3D Printing Best resin/s for 3D printing

Apr 25, 2024

    1. Hi there!
I have a resin printer on pre-order, and am planning on printing a few dolls.
The thing I have noticed a lot with 3D printed dolls is scratching of the joints, and resin powder residue from the scratching.
I know companies have come out with resins that are meant to prevent scratches and the likes from happening, such as Resione.

I'm wondering if anyone has any recommendations for some good resins, or even a mix they have come up with that helps mitigate the scratching?

Right now I know of Siriaya Tech and Resione, however Resione is practically unavailable for me here.

      Thank you!

    2. Hmm, I hope people with more experience will chime in with their favorite resins because I'm very new to doll printing and still experimenting and am also interested in this. There are so many new tough resins coming out so fast it's hard to keep up!

But when I asked for advice a while back I was recommended Siraya tech mecha mixed with tenacious and ABS type resins. I was using Mecha fast because that's what was available at amazon.ca at the time, and using 1 part ABS, 1 part Tenacious and 2 parts Mecha fast, which gives a really nice smooth finish and basically no scratching or dusting. The parts that rub can get a bit shiny with use due to the filler used in mecha (which is also gives it the anti scratching properties).
While strong and flexible I found that very thin parts will still break and chip if dropped, and once a whole finger broke off when my doll fell forward onto my desk.

So I've just started experimenting with Mecha blu now which by itself is so much stronger and more flexible than mecha fast, like 3 times or better. Using this instead I think the dolls will be more durable, but it is difficult to print being so thick and might need to be warmed depending on your environment. I had a lot of failures at first. I've again used 2 parts blu to 1 part Tenacious and 1 part ABS, but am not sure yet if the blu can be reduced while still keeping the strength, or if tenacious is even needed at all (probably doesn't hurt, but it is pricey).

Then as you mentioned there is the resione anti impact but It's really not available for me to try either. Crazy pricing when it is.

    4. You're welcome! As I experiment more I'll definitely share my findings :thumbup

    5. I personally like the Anycubic DLP Craftman ( as long as your printer is a 6 k or higher ) it prints rather nicely and smootly. Other more Lower budget options that you can mix with this one as a base ( Since the DLP only comes in grey and White ) are the RepRaptor, Sinlu and Anycubic ABS ( be careful mixing with this one since it tends to sink on the mix and give you lines on your prints on longer time printing beds )

Siraycha teck is nice for some things, specially smaller dolls also :D ( works best on higher resolution printers too )

Hope it helps and Happy Printing :D

    6. This is rather late, but dkeats888.03 (a doll sculptor I admire a lot!) has posted about their resin preferences on their youtube. this here is part one ! They discuss their preferred mix and print settings and everything. There's a part two as well

    7. i use Resione M69, but i will try next M70. But i dont like the orange color, maybe a mix like this from rr is the best. the prices are skyrocket in the EU for resin.. so i only can afford 1 bottle at time:...(
