The day finally arrived, for the wedding of the year, and the guests were arriving at the cathedral... Baron was at the altar talking to the Bishop... Naomi and her attendants were waiting in the side chapel with Lawrence. Lawrence and Baron had been best friends since they were children, and under other circumstances he would have been asked to serve as Baron's Best Man. But as King, Lawrence was forbidden from accepting any 'subservient' roles. So Naomi, who had no family, and wanted to include Lawrence in some way on her and Baron's special day, had asked him if he'd be willing to walk her down the aisle and give her away. It was time for the ceremony to begin... Everyone rose, and turned to look... When Lawrence and Naomi reached the altar, he passed her over to Baron, who lifted her veil. "You look so beautiful."
Receiving the blessing on their marriage... "Presenting Sir Baron, and Lady Naomi, husband and wife." Formal Portraits... The reception... Thank you. The cathedral scenes were shot at our son's movie studio, and the formal portraits and reception photos were shot in our backyard.
Wow! Everything about these pictures are so exquisite, like a series of historical paintings! You've done a great job framing each one, though I must say my favorite moment is seeing all the children descend onto the sweets table during the reception Congrats to the happy couple and thank you for sharing their joy with us!
@BaroquePopPrincess - Thank you! It was quite some experience shooting a doll wedding in a movie studio. The background was a 3-D Gothic Cathedral program our son purchased specially so I'd have rights to it. I was happy that I was able to shoot hand-held in the low light, as it would have been a total pain to have to use a tripod. Even so, photographing so the cathedral scenes took over six hours from beginning to end. The scenes in our backyard were done over several days, as I forgot some scenes the first time round. So had to set it all up a second time. @Rinoa Heartilly - Thank you so much.
Oh, wow - these are beyond stunning! The attention to detail in absolutely everything - the styling, the staging and composition, all of it! I'm in awe.
Your creative eye and attention to detail is astonishing! Everything you've put together is so lovely! Also, Naomi is beautiful! and resembles both Taylor Swift and Scarlett Johansson
Such a gorgeous wedding, everything is just perfect. Wonderful work, thank you for sharing this amazing photo shoot
I keep thinking that I want to come to your home to play. Every photo tells a story and I love that your included my favorite dragon. Thank you so much for sharing your creativity, and wonderful artwork with us.
Thank you for all the positive comments! It was quite the opportunity and experience, and I was so happy with the photos. Yes, @oriscany Winston had to be there, as did Willie. They are both old friends of Baron's and wouldn't miss his wedding.
My most deeply felt admiration for all the work you put into this set of photos. All the tiny details...like the dragon holding a cup! So much perfection in positioning and outfits. They are a marvel as are you.
Thank you! It took me over seven months from making her wedding dress, then his wedding outfit, and then the flower girl dresses, until the photos were eventually taken. I had intended for it to be a summer wedding, but I had another story that took on a life of its own and wasn't done until almost Christmas. By September I was running out of time for the wedding photos, as our garden only stays looking good for so long, so I shot all the formal portraits and the reception photos that month. I actually had to set up the reception set in my backyard a second time since I'd forgotten to shoot some important scenes. The ceremony photos in the movie studio cathedral set were taken a few weeks later. That took considerable planning and preparation, as I couldn't forget anything at home. Then it took me months to process all the photos and finally put them altogether into albums on my website. And after the wedding photos, we took Baron and Naomi on an autumn trip to Quebec City for their honeymoon in modern times. I haven't even finished processing those photos yet, let alone posted any.
This is incredible! All the clothing is so on-theme, down to the bishop and the little attendants! It looks like the wedding scene in Ever After (but happier, of course). And the backdrop...truly an amazing shoot.
MB Lilac, I love your photoshoots; they are always amazing, but this one takes the cake! OMG! This series of photos is so opulent and exquisite. Each one is like a precious sparkling jewel. My eyes don’t know where to look first. You are a true artist! Thank you so much for sharing your work.
@~Suisei_Seki~ - Thank you! I wanted everything to have that basic theme - sort of a mix of Medieval period but with a Fantasy edge, and was so excited when the 3-D artist at our son's movie studio found this backdrop. It was exactly as I would have imagined the scene would have been. @Rabbit-moon - Thank you so much! This was the ultimate in doll photography, and something I'd never dreamt was even possible. It was a lot of work, and I wouldn't want to make use off the studio too often. They are a business with paying clients after all. But I may just have to come up with some other ideas that would work in that cathedral setting.
I feel like we need some behind the scenes photos to show how you got all of that set up! An amazing amount of work!!!
@RyokoDWolfwood - Thank you! @Anna-goldfinch - Thank you! @akasora - I have an entire album on my website with all the Behind the Scenes photos -https://www.antiquelilac.com/behind-wedding-scenes---fav-photos-2023.html I'll also add the link to the end of the photos posted at the beginning of this thread. Here's a few sneak peaks....
I wish I could get myself that organised! Mine are all over the place wherever i coudl find space for them. Teddy
You've really outdone yourself with this shoot! Easily the most lushly decorated and costumed shoot this site has ever seen. The sheer hours of work represented by the rich and decorated costuming you've done for years now... Just speechless. This is phenomenal.
@Teddy - Mine are all over the place too, but out of sight for the most part. I keep all the furniture and larger animals on shelves in the basement. All the smaller props are sorted into photo boxes, which are stashed on shelves in different rooms on the main floor. Clothes and fabrics are stored in large, labelled copy paper boxes, on shelves, either hidden behind doors or in half the front coat closet. Then there's dozens of boxes of sorted fabric in a huge storeroom in the basement. The dresser in the dining room holds a lot of props as well, and also wigs, and there's an entire drawer full of mohair for wigs. So I basically live in a 'doll house'. @Rosslyn - Thank you so much! I think it will be hard to live up to this photo shoot in the future. It was mighty impressive, but it's still a lot easier to do photography at home. I do have some ideas for two more, smaller photo shoots using that same Gothic Cathedral background, but like usual there will be a lot of work getting ready for them, and I'm rather preoccupied with a major photo story right now.
