Yep here I go again. I learned a lot from my Lan to Neytiri, that I've decided to give it a second go! This time with a blue skinned BBB tiny owned by the lovely ShizukaYuki whom has so graciously allowed me to mod her a Na'vi of her own! So we begin! Before shots: And one more for giggles. Sorry it's so dark, but the one with the flash was even more gross! Currently the plan is modding/moving the face/ears with apoxie, mod the hands and feet appropriately, and add a tail. Dyeing wont be necessary this time as she is already blue, but I may blush her slightly darker to get a less noticeable tiger stripe effect when I do add her stripes.
I can't wait to see how she turns out! You're first mod to a Na'vi was so well done that I'm sure this one will be just as good, if not better since now you know what you are doing!
should be great ^^ love your first one to pieces, makes me want a navi myself XD are you sure that the tiny is a dark enough blue to use as a base?
Tiny Feetsies! Itty bitty hands! Both were strangely easier to remove digits from then I'd imagined. Rough blocking of the face, it'll be more fleshed out with sanding after the apoxie cures. And a first run tail, still not sure how I want to attach it, either permanently with apoxie or with a magnet. Very torn because her butt is so tiny!
It's so cute! My vote for the tail would be with a magnet, that way you can decide if the tail helps with balancing or if it tips him/her over and then you can adjust it.
Nice work, it looks like it will end being spectacular. The tail is going to be difficult, isn't it? Won't it make the little one topple over?
WOW I can't wait to see this one going through the transition. It's going to be a lot of hard work for you but worth it when it is finished. Can't miss watching this one ;-)
God people are so creative with their mods. I love watching the things people do and progress shots are equally fun.
And here I go again! I touched up the ears while they were still attached with my handy-dandy dremel. Then with a small hacksaw I took off the ears. Ta-DA! Sanded the tail smooth and made one area flatter to be flush with the body. Now to wait on the mail order magnets. I thought I could get away with a pair I have from another doll, but sadly they are to high, the right size just too tall. I'd have to drill to far into the doll and the tail. Still not quite finished sanding down the facial mods, but were almost there. I like that the removed ears give the doll more angular/chubby looking cheeks! And to attach the ears, but this is just a rough idea of where they'll be. Thanks!!
What a lot of very intricate detailed work you have happening. Those ears look too tiny to be able to work with but you have made them look great. Progress is amazing. Congrats.
This tiny looks better, and more adorable, every time you post updates on her! I always find that I can't wait to see more!
Looks great so far! I;m happy your going to use magnets for the tail. Can't wait how this one is going to turn out!
That's my biggest problem, too. I'd love to make some cool mod--I want to do a bastet. But I'm too afraid I'll complete mess up the doll--and especially if you hack into such a tiny one. Very interested in the results!
And another update!!! Tail magnets came in! Woo. They are soooooooo tiny! But I still had to dremel out a small indent for them to sit flush. This tail sits more flush then my Lan Na'vi's tail does. See! Ears have ben re-attached, and made to stick out a bit more. I figured since this one is so small that its ears would always be more forward as if they were listening to their mother. ON to the great paint mixing! I decided not to break out the airbrush as the surface area is so small, the ears, bridge of the nose and tail that need to be painted. So shiny, wet paint. And for kicks, one quick coat of blue blushing. WOW what a difference! That's all for now!
YIPEE !!! There is the real beginnings of life in this little one. That blushing makes such a massive difference. It is coming along beautifully. Congrats. I am busting to see more !!!
I saw your first Na'vi forum and I'm pretty excited that you're making a second one! I can't wait to see what she looks like when she's finished!
I seen the first Na'vi too, so I thought I'd watch the second one come to life also! So far, she's adorable! I can't wait to see the stripes!!! =D
This is fascinating--such careful work on such a tiny doll! I'm looking forward to seeing more pictures as you continue!
Almost there! One blushing wasn't dark enough, so I went with two. Blushing the face mods (ears and brow) proved more difficult. Sadly I couldn't get the mods to completely match the resin. As you can see, with the macro setting on my camera, you can make out the apoxie mods. But In person it's less noticeable. Stripes and lower eyelashes. I didn't do lower lashes on my last Na'vi but I really like them on this one. I had to redo the lower torso blushing and stripes, after the wind took over my drying rack and it fell into my plant. But all is well! And glowing dots! ShizukaYuki had requested the unique stripes creating an abstract heart over her tail. Wig and clothes to come next, along with putting her back together! Almost there.
Ohh, she's so cute! I think the difference in tone of the epoxy mods blends into her face nicely. I want a na'vi now!
I will do some backlight photos, which mimics what you actually see in the dark. Sadly I cant capture with a camera (with out the aid of a blacklight) what you see in real life.
she looks amazing! i love the little heart :3 I also don't mind the apoxy differences, they seem to work well
Wow...You are amazing! I don't think I could do such nice, tiny lines...especially on such a small surface.
You have such amazing patience. To do such intricate details on a tiny must be very difficult. o: She looks adorable! Can't wait to see her finished.
i am so amazed by this! the face mods don't look bad at all kit i like the lighter blue actuyally its cute! are you keeping her lip color the purple or will you paint it blue?
Actually is pinkish as Na'vi actually have red blood and therefore pink lips and insides of ears. Unless you would prefer different just let me know. I'm waiting on eyes now.
Amazingly cute. The apoxie difference did look a little obvious at first glance but when you finished with the blushing, stripes and dots it looks just fine, like a difference in tone that would go with that stripey coloration naturally. Great work! And the tail is to die for. The cute is almost painful!
i dont mind the lips like that but thwe pictures i've seen the lips are a little more blue i should watch the movie again. but if it isnt too much trouble could you make them a little more blue even if it isnt completely accurate XD if its a bother then don't worry about it 333 i cant tell you enough how amazing this is
Nope no trouble at all, I'll make her lips a little less pink and a little more blue! ^_^ Working on her wig/clothes while I wait for her eyes to arrive.
