everyone loves a good zombie! Okay maybe not. I'm not a rotting corpse type of girl, so this guys just really thin. actually he's not as thin as I originally intended but he is cadaverously muscular. X3

I wanted him to be about 65cm, but he's looking like he might be a bit taller... closer to hound's size. His arms and torso are about as big as my hound. This was the first sculpting process. I build up a core of aluminum foil and the cover it with super sculpey. Once I have the detail where I want it I cut the middle where I want the joint and slowly pull the whole thing apart, cutting the aluminum foil as I go. The aluminum foil helps me to keep from squashing his anatomy by accident.

Here's where he is now. My focus is on aesthetic value, not posability, so he won't have double joints. His middle joint has catches so that he can bend over and turn. I'll have his upper torso finished casting tomorrow, hopefully his lower torso later this week. I need to do some work on his arms with mobility before I can invest them. These are just the junk molds tho.

you can see from these pictures his body with(from L to R) my modded chiwoo head, Bastian- hand sculpted and cast by me, and my hound's head in comparison. I'm hoping that bas's head will be comfortable enough to sit on the completed doll so that he can be sold as a complete doll after this as I only sell him as a head so far.

I've got both arms completed and I realized I made one's tricept way too small compared to the other. whoops! his hands turned out really nice... I figured out a way to sculpt them, I'll make a tutorial sometime.

Sand3: I haven't! No one here has one. ;o;// I do have a large dollzone boy and I don't like his double joints either. THey're more aesthetically sculpted than Dollshe but I have to pop his joints out of their sockets, bend them, then put them back in. Maybe it's just my boy but it irritates me! XD My two best posers are my CP boy and girl, I sueded them with hot glue and damn, they'll do just about anything now!

Well, I have a junk mold nearly finished of the torso. I need to make a core mold for it, but so far it looks good! *SQUEEE* I have a lot of sanding to do on the rest of the arms and stuff tho. :{ And I need to invest his butt half. X3

 

I have a narae 42 and she's gorgeous~~ One of the interesting things is that her core mold obviously went in the top of her thigh because the hole there is unusually large, but it makes it so her thigh was cast as one piece. Same with the top of her pelvis peice, which is similar to how I did mine. She poses so well and she doesn't need the double joint at all!

 

I bought my second one second hand, so I just had to wait for shipping. X3 I bought a 60cm from dollfair first and I waited a month for her. She was well worth the wait! X3

sorry they're not real great pics... the upper chest is bright white because dumdahdah~~~ it's a cast! Yes, I went ahead and cast it. I put his arms together and strung them and they're okay for articulation. I must admit i got used to the Dollshe double joints on my bigger boys... but I just don't think I could make ones like that and be satisfied with them at this point. I'm going to go ahead and cast the arms before I cut them up too much so that i can do several experiments on how the finals need to be re-cut without ruining my original.

 

Chuuie and Ann: Don't worry I plan on casting and selling him. XD;; blargh I need to get cracking on those thighs!

Chesiretiffy: It does fit the head quite nicely. I may make two different torso parts, one with a long neck for larger more mature heads and one with a shorter skinnier one for CP style heads.

Glyndon: Aw, but boys are so much FUN! XD;;; Setsuna has a girl she's sculpting and if she ever gets her done then we'll have a 60cm girl. X3

Darken: Hehehe~ thanks! Eventually he will have a head, I swear! I'm saving that since it's my favorite part. My least favorite part is coming up, legs. :S it's sooo much harder to get legs even and nice than the arms.

 

since I have the power of resin and dye, I'll probably make some full color ones in green or blue. I LOVE dark elves. ;~; and a nice light olive green yes. yes. >:3 thanks for the encouragement guys! It makes me want to work on it more!

Matty: Hehehe~ Well at least with the dolls it's easy to GET to their brains. Roxy actually sculpted a brain to put into her F08's head because her noggin is so HUGE. XD

Silversfall: Thank you! I'm the same way... I like a lot of surface detail, espeically on the torso. the legs, eh, not so much, but definately the torso. I might make another more fleshed out body and maybe a duplicate torso with a longer neck for dolls with deeper head holes(like hound and such).

Wolfie Pie: Thank you! I was hoping to finish him before christmas up to the first molds... but my mom got really sick and I spent the last week in limbo taking care of her... so now I'm behind on everything. :/

Akari: Well I'm not sure what he'll turn out to be till I get his legs done. XD I was hoping for him to be a smidge shorter than Hound so that he can wear sd13 long leg pants so people won't have so much trouble clothing him.

I didn't want to update till I had more to show, but I wanted to say thank you to everyone for the comments! It's what's keeping me going!

 

JayEll: Thanks! I'm so glad you like him! I'll probably also do a version with less pronounced muscles and bones that will be a non-zombie version. X3 But the zombie is def my favorite!

Toes~! His feet are roughly as big as hound's. they're a wee bit longer and a wee bit thinner. I hope I succeed in giving him attractive feet too, I don't like the way Hound's feet look at all. yes, they're manly, but they're ugly. I hate feet! XD

This gives you an idea of how i make hands and feet tho. I make the toes or fingers first seperate, then I set them into a "palm" of flat super sculpey and position the length and shape of them, then bake that. After that's done I add flesh where it needs to be. :3



He has legs! omg! His legs are sort of fish eyed here so they look a big short.. but they're very very long actually. I'm not sure how long they'll end up being, but we'll see. o.o;; pardon his peen showing. XD

Vas is dis? It's a cast hand! I made this right before christmas to cheer myself on. You guys responding are what keeps me going, else I think I'd have given up on this. XD It's so easy to get overwhelmed and go, "Well how the hell am I going to do THAT!?" So to prove to myself that I COULD, i cast the hand, which i was afraid would turn out with lots of bubbles or wouldn't fill at all. Here it is also in comparison with Hound's hand, the ball joints are the same size but Hound's fingers are longer- but you could in theory replace a broken hound hand with his hands.. whcih I plan on doing since I snapped off two of Nathan's fingers by accident and he's yellowed quite a bit(he's gone all over creation with me!). And in comparison with my hands, which they're based on a bit. Except you can't see quite that much of my tendons!


anyway! hope you all like him! I'm going to go get to work on his feet and sculpting the socket for his knees and ankles. I hope to have him ready to cast by the end of the month, but we'll see. I'm losing next weekend because I have to go visit my older brother in texas. I haven't seen in him in about oh... four years? :S We're total opposites. He's a football coach.

 

illyrimur: Aw~ thanks! This is try #4? for me with the dolls... this is the first large scale one I've done tho, all the others were 16cm and under. X3 I referenced classical sculpture for him and the other small doll I was working on, it really helpful for me. :3 I still hate feet tho. I think of them as tiny misshapen hands and it creeps me out! Maybe if i stopped picking things up with my strangely prehensile toes I'd not freak out so much. XD;;;

AnnTagonist: I'm so glad! I just measured him and he's about 59cm from the top of his neck to about where the bottom of his foot would be(the ankle is still soft so I don't want to try to put that on there just yet). With bastian's head on there he's about 65cm! which was my goal. :3

hisuiyui: Hopefully in the next two weeks I'll get him all sanded and ready for first casts! After that I'll refine him and then do a second casting. The first casts may be available for purchase so that I can be sure and have enough money for the silicone to make the final casts.

hane: Yup, he'll have his own head. i've got a whole folder of sculpting references that runs from actors to models to reference from. X3 He also fits the bastian head I made last year and I'll probably refine bastian's head cap(which doesn't fit well) so that he can be purchased as a complete doll also. :3

Chuuie: Yes! I totally plan on making clawed hands! Haha~ Roxy always grabs my Hound and makes him do the thriller dance. XD Glad you like his feets!

Leechy: Thank you so much! I'm glad you like him. He also fits CP heads pretty well, I tried my chiwoo head on him and Raiden will definately be getting one of the bodies to use. XD

Lolipop: Thank you! I need to fix a couple things with the hands and I'm hoping to boil them and soften them enough that I can move the fingers into different positions and straighten out his "broken" looking pinkie.


Updates: I got one foot finished and one ankle almost done. The other foot needs about two more baking and refines before I can sculpt the ankle on the other foot, but soon. The knees were also made last night and the sockets for them too. So hopefully we'll get a trial of how the body stands soon. I'm betting tho that i won't be able to get the arms to stay on while I do the test stringing simply because they are really really heavy. XD

After I get all that done it's back to filing and sanding and dremeling the legs till they're smooth. They're the hardest for me because unlike the arms, which have dips and indentations of the muscles, I chose to make the legs smooth. I don't know the muscles of the legs, especially the thighs, as well as I do the arms but at the same time I don't want him to have chicken legs or swollen ankles like my poor hound! I have to leave this weekend for texas and a trip to see my brother and his offspring, so it might be next week before I post any more pictures! Also, Setsuna is sculpting a doll too and she's almost ready to cast. She's sculpting a girl and a boy. Unfortunately she doesn't have a camera! BUT! When she's ready for them to be cast she'll be sending them to me to cast!
