A while ago I noticed that Coco Tribe released the first Big BB anthros I've seen so far!
Their website seems to be down and they're not listed on some dealer sites anymore, but you can find those dolls here in their Taobao shop.

I really hope we'll see more Big BB anthros or Big BBs with fantasy legs in the future... *looks at Soom*

 

I got a Rosenlied Limited Valentine Surprise Box dress and this wig Saturday! My second Surprise Box had a striped shirt, 2 wigs, a lovely set of teal eyes, and black mary janes that wouldn't fit the MYou chubby feet.
I found this amazing violin, as well as some other 1/4 scale quality instruments at a local store yesterday. I have to make a bow for it, though. They are from Broadway Gifts Co. ornaments, if you want to try to find them yourself. Very nice, all wood with real wire strings and tiny tuners. I bought a trumpet & an oboe, aw well. They also had an electric guitar, flute, and saxophone.

 

That is quite the violin. Having been a former violinist myself I am extremely impressed with the quality of that prop. The dress she’s wearing looks like it fits perfectly. I’m glad to see other people having luck with stuff fitting their BB’s across companies.

 

This might be a long shot but does anyone own a Spirit Doll Healing girl or boy to share? I'm a little curious...and by a little I mean a lot. They're so adorable. I've been looking into the MSD size but I have a weak spot for childish dolls.

 

I have a Healing Basil who I love! I am embarrassed to say I don't have a picture of him! I will try to correct that problem!

 

Has anyone tried using these thicker bodies to make a chubby, shorter friend for their MSDs? I have tried to find pics of this size next to standard MSDs but a lot of the existing pics are photobucket-dead. Can someone show me some good clear, preferably non dressed comparisons?

 

If someone doesn't put up pictures by Monday, I can take some then. I have a Luts KDF and a Volks DearSD. IMO, instead of a chubbier, shorter friend, it looks more like a normal sized person next to an oddly adult sized baby because of the proportions.

 

Thank you! I thought the proportions might be funky but some BB dolls do have some pear shaped hips sooo.. one never knows.

 

I don't think I've any non-dressed comparissons but, I do have 'normal' pics of my Xaga MiBobbie (BB 38cm girl) with some of my MSD horde crew.

It works for me, even thought the head is a bit big, but I think the wig covers that or at least lessens the impact. I ended up crafting a story around her, to support the head size difference and she's now a half-giant, wo asked an alchemist for a potion, that would stop her growth (not aging) and thus I'm perfectly happy with her among my MSD crew ^^

I want to share my newest girl. She's an Asleep Eidolon Cordelia sp. I adore her. I need to find her a better pair of eyes. These are so hard to photograph.

Very beautiful girl! I like her mysterious look Try other color of eyes. Can be light blue? It is probable to photograph easier such eyes.

Do Dollmore Illua and Alexia fit here? They seem to be chubby hard to fit little girls but aren't babies.

 

Yes, they are fine here! Many of the "big babies" are more like children!

I'm so out of it, I didn't even notice Alexia existed, since once I saw tiny Lusion I was all over Dahlia. Tho I do have 2 BB's at home my Illua and my Myou Matcha. I really need to get some photos of them together even though they don't look the same size at all.

I would love to see more comparison photos! I scrolled upthread and saw you posted a pic with Illua looking much bigger. I’ve been wanting the MYOU body since it came out and really line Matcha’s sculpt

@whisperwolf I just skimmed the thread from the beginning and was wondering what ended up happening with your Matcha pear body. Did you end up getting the BB body from them or were you stuck with the pear shape?

 

Oh, they ended up replacing it at no cost. Though I didn't think about the feet. The pear body had the large feet on and I had gotten the small for free, but when the original body came it had the small feet on. I like the chubbier large feet but decided not to worry about it. Thanks for asking!

 

Oh that's really nice they replaced it without additional cost! I actually didn't even realize the pear body and BB bodies have different size feet.

 

If I remember correctly, there are small and chubby feet for the smaller body and only one size for the pear body.

 

I'm looking for a big bb body for my Flower and Junior Mushiyi head! Anyone have any suggestions?

 

I just looked up the Mushiyi head size, and 6.9" is on the smaller side so I'd recommend taking a look at one of these:

Hi everyone. I am looking for a doll that could pass for a 7-10 year old next to my 60-70cm guys and recently stumbled across the BB size. I am having a difficult time grasping the scale, however. Could anyone with access to both sizes (a Dollshe guy, a Dollstown 7yr body and/or a 5stardoll Super Kid would be a huge plus but I’m not picky) could snap a picture of them standing side-by-side? I have a suspicion the heads will prove too large, but a hybrid with a BB body might work for what I am envisioning, maybe?

A huge thank you to anyone who could steer me in the right direction.

Not quite next to each other, but I did a large line-up a while ago.
The tallest guy is my Granado Evo.Uranus and my BB girl is the lady at the front, with the pigtails and the red dress:

Maybe that helps for the time being.
My guy has a 7-8ish head thought and my girl needed a 8-9 wig.
I might be able to take a pic of them side by side on the weekend, if you still need it.

 

Thanks for such a quick response, @Snowy! That picture does help, thought if you find you have time to take a clearer side-by-side picture I would hugely appreciate it. It’s looking like my first guess wasn’t far off, then- the bodies are in scale as a chubby kid next to the 60-70cm guys but the heads are too large and chibi-like? Hmm... maybe I’ll need to find a head in-between BB and standard MSD size...

EDIT: For future reference, what is the brand of the girl in the red dress?

 

@Havra It would probably depend on what BB doll you buy, but I think most are 8-9 sized? I'm not that knowledgable in that size tbh ^^°
But my guy actually has a small head for SD size. most are 8-9 or even 9-10. with your suggestionst thought (DollShe), I believe he's actually a good reference. DollShe is 'realistic' so the head should be on the smaller scale of SDs.

The 'in between' size is getting popular right now.
I also have a DC Xanthe (human), but her body wouldn't work out for your plans.

What might work with that BB body is for example the Practise head of DF-A in 'Msd' size, who doesn't fit on DF's bodies. If I remember correctly I did try the one of my friend on this body and it worked in terms of size, but can't remember the color match ^^° (Also no guarantees as I don't have the head avaible right now and it's been a while ^^°)

What also could work - if you can find one - are Custom House Juniors or Luts KDFs if you buy them on the 'old' styled bodies. Or Volks MSDs, they are a bit more on the 'massive' size?

Just bouncing some ideas around.

Yes! The Granado head is a comparable reference to my small-headed “realistic-ish” crew- like my Dollshe Saint, whose daughter this doll is intended to be. While I’m widely flexible as to her age (from 6-12 years old, even) I’m not sure if I should be looking at BBs at all or at an even weirder chubby-as-I-can-find 50cm-ish in-between size just to get... bone structure scale. Definitely can’t have a skull larger than her dad’s 7-8, but I am not afraid of modding an oddball head to fit a fat neck if the limbs don’t look too outrageous.

Thanks for the other suggestions! I’ll do some research on those sizes too.

 

Dollstown just released a new head for the 5 year-old body. Narsha from Dollmore has a smaller head of 7 inches.

I'm so glad the big BB size exists. I constantly want 1/6 dolls, but I know I'm not gonna like them because I hate sewing for that size. Sizing the kiddos up is like yes, perfect.

I haven't decided on which head I want yet though.

 

They have so much presence and personality too! Ellie (BDF Gabriel, in my user image) is my favorite doll.

Speaking of her, she fits the American Girl Kit rolltop desk wonderfully! I also have the AG Mary Ellen teal blue pullout bed sofa for potential big BB doll sleepover party photos. So in case anyone was wanting cute furniture, check out 18" doll stuff if you haven't already!

But that is good to know. 18" furniture is so much easier to find. I always want more furniture and props for my 70cm boys but it is much more difficult with them.

 

Sarako: I admit to buying 18" doll furniture. Ida (above, I posted) is using a table & chair set from the Our Generation line at Target. There is also My Life at Walmart, What A Doll at K-Mart, Espari Dolls at Barnes & Noble, Journey Girls at Toys R Us, Springfield Dolls at JoAnn/Michaels, and Dollie & Me at Kohl's with possible accessories & furniture.

Amazon has Hearts for Hearts. And Tonner has My Imagination.

Why there are so many 14-18" dolls I don't know!

Ellie is very cute.

 

American Girl made the 18" size very profitable & others followed suit! Our Generation has the coolest props & furniture -- they tend to be on the cutting edge, so to speak. Like they came out with a diner set far before AG did, etc. I'm an 18" doll geek as well so it plays very nicely with my love for the big BB size dolls.

There is often a lot of really cool custom work on Etsy in the woodworking category. Not quite as efficiently designed/packed as some of the Minifee type room boxes and furniture, but still worth a peek if you've the space!

Yes, it's evident that marketing 18" dolls that are cheaper is a trend. I love the Our Generation stuff! I bought a scooter and a horse (in actuality works better for a 1/6 doll?... not sure I don't have an OG doll) also. I like all the cars, carts, and deluxe clothes sets, etc.

What do you think of the newer Luts BB (Salvia, Violet / Marguerite, Lily)? I don't like them as much a Hanael and Gabriel. I just bought Hanael in 1/6 size.

 

@stellarphenomena I quite like Lily (she's pretty cute in real skin brown from owner photos) but the other new girls weren't as much to my personal taste. I am still holding out hope Luts will someday release chubby centaur Baby Delfs since they've done so many other centaur sizes, and they really like their fantasy dolls. Hooved legs would be cute too!

I also really want to see big BB size armor (like in the style of Customhouse's Ineffabilis release way back in 2007), but I might have to actually learn 3D modeling & do some 3D printing to see that dream realized!

 

Sarako: You're right, Lily is cute, I just don't like her promo look - white skin and the wig she is in. Point me to those tan owner pics? Have you written to Luts with your suggestions? Sounds like a real possibility to me. You could also write Iris at Fabric Friends and Dolls if you know that would be popular and see if she could suggest it, being a popular US retailer for Luts.

Tomorrow I will be ordering Gem of Doll Ines and Gem of Doll Edie from Alice's collections, both full set. Not sure whether to choose the normal pink resin or the white resin. Super excited! These two dolls are my grails

Thank you! I have decided to go for the pink resin. I am ordering from Alice's collections and my order qualifies for a gift 27cm doll, so I have decided on Vivian. I haven't seen many Gem of Dolls on this forum. I have been eyeing the big BB body for a while, and when I saw Ines and Edie knew I had to order them. I really wanted to get both as I love both and I think they go very well together. Will post pictures when they arrive.

 

I have a Gem of Doll BB I just don't post her a ton, because I want to get her faceup re-done, and that hasn't happened yet.

Yes it is, but its been a bit whited out by the flash and color balance of my camera It's definitely a bit more pink than this.
