Warning Bad eBayer -- shining_polaris

Sep 23, 2005

    1. Just an FYI.

The doll in this auction is a Konji doll.

    2. This just makes me SO angry! I have contacted the seller. I hope they will remove this auction. or at least say whay it really is! Scammers =( I know this name of the seller. Have they been in trouble before? I think for money gouging

    3. Judging by the seller's feedback (s)he seems to lie about things like stains, damage etc. not good at all.

    4. She's also selling a DD HEAD for $99.00.

      x_X

This seller seems to be one that's frequently warned against -- she's the same one who b ought a Dollkot Leaf and then resold it claiming not to know who the maker was. (I think it's a she, I'm just assuming, though.)

I think this is definitely a Seller To Avoid, given the number of negative reviews I've seen here on DoA, and her evident willingness to mis-mark and randomly price items.

      -- Andi :/

    5. Arrrgh, why am I not surprised it's shining_polaris? Given her habit of frequently listing items as over-priced and giving out misleading information and "accidental" wrong labels...mrgh.

...also, I notice that it says in the body of the auction that USA shipping is $8, but international shipping is $40. :x Good lord, what a scammer!

Also, her feedback is very, very unprofessional. She responds to negatives with slander and name-calling, and it ALSO looks like she gives retaliatory feedback--if you negative her, she negatives you, if you give her a neutral, she gives you a neutral back.

And yes, I noticed that DD head too, as Ashbet pointed out. Pardon me, but that faceup doesn't seem to justify the markup on that head. She's also selling an Aga Fairy head, and keyword spamming while claiming that it will fit a Pocket Fairy body...and I have to wonder if it really will, or she's just trying to make a quick buck. :|

    6. :| she's the same girl selling "spot the fake" books.

    7. OH THE IRONY!

      It's usually the case with scammers and it's not even a book, but an Ebook! x_x;

    8. . . . does this woman's gall never end??!?

Honestly, it looks like a Rasendou body with a Sleeping Ryung head, to me.

The sad part is that she could probably sell this stuff LEGITIMATELY, but she chooses to put in deliberately obfuscatory descriptions . . .

Somebody should report this auction for keyword spamming -- in fact, I think *I* will ;P

      -- Andi (disgusted!)

    9. I wonder if the person who bought the Konji might read this just a bit too late.

I kinda want the Rasendou body boy...

    10. That's exactly what it is! :| This seller is beyond dishonest; what a load of sh...

    11. Oh dear, maybe somebody could contact the person who bought the "Elfdoll" Konji and make sure s/he knew what s/he's getting?

xberryjam if you do decide to brave the possible storm and bid, please make sure to post after and tell us how the transaction went and what condition the body was in. I'm highly suspicious of the seller and the quality and condition of her items.

EDIT: Good lord: she bought this Aga Fairy Cherry Head that she's selling for $49 (she had it listed at $99 before...but now I notice she lowered the price) in this auction for $30...when 100% of that auction went to the Red Cross to help with Katrina.

And I think Ashbet meant to put that this was the Konjidoll that shining_polaris bought and resold. And another edit to add that the original Konjidoll auction was another 100% donation to Katrina.

    12. That's a link to someone purchasing it off her.

      However: The poor buyer.

EDIT: saw the post before mine, & how can she be so awful, she bought a head that money was donated to and makes a profit from it! Disgusting!

    13. I'm scared now. Her feedback...pen marks and super dirt and worn items? And she's so immature, she reminds me of some of my classmates. I want a Rasendou body, but this is just too iffy for me. I don't think I'm bidding.

That Ryung head is gorgeous too though...*sighs* Patience is a virtue.

    14. I know first hand that she know what the hell that body was when she bought it. -_-;;

    15. Anyone know if "kramey" (the buyer) is a member here or one of the other popular boards? Looking at her feedback she should be familiar with BJDs, she's bought a number of outfits from Violet Fern and others. Maybe she just didn't read the description thoroughly?

Edit: Actually, I take that back. A large part of the problem is the description. :| Well, I hope she realizes what's up before she sends payment.

    16. That really sucks for you! :( I'd tell you to go for it, but who knows what kind of condition the doll's in?! It's too bad she can't be more honest, since that doesn't seem like a bad price.

    17. Sorry, you're right -- I corrected the link!

Gahhhh. $20 for hurricane relief, $70 in her pocket -- just lovely :/

Wish somebody could put a WARNING: SHINING_POLARIS sticky at the top of this forum!!

Mods? (I realize that a careful line has to be drawn in terms of slander, but if the auctions are listed factually -- $20 doll purchased as a KonjiDoll, resold for $100 as an "Elfdoll" -- I think it'd be perfectly acceptable)

It's really unfortunate that she gets away with scamming people like this :(

      -- Andi

    18. I contacted the bidder through ebay and reported the hybrid Rasendou auction. Rasendou bodies are NOT the same quality as other makers and should not be misrepresented.

    19. Ah well, I'd rather not have a body than have a broken/dirty/whatever body. It's alright though, because I''m supposedly saving up for the opening of the Volks Sumika in LA.

Yeah, that hasn't been going too well.

    20. I also reported her to eBay -- hopefully they'll DO something eventually, I know she was reported before during the Dolkot Leaf auction . . .

      -- Andi :P

    21. ~I sent an e-mail to the buyer, I don't know if it will do any good or if they will even believe me but, none the less, I felt guilty about not doing anything. I also suggested to the buyer to log unto DoA and get more info.

~Ashbet reported the auction to e-bay, and I also sent an e-mail to them, so hopefully nobody will get scammed! This really pissed me off!

    22. I second the vote that there ought to be a warning about her, mods. I realize that DoA doesn't want to blacklist anybody unless there's actually been a failed transaction involving a lot of money and much grief (as stated in the feedback forum) but...shining_polaris frequently and consistently lists BJDs with FALSE or very misleading information when she clearly knows exactly what she's got--as evinced by her buyer's history of buying dolls and reselling them at grossly inflated prices.

People have contacted her about these auctions, but she appears to either blow them off or ignore them. She has not stopped this behavior.

I think a warning about shining_polaris would be helpful. Her name pops up too frequently on the board, and I think newcomers and long-initiated people alike deserve a warning. In this manner, hopefully we can prevent grief on the behalf of future buyers.

    23. More Shining Polaris incidents:

Shining Polaris sells a $12 outfit for $30

Arse, I can't find the one where she bought a Dolkot Leaf in a clearly-labeled auction, then tried to resell it as a "maybe Luts" doll at a higher price . . . the Search function isn't bringing it up.

-- Andi (who, for the record, has had NO dealings with this seller and has no vested interest in this issue, I just hate dishonest/disingenuous people, and Shining Polaris has quite the history!)

    24. That's so SICK. That Konji doll doesn't even look remotely as posable as a BJD. It has the Barbie stiffness to it. The "immediate payment required" on the "SD13 Size Super Dollfie Doll" is fishy, too. How can anybody be so cold and inconsiderate to these dolls? Is it not understood the bond and joy these dolls are to bring? The "SD13 Size Super Dollfie Doll" has what looks to be the same kind of body that batchix used for her former Jareth. It wasn't the best body in the world, really. Not without modifications. And on the DD head... Anyone notice "*** Shipping for this doll head is $5.00 in the USA. It is priority and these books are thick and heavy! This is the most reasonable any seller can get!" ? Uh... books? o_O; She is awfully rude to the people that left her unsatisfactory ratings. 26 negatives in the last year? Whoa. That's a bit much, wouldn't you say? In the case of one poor person who purchased three items from her, the person left two positive feedback and one negative; shining_polaris dealt this poor person three negative feedbacks in response.

(OT: I noticed she put "manga" in the title of her Sin City graphic novel set [which is far too overpriced]. Sin City is not manga.)

    25. ~I second the "seconding" of that vote. If word gets out that you can't trust the description of the items listed on e-bay, people are going to stop bidding and a lot of people are going to loose a good source of business, and even if I hate to admit it, this includes me! :o

    26. Calling Redundacy Department of Redundancy.

Someone needs to dom something about her. Flaming scammer, she is. ><

    27. KonjiDolls are great . . . for the price. There's nothing WRONG with them, but they're made out of plastic (NOT RESIN), and they're sold for $17-30. They ARE sculpted by Rainman, but they're NOT ElfDolls (which are made of resin, strung with elastic, have separate wigs/headcaps/eyes, etc.), which sell in the $200-300 range.

The body on the "SD13" auction is a Rasendou body, which is not made in the same way as most SD-sized doll bodies, and is not worth ANYWHERE near what she's charging for it. Some people here have Rasendou dolls which they love, and I'm not going to say bad things about them, but there's a price and quality differential in terms of manufacture and posing ability, and I don't think that anyone here would disagree that selling a Rasendou body as if it were made by Rainman/Elfdoll is a dishonest and deliberately price-gouging act, similar to selling a KonjiDoll as an ElfDoll.

      -- Andi <3

    28. I agree; they look very cute and would be darling for -that- price. Not $100, even with cute little clothes. Sure, if it were a super-limited Konji doll and you were a Konji collector, I would certainly understand.

I'm impressed that the head and the body's skintones matched. XD;; However, if she photoshopped it to match... that would be a different cup of ramen.

    29. Ugh. The scams seem to just be continuing, as we all suspected. I have a feeling her business is going to go downhill fast after this exposure. :\ I love how she blames her fault on her products on the "newbies" that purchase from her.

    30. :| She bought a Asha doll from me a few months ago. I have a feeling she will make it back on ebay. dangit! I wanted her to have a good home. I understand that not everyone bonds with their dolls and so some must go..but to just buy and sell and buy and sell and on top of that inflate the prices is rediculius. I sold Asha for 230, and I paid shipping and gave extra things. She was in mint condition since I was her first owner. So you know that if you see her pop up you know exactly how much she raised the price. And in the feedback she gave me she put "I can't wait to remake it" ...very suspicous...

    31. People like this make me ill.
I have been on Ebay for quite some time now and I have never seen a seller leave feedback like that.
She actually called someone "Spoiled rotten".

Scariest thing about her is that she's actually selling her Guides to Knock offs and people are actually buying them without knowing she's selling those very bags.
How can she sleep at night?

    32. Should we put a formal thread about her specifically in the good/bad traders feedback forum section? So this doesn't get lost later?
Maybe there is one already, but I don't remember seeing one...*goes to check*

    33. The thigh joints on Rasendou aren't the same, and the legs are different lengths... and the thigh ball joints don't fit into the sockets, and the doll can neither sit nor stand.... and the knees roll... Laying down in the picture is about the best pose that body can get as is.

It is NOT Souldoll or Elfdoll (does Elfdoll even make a 60 cm body?) and is much lower quality. That's terrible that she's misrepresenting it that way! That would be terribly disappointing to someone who was caught by surprise!

    34. I'm so sad to see that the Konji doll sold. =( I love my Konjis, but they're not resin, their eyes aren't glass, and just ugh...

I can't stand this seller. Is it too strong of me to say I hate her? =/

    35. Reading through the feedback can be amusing... for example.

      Neutral Feedback from jtmomcjmom:
I was told the item was used but not told that it had pen markings on it.

      Polaris' reply in Neutral:
      Cool

How can people like Polaris be around? She's so unkind!

    36. :o Daaaammmnnn this person is down right scary! Those poor dolls and worse the people that buy them and don't know the real deal, everyone becareful.

    37. That Rasendou doll is actually pretty cool looking ... but not for $500. *sigh* On that note, Konji dolls are pretty neat for $20, but not for $100. I ... just ... argh!

    38. I love Rascendo bodies... until it hits the leg joints XD They're so.. bulky and ugly looking. I always wanted a Rascendo D-Bust body.. but the legs make me want to cut myself and it's hard to find replacement legs XD

I think old skin SD10 replacement parts fit Rascendo..

BUTyeah, scalping and things like that bother me. Expecially keyword spamming and claiming ignorance when relisting an item, ESP. since she knew EXACTLY what it was.

    39. I just saw the Rascendo auction she's trying to pass off as a Souldoll...with "SD 13 boy in USA!" as the catch phrase...I actually got suckered into looking. Silly me...when I think "SD 13 Boy" I think...VOLKS *_* And a Volks boy for 500 bucks I'm thinking hmm, ok, which head? *clicks* omg not this lady again :| ...*sigh*...This woman makes puppies cry...*and that's my immature comment of the day*

    40. ...I am absolutely disgusted by her behaviour to negative feedback, and how because someone leaves a negative comment, she immediately calls them a 'newbie'. Absolutely disgusting.

    41. *coughbitchcough*

(the seller :P just wanted to be extra clear :) )

Look at her feedback, about three pages in, someone left her two positves and one negative for a series of transactions... she left three negatives in return, all nasty.

(and honestly, anyone who puts an image like the living barbie with the guitar at the top of their auctions...)

    42. Oh she is really unhinged this one, i put her on my blocked bidders list when she was selling Leaf and i saw the thread here. Anyway she tried to bid on my Customhouse Chowan and couldn't as she was blocked. She sent me TONS of hate emails, really rude- but i want my dolls to go to a good home more than make a few extra $ and told her i didn't want to see him on ebay either at an inflated price. She doesn't love the dolls she has seen they can go for high prices so she is buying only to re-sell (i have no issues with people making extra income from ebay or selling because they don't bond but it makes me unhappy when its my dolls i see sold back on- i'm not trying to be nasty to anyone here just saying how i feel about it myself)

Anyway i held firm about not letting her bid but she was really scary, i wouldn't like to have to go through it again

      Fiona

    43. I sent a message to the buyer of the fraudulant Konji doll and got a reply back. *relieved*

She said she realized about the fraud after she used the BIN, and "The seller was extremely argumentative, but eventually she refunded the payment."

    44. WHEW! I was watching this thread to see if that poor buyer found out about that konji. I hope they ban this seller, this person is just awful.

    45. I hope that someone complains to EBay about her scams and her abusive emails and feedbacks. Is there even a way to do that with EBay?

    46. I did file a complaint about her keyword spamming and deceptive auction practices, and noted the numbers of the auctions where she'd purchased the items (listed with correct descriptions) at significantly lower prices.

I really do hope they shut her down!!

      -- Andi :(

    47. Oh god, at least she got a refund. Somehow, though, I have the feeling that she only refunded because in this case there is a VAST difference between a Konji doll and an Elfdoll, and the seller knew it. I bet that if somebody bought that "SD 13" Rasendou/Ryung boy, though, she wouldn't have refunded or would have made a bigger argumentative fuss...because they're "close" enough in terms of type that she could claim utter ignorance and insist on payment. Remember that Dark Elf Leaf she sold?

      Ugh. Ugh ugh ugh.

    48. She must have been delivered a warning, a lot of her replies to comments made were withdrawn.
Still, even some of her "positive" feedbacks, are commenting on stained items and items bieng a drastically wrong size( like getting a S for an XL)
I just hope she gets burned the sam eway she's burning others, but you know whats sad? She'd feel like the victim, then.

    49. Yup, Ryung, Soah and Nabee. ^^ They're not called elf-dolls, but they are made by Rainman. :D

    50. Yep, they're called Rainydolls--however, it should be noted that there are so far no male Rainydolls...so you'd know right away that this is not a correct auction, as the doll body pictured in the photos is male.

    51. wow im so glad the buyer got there money back, and so glad that there are many people keeping an eye out for these things. like many others i meailed the seller asking them what the hell they are even thinking.

god i dont know whats worse the cost of the misleading title. i REALLY hate misleading titles.

with all the problems this seller has gotten into why hasnt ebay banned them yet?

    52. Just to throw in what I know. Yes, that is a Rasendou body. It was mine! I sold it for $300, and originally bought it for $275? I think? from another forum member. I added CP Delf hands, wired it, and modded it to stand better. It won't /sit/ without serious modification. I messaged her to let her know that it was Rasendou body that she bought from me in case she forgot. She said her sister actually bought it(under the same ebay name), but didn't say wether she would change the name or not- I can see she still hasn't changed it to the correct name.

I feel sort of sick because I loved the doll that the body belong to, it was just the wrong time for me to have him. I'm happy his head went to someone who loves him... but I'm really sad that the body went to someone who is misleading people. She was very nice and I hadn't read anything bad about her...

I even sent her some clothes for him so he wouldn't be naked. :(

    53. Did you considered complaining to eBay about that? I mean, is there something against people who send you abusive emails because you won't let them bid? I'm glad you wouldn't let her bid on it.

Really, this woman is beyond description. I emailed her about the Leaf doll auction (at that time) telling her it most definitely wasn't a Luts doll (and that it was a Leaf) and she replied back "If you don't like it, don't bid". Um, excuse me? I was just trying to be nice to let her know in case she really didn't know and that reply meant she most definitely knew what the doll was. She's only interested in what money she can get out of people. She has no ethics imo. No honour either. Unfortunately, "caveat emptor" does apply in the end.

No, I don't think so. I hate her. She makes me so angry and frustrated and sick at what she does to others. She's the kind who ruin things for everyone else.

      Hoping she'll be shut down...
      Loki's Mom

    54. Honestly after reading everything it made me want to cry! I just can't see how someone could be so cruel to those dolls! Imagin how aweful it must be for them :(
Selling your doll because of not being able to bond is perfectly understandable, your thinking about whats best for the doll and financial problems are also understandable because sometimes life just happens in a not so good way. But to just buy a doll and resell it right then for a higher price is just wrong! :| Also trying to say a doll is something that it's not just so people will pay a higher price is also just...just...AH I just can't get over what she's doing!
*hugs Kiatou & Tokia* I will be making sure she never gets her hands on any of my boys in the future if something happens to where I have to send them to another home.

    55. Really? She was the one selling the Leaf doll and saying she didn't know who it was? (T_T) I wanted to believe that she wasn't just someone who knew anything about dolls and people were just being impatient, I stand corrected, I guess she is really not nice.

So there's nothing we can do about making her go off of Ebay?

    56. Oh thank goodness!!!!

This seller's gall really pisses me off! I know it does no good for me to be mad at her, but whenever I read about someone falling for another scam of hers, I just wanna scream at her"YOU F&C^%G& B(^C%" at the top of my lungs.... :barf  :x

and I'm really a sweet person.. hehe

    57. And she calls THEM LIARS and Bad people who can't be trusted.
She then gives them a bunch of F's.

and she said to this one buyer who complained about the size of her purchase
being too small than expected.. as I quote..

"STUPID EBAYER must be retarded & blind! I put the meas. in des! No Trust NEWBIE"

      What a friggin *beeep*!

      ARGGG!
