    2. I'm interested in attending- I'm a student at SCAD, though, and my schoolwork might be a little bit overwhelming by then.

If anyone else from SCAD is going, I'd be interested in carpooling / splitting the cost of a room / etc, provided I'm not drowning in homework.

    3. I so hope that I will be able to go. It will just depend on when my son's bootcamp graduation will be which will be sometime in October. Knowing my luck it will be the same week.

    4. Well, I'll see if I can come. I'm just 3-4 hours away. Might be nice to go to a doll convention while saving for Dollism up in New York!

    5. I'd planned on going, but I'm not sure I can make it now. Hopefully I can get some people to split the cost of the room.

    6. Well, I've requested the days off in preparation. :) I am waiting to see what sort of vendors, workshops, etc are going to be posted before definitely getting my ticket. It's a long haul out there and I'm planning to drive it, so I want to make sure it's going to be amazing-- which I am sure it will be. XD Haha. But the paranoid girl in me is waiting for some solid updates. Can't wait to see what's going to be going on with this!! <3

    7. I am about an hour and a half away from Atlanta and I am planning on attending!

    8. Just bought 3 tickets for my bro's gf, my mom, and myself. <3 I can't wait!

    9. I will definitely be planning on going with my hubby :) Will be buying the tickets soon :) I am super excited!

    10. I want to go! I have family in Atlanta. Anime Expo first..... then we shall see how much money I have left! I'd love to attend! <3

    11. I'm really looking forward to attending (and I'm deeply honored to be an invited guest!) Hope to see all of you there! :D

      -- Andi :aheartbea

    12. Congrats, Ashbet!

I hope the con is a fantastic success. I can't manage to travel that far away this year, but maybe sometime in the future, if there are more! :D

    13. *hugs* Thank you so much!! :D

I'm hoping for good attendance and everyone having a great time, so that we can do this again! (I would eventually like to attend some of the more local BJD events, like the one in Austin -- I hated to miss out last year -- but I was dealing with some medical stuff that didn't permit travel. Atlanta is a little far to go from Dallas, where I am . . . but I think that this event will totally be worth it, and it's going to be amazing to get to spend time with friends in person who I normally only get to see online!)

      -- A :aheartbea

    14. Thank you guys so much and I am doing my best to get updates and things out there.
It's just me doing most of the leg work right now.
Someone has jumped on board and is reworking the website as we speak.
There are updates on panels and vendors and such on the facebook page.

    15. I'm so excited for this! I'm only about an hour from Atlanta so I'd love to go to the con when it comes around! Hoping I wont be too swamped with college work.

    16. I hope so, too!!

(I'm having fun working out some ideas for a panel that I'm doing -- more info when it's finalized, but I hope people are going to like it!)

      -- A :aheartbea

    17. I'm just wondering if there's any way to get a one day pass? Last time I checked, the site only listed passes for the whole weekend. I have a two month old baby and can't be away for the whole weekend. :(

    18. My cousin is really thrilled to be going for her birthday, and invited me along, so I'll be there! I'm hoping for lots of fun meetup time, personally, and maybe a set time for a buy/sell/trade area for everyone to bring their extra stuff?

    19. Good news, on the facebook page they posted this:

There will be day passes for the convention.
These will only be available at registration at the convention.
      Friday 20.00
      Saturday 20.00
      Sunday 10.00

    20. I hope there will be a swap & sell at the con. I have a bunch of cute stuff to sell.

I'm really looking forward to this event since I just moved to the Atlanta area and don't have many friends.

    21. That's great news about the one day passes! I'll definitely be going. Probably on Saturday. :)

    22. One day passes are fantastic! I'm sure I'll be able to go due to that!

    23. I may or may not be able to go.

    24. I think my friend and I might attempt to attend!!! XD

    25. I'm glad to see the day passes, too, because they allow more people to come by -- we're going to have doll photography setups (like Volks does at Dolpas) with lights, backgrounds and furniture, there may be a photography class (I'm not teaching that one, but I'm happy to give tips to anyone who drops by my table), I'm going to be doing a couple of panels/demos (including one on Monster High, which is OT here but is a shared interest of a lot of BJD collectors), and I'm really excited to meet people who come by -- I've never been to Atlanta, but there are some fantastic people in the area!

      -- A :aheartbea

    26. Yeah.. I am so happy for the one day passes. I will definately be able to get there at least Saturday or Sunday.

This will be my 1st convention. I am still new to this BJD life and have lots to learn. I sure hope there are some demonstrations or workshop on some beginer elements. I would love to learn about re-stringing, sueding, cleaning and maintenence, making patterns whether it's knitting, crocheting or sewing, cutting wigs, and the list goes on.......

Speaking of wigs, I sure hope there will be some venders selling some. I have had some bad size judgement when it comes to ordering them online. I would like to see if they fit before buying some more.

    27. I wish we could attend , but surely next year!

    28. I'll be there - trying to figure out which dolls & whether I'm going to do the costume/outfit challenge :d

    29. I wanna go so bad, but it's so soon after Anime Weekend Atlanta @.@ and I live way down in Orlando, FL @.@;;; and I don't wanna go alone so far away @.@;;;;;
Blerg on such an epic scale. If I had someone to go with, I would scrap the money together O.o even if I had to switch to ramen as a lifestyle choice.

    30. Hey all I am glad you are all excited.
I've added some contests as well as pics of donations from various sponsors and more.
We will be having an Indiegogo shortly so that we can try and do even more for the event.

I do plan on having areas set up specifically for everyone to get to hang out in, meet, and do trading and such.

There will dolls and all sorts of accessories and there will be wigs as well as many vendors so a great selection of items to choose from.

Panels list is up and we will have a more detailed list and schedule up shortly.
I will be doing panels on jewelry making, pattern making and I can do a wig one as well with no issue.
I do know there will be two panels on various dollie issues and how to fix them.

Allicatvenus have you seen if there is anyone in your area coming to the convention that you might travel with? I know ride sharing and room sharing is often a great idea and a fun way to do things.

    31. I'd love to go, but we're so short staffed right now. I've had to work every f**ing weekend lately! While we are getting someone in, I don't know if we'll be able to train her up in time, or even if that will make much of a difference. Hope everything goes well for you guys, and that I can catch it next year!

    32. I am going to try to make it! This sounds awesome. This will also be my first BJD convention, and I'd like to second what ambshp mentioned: I would love a workshop or panel with general beginner's BJD information.

    33. I may there with my twin.

    34. I'll be there on saturday. Couldn't get the whole weekend off from work. I'm just 2 hours away, so it will be a nice day trip. I'm pretty excited for it!! Can't wait to meet fellow bjd folks!

    35. Hey all I am sad you can't go Leokitsune I would have loved to meet you hopefully things work out and you can make it.

We will be around for a long time so I will get to see everyone sooner or later smile.

    36. Hey guys yay the more the merrier and am excited to get to meet everyone.

Yes there will be meet and swaps each day both scheduled and random as we have space set up so that everyone can sit at tables in one of the areas and just hang out and swap things.

    37. I'm really looking forward to seeing everyone, and to giving some panels -- and if anyone can't make the panels but has beginner BJD questions, as mentioned above, I'm more than happy to answer them from my table! :)

Hope to see you guys next month! :D

      :aheartbea

    38. @Ashbet: The website says it's $35 to preregister for your faceup class... but it doesn't say when the class is. Do you know?

I'll be there Friday and Sunday all day, but don't want to sign up for the class if it's going to be on Saturday. (I won't be at the con all day on Saturday... we already had plans that day.)

    39. Web person is working on getting the schedule up now.
I can see if I can print it before then on the facebook page, at least a list of the panels with days and times.

    40. *wry laugh* As soon as I know the time, I'll share it! Sorry -- still hashing out the schedule so that everyone can enjoy fun stuff without a lot of "Oh, man, I want to be in two places at once" conflicts! :)

      <3!

    41. Oh good, my cousin and I had the same question. She's interested in the faceup class, and I think her mom would like me to take it with her to help her out, but we can't pre-register for it until we know if it's a time we'll be there!

    42. Current list of schedules

This is subject to change as we still have a few slots open and are working on filling them.
If you would like to submit a panel we'd love to hear about it and love to have you do one or several.
      To submit a panel...
Email name and panel name with a detailed description of the panel to [email protected]
Jen will then get back with you on time availability.

Added currentl list of panel with schedule as we have it, more to be added.

panels as we currently have them.
Any panels after this date today will not be on website.
I will add any additional panel info and panels to this note and it will be in the program guide for the convention.

We have Glenna Hartwell's class and two others one with vinyl heads from Parabox and the other with resin heads from Impldoll.
I tried to schedule the classes over the three days so that if someone could not get into one of them they could get into one of the others.

If there are other panels you would like to see let us know.

    44. Thanks! I think she's interested in the one with Ashbet, which looks like it fits our schedule. I'll have to double check. Unfortunately I'll have to miss the Monster High customizing one, which I was looking forward to... we're driving down on Friday after she gets out of school so we won't be there until early evening. :(

    45. Is anyone going from the Louisville KY area. I'm looking for someone to carpool with me. Or, is there another site for attendees to gather? Jill: [email protected]

    46. I'll be there on Sunday with my twin we both will be dressed up she will be Sunginto from Rozen maiden and I will be in a random cosplay.

    47. We have had two guest cancelations.
Ashbet is unable to attend due to health reasons and I am sad to not get to meet her but completely understand.
The other guest cancelation can be found here... https://www.facebook.com/AtlantaBallJointedDollConvention

The faceup class that was being done will still be happening it will instead be hosted by Kikichan of Acrylic Eyes and myself.

    48. Oh, that is so sad; thank you for letting us know. I hope Ashbet and Lady Saiyuki both feel better very soon. Hopefully we will see them at next year's convention.

I am still looking forward to the faceup class. :aheartbea

    49. Thanks, guys -- I really regret having to pull out, since I was really looking forward to meeting everyone and attending the con!! :...(

I'm meeting with an orthopedic surgeon on Tuesday to discuss my options, and I'm probably going to need spinal fusion.

I've been wearing a back brace for six months and have had to rely on a wheelchair more and more, but I'm just getting too much pressure on my spinal cord, and the degeneration has been accelerating at an un-anticipated rate (I have an underlying connective-tissue disorder, which is why I'm dealing with all these back problems at the age of 37, so that's very likely the reason why it's progressing faster than we'd hoped.)

Wishing all of you a fun and wonderful time!

      Best wishes,

      -- Andi :aheartbea

    50. So sorry to hear that, Ashbet. :( It sounds extremely painful. Wishing you a smooth and speedy recovery.

    51. My friend and I are planning to come and I'm so excited to see silver beam. I've been eyeing her stuff on deviantart and I finally get to see her stuff for myself (and get her MSD Sailor Moon wand for one of my girls). :) I can't wait!!

    52. What are the registration hours?
      Thanks!

    53. Registration will be open on Friday at 10 am to 8 pm and same on Sat. Sunday from 10am till noon
We will have day passes available at registration for each day.
      Friday 20.00
      Saturday 20.00
      Sunday 10.00

    54. Whoo!! I'm stoked to see there are single day passes since I live about 2-3 hours away from Atlanta depending on the traffic and I didn't really want to rent a hotel room. I'm DYING to meet others in this hobby! If I go just one day, it will be Saturday. Otherwise I'll try for both Saturday and Sunday. So excited!!! :D

    55. Be warned, the convention is advertising it IS RECAST FRIENDLY:
      Statement from Demi Jackson:

"ANNOUNCEMENT: Atlanta Ball Jointed Doll Convention is a mere 3 weeks away. The Dates are Fri, Oct 18 to Sun, Oct 20th and Registration is $35 for the weekend. There will be of panels and workshops for both the bjd beginner as well as the long time owner. This convention is open to all types of dolls not just BJDs. I spoke to one of the con's creators today and the con will be recast-tolerant! So no need to hide your "forbidden" resin kids here. If you are into Lolita fashion for yourself or your dolls, there will be fun events for you too!"

I personally am disgusted that a convention where artist go and where artist present their livelihoods, that the convention managers would allow and opening say its OK to bring your illegal counterfeit recast dolls. These artist are are PAYING to make this convention happen, only to get a slap in the face to have attendees NOT buy THEIR stuff??? REALLY??? This is sooooooooo wrong!!!

    56. Who is Demi Jackson, and where was this statement made? Links, please.

    57. That was NOT approved and NO we are not.
The convention policy on recasts is that they are not allowed to be sold or traded period.

    58. Christina I have personally talked with Cristy of Xtreme dolls who is and REMAINS one of our sponsors.

I don't condone the buying and selling of ANY recast doll nor will I tolerate it at my convention period.
