren't as chubby
• Have double-jointing not limited by chubby limbs, like Doll Family H's
• Thigh slits/mobility joints, preferably with knees-to-chest capability

Most companies seem to be allergic to even providing basic pictures of unclothed dolls, let alone ones that show their full range of motion.

As far as I can tell, Comi Baby, Doll Legend, Telesthesia & Dragon, and MYOU Doll's original BB body all more or less fit those requirements, but again, companies and lack of good pictures.

 

@Valor, maybe the Spirit Doll BB bodies would work for you? They’re less chubby and are double jointed, but you may need to ask owners about the range of mobility.

 

@snowgray The "Healing" boy/girl bodies, right? Spirit Doll's stock photos have the dressed dolls all posed really stiffly, so it's surprising to hear that they're double-jointed. Makes me suspicious of their poseability.

@nancy_schroeder_ca Do you still have your Spirit Doll Healing Basil? I couldn't find any pictures.

 

I do still have him! I thought I had some pictures but I couldn't find them today.

 

@Valor Here are nude photos for the female jointed torso body, female solid torso body, male jointed torso body, and male solid torso body. It's likely necessary to lengthen the slits on the elbow and knee (and top-of-thigh?) pieces to make the doll able to bring their knees up to their chest. Also, the dealer refers to these as DearSD sized, but they're definitely not as chubby as the DearSD body.

 

@nancy_schroeder_ca If you remember general poseability, that'll still help a lot too. If the body's fully double-jointed, I'm assuming that they're hidden peanuts, but I can't tell from the limited photos.

@snowgray Yeah, I saw the naked posed bodies and wasn't impressed, so I went looking through the dressed dolls for more variety. Alas. I also don't trust doing mobility mods yet, haha. Thanks for trying though! The boy body looks less odd than expected, actually looking at those photos.

Also, did Another Doll go out of business? I can't find their store. LoongSoul seems to have stopped carrying BBs too. It's a bit of an unpopular size, I guess.

 

I am SO GLAD to find this thread! BBs are so cute and I've been wanting one for my Iplehouse nYID's daughter for a little bit now, since the BID size didn't mesh well with how old I want her to be.


can anyone show a BB next to an Iplehouse SD girl? I have no idea what I want to do for a head, but I wanna make sure the bodies at least look like they're from the same universe.

 

Do you all think a M'You Mousse would make a good companion for a 5StarDoll Tony?

 

@Valor I see they haven't been mentioned yet in this thread or the BB list, but maybe the Dikadoll BB body works for you? I have two Dikadoll Dobbies now, so I can get you posing pics if you want. Dobbie is their anthro deer sculpt but they also have a few (3 I think) human BB sculpts. Here's a pic of one of mine compared to a Volks girl:

She's chunkier than an MSD, especially in the thighs, but she fits Volks MSD size clothing (tops, skirts and dresses anyway, I can get bloomers over her hips with some effort, I don't think MSD pants without stretch will fit) so she's slimmer than say a Baby Delf I think and definitely properly double-jointed. Also has mobility thigh joints. Her elbows and knees are chunky but give her a good range of motion, knees have locks so she can bend her knees at quite a few different angles. Torso joint also does what a torso joint is supposed to do, but it's kind of shallow, so if the body isn't strung very tightly (like with my second girl) the chest part tends to flop backwards due to the weight of that massive head. When strung tightly and sueded she poses quite well, but I have to say Dika tends to sand their dolls so thoroughly smooth that especially the hip joints tend to start slipping and turning. Also, I have to be honest here, she can't quite sit up straight enough to sit unaided. I plan to mod the hip sockets on mine a little so they can sit up straight. I'm personally not a fan of the size of the elbow and knee joints and I find her neck a bit long, but that's a matter of taste. Certainly a good doll for the price^^. Hope this helps!

 

@ShuriTigerH Thank you for the detailed analysis and offer! I don't need pictures, but can the body hold "knees to chest" without popping the joint out of the hip/while stably resting the upper thigh on the lower thigh? The lack of sitting straight is rather unfortunate, given the thigh slits.

I was actually thinking the body was kind of expensive, haha, but I suppose that's relatively normal for BB size. I'm used to seeing slim 1/4 and 70cm 1/3 prices.

 

I had no idea she existed but now I need her for sure.

 

@Valor I have to admit that's not the level of posing I usually ask of my dolls (most of mine don't have mobility joints anyway) so I had to go try it for you and, well...

This is as far as that leg can go without joints popping out of sockets and it won't stay like that on its own, so I'm afraid that's a definite no, sorry^^;; If you find a body that does meet all your standards, please post here, I'm tempted to get my girls better posing bodies if I find one I like. I personally love the sculpting on the Doll Chateau K-18 body Kid Body- Female K-18 – Denver Doll Emporium but that one might be just a little too slim in the neck for my girls. It doesn't look like she can get her knees to her chest either.

@AlmySidaKay She's adorable, isn't she^^? I didn't know Dobbie existed either until I saw the one that is now my girl pop up in the Marketplace. Just be aware that her head is 10 inch and she wears 24mm eyes!

 

@ShuriTigerH Thank you for the picture! Yeah, that's a very specific requirement, unfortunately. One of my first dolls (slim 1/4) can hold her knees to her chest with only a small gap, more or less (looser stringing on one side, I think). I've been spoiled by the mobility of that body.

 

Do Maskcat 42cm dolls count as big babies? They seem slightly bigger than MSDs.

I agree. Do you think MSD clothes or Big Baby clothes would fit better?

 

Comparing measurements, she is just a little smaller than my Myou Big Baby in most measurements but bigger than Holiday's Child. It seems she just has a small neck.

 

I have two Big Babies at this point and am planning another eventually (or may replace one for a different one). And I took a comparison pic of them laying down side by side. Left is a Luts Baby Delf and right is a Myou BB on the pear body. The Myou body is slightly taller! I even switched the heads around and they're not really exchangeable without mods.

@Cap'n I waiting on a MYou bb Sandra and have a few questions about the body. Is it difficult to find clothes? And the second question is about shoes. Are her feet regular msd? I’m just trying to figure things out while I wait. Thank you for any help, or advice.

 

Sanda actually has smaller feet than the other Myou BB bodies and I know someone with one that says they can wear Wellie Wishers shoes well enough. Regular msd shoes are usually too big from what I've found but I don't mind the oversized look personally. Wellie Wishers clothes also can fit but sleeves and pant legs are short and bottoms need to be stretched a bit. As for other clothes, Sasha doll and BFC Ink sized items fit them really well so if you need to fill out a wardrobe those are great to look into. There's a few seamstress on Etsy who make things in Sasha doll sizes. Just be sure that they're not make for the baby line. But for actual bjd sized items, they can fit standard MSD tops no problem. I had mine in SD sized shorts that were a tad big so I had to clip them in the back. They were SD13 though and SD10 might be a better fit. Regular SD length pant legs are too long though.

 

@Cap'n thank you so much for responding. The BB feet being smaller than msd is a big surprise. From the company photos they look like average msd. Ugh, I chose not to get the fullset as I knew that would be her only outfit forever as I would be too lazy to find something else. I really want to dress her in something cute, but casual. At least I’ve got time to do more research.

 

@kurogane not sure about myoudoll exactly because I don't own any, but I have an etsy store and sew casual clothes for BB. I can share the link if you are interested.

I didn't know 1/4 shoes were big for myoudoll, they fit telesthesia and xagadoll quite well.

How did I not know about this size before?!?! They are so cute! Does anyone know if the Xaga BB's pose well? I noticed all their promo pics have generic standing poses, but I'm curious how well the pose in other positions.

Hey everyone! Just splurged on a new dolly purchase and ended up getting the Doll Family-A 40cm Chubby BB body (those chunky KNEES )

Does anyone here have one and willing to share some pictures? As well as any general recomendations for clothing options if theres any store stuff that will fit (character will be a young male)

 

I have a Baby Delf and now a Rosenlied joined my crew as of this month. These two are opposites but good friends.

 

They are both so cute!!! It’s always exciting to see pics, especially different brands together. Baby Delf Faces are super adorable to me.

I’m in the same boat of “what fits?” with my Xaga BB (one month down on my wait for her! Woot!) I ended up just buying her some adorable purple high top converse and a couple of wigs (because they were both so pretty and I could not decide) but decided to wait on buying her clothes until I get her in my hands and can see how well she fits my other doll clothing.

 

My DFA body should be shipping this week the head will take a while longer but at least I’ll have the body to mess around with finding clothing options and testing posing!! Main problem is he’s a boy and will be wearing pants... May have to get SD and just hem them shorter maybe?? Unless anyone knows of amy companies that do pants on this size...

Update - got my tracking number from ACBJD, he’s airmail shipping so lets hope he doesn’t get stuck anywhere for ages...

 

Anyone have or know someone with the Akagidoll BB Celina? I've been searching for body pics of her for a while now and NO ONE has one. Only one owner on IG has posted one (and the faceup artist of the same doll posted the head) but you cannot see the body in their pics, and due to a language barrier I have been unable to ask for any. I even tried emailing Akagidoll about it and got no response. I just wanna see the body damnit!

 

I was wondering this too! I couldn't find any anywhere. But I did find some pictures of Akagidoll's YoSD sized body, and looking at the elbows and hands in Celina's photos, I THINK it's probably the same body scaled up (much like Akagidoll's 47cm and 66cm boy bodies are the same at different sizes). It actually looks nice except that I don't like that style of non-rotating elbow.

Does anyone have big baby jointed hands? I think one of the Doll Families makes them but I could have swore I saw another maker. Possibly Dollmore? Been curious about them lately.

Does Akagidoll scale their bodies to different sizes? I'm actually thinking the BB body is probably different just based on how different their other bodies look. And the BB elbows look rounded while that yosd body has more of a square shape. I didn't even know Akagidoll made yosd bodies and from what I've found searching it looks like they were only made in partnership with ElementDoll and only available via SpaceStudios? Can't seem to find those yosd bodies listed elsewhere, not even on Akagidoll's taobao (though I'm not that great at searching there tbh).

Thanks for the comparison photo! I've been interested in that Xagadoll big baby body for a bit. It's shorter than I expected. How is it at posing? I know BB tend to be limited but so long as a doll can sit and stand (and maybe a specific pose for that specific character) I'm usually not picky about not being able to do those complex poses.

 

@Cap'n I have an Asleep Eidolon Cordelia SP on the Xaga doll body. I've never posed her extensively. Her balance is really impressive. I can just plop her down and she stands rock solid. I'm pretty sure I could get her stand one leg with enough patience. She can also pull off a lot of cute sitting poses thanks to the swivel joints in her thighs. She's a very sturdy girl sitting or standing. She sits up straight with out flopping back and she can slouch nicely. As far as clothing goes, she wears standard MSD clothes. I have her dressed in clothes from Nine9Style.

Ooh! That comparison chart is to die for. Is there any way to get a copy of it? I've been making my own charts which are n nothing compared to your chart. I'm a little late to the Big BB dolls. He’s currently borrowing my girl's shorts and tops for now, whilst I look around for things that will fit him. They are a bit big on him but better yhan nithing! (the tighter fitting tops are actually yo-sd ones he manages to squeeze into)

No idea on shoes, his feet look really wide??

 

From my experience of a few BB, they tend to fit standard MSD shoes well. Some might be long but width should be good.

 

Dropping in quick with some appreciation for the help of this thread and a little photo of messy Appy. This doll size is so cute and special! She's been much fun to plop my amateur face-ups on too!

 

@Stokiaci Your Xaga review makes me so excited to see how my Xaga August poses in person! She's in shipping limbo, but will hopefully be home soon.
