Jul 9, 2009

    1. Hi!
This is my first BJD, made more than a year ago. Body and head - paper mache covered with Paperclay, BJ hands - milliput.
      58 cm tall.
His name is Alex and he is bass player. Unfortunately, the bass is not yet ready.:(

    3. Thanks for looking!

    4. he is absolutely awesome - and the hands are wonderful. I really like the grace and mobility you got with the 2 part fingers! I hadn't thought of splitting the fingers like that and I really like the way they look. Are you sculpting the bass for him too?

Milliput is a great material for the jointed hands - I sure wish that I could use it and the apoxy clays.... I'm currently having to redo the right paperclay hand that i'm working on because some water got poured on it by accident and by the time I discovered it - the joints had all melted together.

thank you so much for posting him - I know you are finishing up your current projects, but i'm really looking forward to seeing pics when you start your next bjd!

Thanks you very very much!!! I decided use 2 part fingers because of the small size of the hand, very small to me the details! but I also like the results. Plans to make 3 part fingers for larger dolls. I really like the system to the palm of hand that you used in your project - ball in the palm rather than the finger. May I try this system in my future BJD project?
Bass already carved out of wood, but it has not bridge and other furniture.
I'm sorry about your problem with paperclay I wish you good luck - let you all get!!

    6. I tried a lot and did not find anything better Milliput

    7. <grin> i was looking at your ball at the end of the finger instead of in the palm and thinking i will have to try that next.... i'll be honored to see what you do with the ball in the palm, is it ok if I try your way too?

I'm actively working on a ball jointed folding wing... and I want to do some long insect legs. I will have to try the milliput and see if i can use it without triggering stupid epoxy allergies...

Have you see the Japanese artist Toda?

    8. ]i'll be honored to see what you do with the ball in the palm, is it ok if I try your way too?Ok! But I get idea from Soom hands - that was a big challenge for me.
Milliput is no problem when sculpts - but i have great problem with allergies drilling and sanding it. Now i use respirator always than works with milliput dust - and have no problem.
Have you see the Japanese artist Toda?Oh, thank you very much for link! I have never seen the works of this master! It is amazing! I love the work of Japanese artists very very much!

    9. I'm very curious how you were able to string these hands. I can't quite wrap my brain around it. XD

    10. beautiful work! What amazing hands particularly!
