I’ve been playing around with adapting a human sized pattern I love (Folkwear’s Austrian Dirndl) down to slim MSD size (minifee, unoa, narae). I’d like to make a traditional undergarment (typically a smocked or elastic top), a petticoat with visible lace trim, the Dirndl itself, a more simple apron, and stockings. I’ll use this thread as a journal for myself, but also as accountability so I don’t just abandon this project and get invested in something else XD. So far I mocked up the bodice portion of the Dirndl. The sizing ended up being pretty good, but on the small side. I don’t have my narae 404 at the moment so I’m going in blind here with just measurements to start. Though I’ll have her next week (being shipped from my family’s home). I’ll update with photos as I work more on this. I also ordered tons of tiny French lace, ruffles, buttons, and ribbon off of Etsy. All are Blythe sized so I’ll be hand-sewing these details on. Some inspiration images I have are these: (I like the cording at the top of this Dirndl) (Hook & Eye closure at the front seems the easiest way. Other options I’ve considered are the loop-tape that wedding dresses have on the back, with hooks or buttons.) (the “sweetheart” shape to the bust on this one is great! I don’t think that is necessarily traditional but I’m unsure. The coloration is fantastic though, I believe I’ll be doing deep reds, muted browns, muted pinks, and blues for mine) For the petticoat I think this following image sums up what I was thinking— really it’ll just make the skirt portion of the Dirndl “puffier” and the simple lace will peak out at the bottom. This is a traditional Polish petticoat worn under folk dress for dancing: And here are some photos of the traditional top worn under a Dirndl, they are cropped and mostly just sleeve:
This looks like a great project, I look forward to the results! That first inspo image especially is so pretty to me.
Oh wow, this looks like a demanding project. Lots of intricate details. And all of this turned into slim MSD size? I'll be sure to watch
oooh that floral embroidery in the second photo is so pretty. i cant wait to see the finished products!
