Thanks so much for this information. I'm going to do a practice run this weekend. It may turn out a hot mess but at least it will be good practice.
Thank you for all of these wonderful links. All of the ones that I've gone to so far are excellent! Would you do me a favor and post a link to this list on the 2011 Seminar??? thread. I think that everyone visiting there would appreciate this list. Thanks again for sharing your list.
Thanks for these. Gives me nostalgia of when I first discovered BJD making tutorials. I miss the smell of paperclay. ;.; The Morezmore tutorial is new to me! This way of making a BJD seems great for an OOAK. She's shown every step too.
Thanks for these KW - but you should add *your* blog to the linkable list, since it has a wealth of information.
Ball-Jointed Doll Tutorial Links (as of 2010-11-05) Thank-you for your encouragement, Glimmer! My weblog isn't really a tutorial, and it is such a mess. I'm just trying to keep a daily journal of my doll making progress, and share things with others. Perhaps, once my first 60cm BJD is finished, I'll make a new web page for it, in the form of a tutorial? That way, it would be easier to follow? I'm figuring it out as I go along. :p Anyway, here is a link to my weblog from the very beginning: http://atelierpoupee.blogspot.com/2010/07/what-is-bjd.html
Your blog is amazingly good! I am reading every post and loving it. Thanks so much for sharing your BJD journey. I hope that you will make a tutorial of your 60cm doll. I'm sure that it would be extremely informative.
I'm bumping this thread up for all the new doll makers who have recently arrived at The Joint. A warm welcome to all of you. I'm sorry I haven't had time to welcome each one of you personally, but I've been busy. I hope you'll find some useful BJD making tutorials and information in the list of links. If you find any that are broken, please let me know.

The link to twigling's Zen & The Art of Articulating Dolls by Using Balljoints (2007) is temporarily down. I will update the link when I get the new one.

Making boots for BJD tutorial I found this fabulous bjd boots making tutorial at Deviant Art, and will be adding it to the list the next time I update it: Making boots for BJD tutorial by ~scargeear Pattern for boots by ~scargeear
I found this wonderful site called ReferenceReference.Com which is targeted towards animators, but that I think will also be useful for anyone drawing or sculpting the human figure or animals. There are videos with front and side views of males, females, children and animals, doing different actions. The videos are free as of this posting.

Thank you so much for all those wonderful tutorials. This will be such a help for sculpting newbies like me. Thanks again.
You're most welcome !!! Thank me again. (^_^) Actually, what I would rather see as a reply to this sticky is a pointer to a DEAD link, or a suggestion for a new tutorial. How about one that YOU (and I mean you - the one reading this post) make and release for the BJD-making community under a Creative Commons license, or, even better, as Public Domain? Yeah, you. Do it... do it now! (OMG, am *I* a fan of The Matrix, or what? -- Trinity Rocks!!!) (^_^)
There is a FREE Step-By-Step Porcelain BJD Making Tutorial by doll artist Allison Mecleary running at: Woodland Earth Studio. Allison is modeling the figure using polymer clay, and she will be molding it in plaster, casting it in porcelain, firing it, china-painting it, and so forth. So far, she has tutorials up for modeling a two-piece torso, the head, upper legs, knees, and lower legs. This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone who is interested in following along with an experienced porcelain BJD maker, to make your own porcelain BJD. So stop by WES, register at the Forum, and join in the fun. (^_^)
I came across this when looking up information on a old company. I didn't realize until years later the website has tutorials on it. They are meant for vintage vinyl dolls, but some of the info can be used for BJDs. http://www.megomuseum.com/custom/tutorialsindex.shtml
Allison has finished the sculpting part of the FREE Porcelain BJD Making Tutorial and has started the plaster slip-casting molds part of the tutorial.
DIY Wax Pen Tutorial A wax pen is used to work with sculpture wax and carving wax. Sculpture wax is used to model an original sculpt. Carving wax is an intermediate design material, used in industry. (^_^)
I scanned the list of tutes and did not see this, so I figured I would ask. Is there a picture or video tutorial for how to string the small animals(Kitties and such)? Thanks for the help!
I made this tutorial last spring I believe. I never finished my doll sadly. I still plan on going back to her, but the tutorial has a lot of helpful info. This is a polymer clay doll but really most mediums you can do the same thing I did with. http://www.flickr.com/photos/clarinetplayer/sets/72157628710688259/
Awesome! you have no idea how much this helps! I was actually thinking of the small pet bjd but in actuality I really wanted to do a animal doll too. Thanks and maybe I can start later today if my brain can process everything right. I am still trying to understand the whole ball joint part since I do not have my real bjd yet. Thanks again!
How about this tutorial on DA? http://cuzzycola.deviantart.com/favourites/?offset=288#/d50tkhu I like it because it explains how to make joints quite well (as compared to most I've seen) she doesn't like sculpey though, and focuses more on air-dry clays.
http://iya-deis.livejournal.com/5601.html I found this - a neat tutorial on making perfectly round spheres for joints. It's in Russian, but essentially, it tells you to make a ball with your hands that's roughly the size you want as your finished ball, or a little bit bigger. Let it dry, wet the surface slightly, and then use a plastic guide like the one shown, with differently sized holes to slowly grind off the outer layer of the ball to make it perfectly round and smooth.
doll tutorials by Ilena Elina blueberry-doll pointed to this absolutely awesome and amazing Russian language tutorial by Ilena Elina about modeling hands in polymer clay. Here is another tutorial by Ilena Elina about modeling feet. Thank you, blueberry-doll !!! (^_^)
Silk posted some very good advice for anyone planning on having their work cast by a foreighn 3rd-party casting company. (^_^)
When checked on 20130916, this link is no longer working. Futoyama's Doll (Google Translation.) Goodbye Futoyama's Doll :dead: (~_~) The link for Silicone Rubber Mold Making Tutorial by Donn Kinney of Bishonen House. has been changed to a new one, because the old one died an unexpected death. This death has been reported before, and is greatly exagerated. Anyway, go and grab a copy of it, and save it to your PC, before it suffers the Real Death. If YOU discover any DEAD links in the list, please send an IM to me and let me know, so I can remove it from the list. Thanks In Advance (TIA). (^_^)

Not a tutorial but I didn't know where else to put this - we really need a tips and tricks thread. If a joint tends to snap into a certain position that it should not (i.e. is "kicky") and you are having trouble figuring out why, string up only that joint with wire. For example, if it's the ankle doing it, string up the foot and the leg so that the only thing jointed is the ankle. Then tighten the wire and play with the joint. You should be able to see, by the way the wire tightens and loosens, exactly where the problem is. The elastic will want to be shorter where the wire gets loose, longer where the wire gets tight, and thus when strung up, it's going to try to find the shortest path. Of course, -fixing- the problem is a little more complicated, but it can at least help you zero in on exactly what spot needs fixing.
http://deskleaves.deviantart.com/art/Ball-jointed-doll-tutorial-part-1-303710466 Really recommend this tutorial by DeskLeaves in DeviantArt. The tutorial consist of 5 part, materials, planning, sculpting head and body, finishing. This tutorial is for OOAK BJD so there is no casting tutorial. Anyone who is still beginner and don't know where to start should read this tutorial. It's give a gist of everything, like a summary of making BJD
So much information here it is overwhelming! Thank you all I have something to add: This gentleman has a detailed tutorial on how to sculpt ears which I have found very useful.
