Autobody filler?

May 16, 2005

    1. If you're filling in rough patches, is autobody filler better to use, or will Apoxie Sculpt do?

      How do you use it?

      Thanks!

    2. Ive never used Apoxie Sculpt but when i need to get something completely smooth i use auto body filler,..and then sand and then use more filler then sand (repeat and repeat) between sandings ill spray on coats of sandable gray primer so i can see all of my mistakes,..i keep doing this untill the part is perfectly smooth.

autobody filler,..usually simply called Bondo, its a gross toxic smelly nasty substance,(i usually use it outside)...you mix a lil dab of the hardener with a glop of the base and mix it untill you get an even color, then you smooth it into you dents/imprefections, once its cured (anywhere from a half an hour to a few min depenfing on how mutch hardener you used) then you can sand it

And it takes a loooong time, but the sanding/filling stage is the most important when it comes to making a smooth perfect part, so its worth the extra effort.

(ill be getting you those coremold pics soon,..im doing the final body mold this week and it has a hollow core) sorry for the delay on that,.. i finally broke down and bought a pressure/vaccum chamber so i could get perfect bubble free molds. Its amazing!!! but learning to use it has put me a lil behind.

take care and goodluck with spot filling!

    3. Thanks so much! As long as I get tips before June, I'm fine. I can't wait to find out more about what you're up to!

    4. Hey Donn!
Please! If you have any on line info, Can you send me @ [email protected]
or PM me info on the vaccum/pressure chamber? I would really appreciate it greatly!

    5. Mmm... I much prefer Apoxie S to bondo... given my bondo dried fairly quickly, I found that the longer working time and ability to smooth AS with water made it SO much easier to work with.
