Atelier Momoni "Momoni" 40cm

Mar 24, 2016

    1. Atelier Momoni "Momoni" 40cm!
I'm so excited about this girl! I've watched her come to life with excitement from the moment @Flonne started sculpting her, and am so happy that tomorrow (march 25th) the pre-order will finally be opening! Is anyone here going to be ordering her? :) It'd be nice to chat plans here.

Here are some photos from Lola's Flickr account:

    2. I just placed an order for a cocoa skin girl. So gorgeous! What are you going for?

    3. I've had my eyes on her for a while! I'm really excited that the pre-order is opening. I don't think I'll be able to get her, but can't wait to hear everyone's plans!

    4. Me!!! I am so excited, this doll is absolutely breathtaking, I hope there are loads of Momonis for everyone to share! I'm getting Cocoa and possibly a Sand, I am unsure yet. I'd want a Rainbow of Momonis!

    5. Congrats! I ordered cocoa skin too! I think she's perfect, I ordered without face up and got the little black shoes too :aheartbea

Aw I wish could, Momoni for all! But at least you will get to see our pics here :)

Yay! yesss the more the better lol! How exciting :D

    6. I also went for a Rakeru Sensei face up slot. I'm having waaaaay too much fun planning this girl!

    7. Oh awesome! I considered it but I think I'll wait :)

Me tooooo! I'm already commissioning clothes for despite the fact it will be 90+ days :whee:

What do you have in mind for yours?

    8. I decided to splurge on this lovely girl. <3 She's going to be a glamour girl who is in to urban fashion. I'm actually having way to much fun using some of my favorite paper doll design sites to come up with ideas. How about you?

    9. Awesome!! Mines gonna be similar actually, both urban glamourous and sporty. I think she's a dancer or something XD here is the mood board I have created for her: @cesspit_ on Instagram: “Plans for my Momoni ❤️ now gonna spend 4ish months obsessing over her name ”

All I really need to do is buy the mohair for her wig and find her a name! I really can't think of anything perfect.

    10. Love it! I'm leaning towards the afro punk side of things.

    11. She is a lovely sculpt, I really like the cocoa tan variety, tho sadly my funds will not allow me to participate in this pre order, maybe next time. I hope you all enjoy planning for your new girls, and I cant wait to see the results when you finally get them,

    12. They are so cute! I am still debating whether I should preorder her or not, I love the cocoa skin and her poseability but not so sure about the little girl look. Hopefully there's still a few days to think it over :-p

    13. OMG!! I love tht style- I'm planning it for another incoming doll! I cannot wait to see your girl!!! How exciting :)

Aw I'm sorry to hear that. Lola mentioned she might not offer these two colours again but I'm not sure if that's definite.

I see what you mean she does have a youthful look, but I think most MSD do. I'm certain mine won't end up looking like a little girl when I'm done with her :kitty2

    14. Teehee Allstar I am really curious to see what you'll do with her :))

    15. Yay! It's one of my favorites. Who are you doing it with?

    16. I'm not sure if she's on topic yet but its a Kaykedolls Coffee.
I've made a pinterest board (here) for how she's gonna look if you're interested :)

And to keep this more on topic this is my pinterest board inspiration for my Momoni (damn she needs a name). Does any one else collect inspiration like this for incoming dolls? I guess its like nesting hehe. What do you guys do?

    17. She's absolutely precious <3 Wouldn't fit in with my girls but I love her

    18. Ha, we've even pinned some of the same things! I love it, and can't wait to see your afro punk girl. Here's the board for my Momoni, still very much in progress.

    19. She is really cute, bit her price at dolk station is really high :atremblin

    20. How is the doll there? I don't find Momoni expensive for an artist doll.

    21. Your link just went to the main page of Dolk for me, and I can't find her on the English version of Dolk either.

Edit: and the price you gave is much higher than Flonne's price! I would go through artist's site if you want her, especially since she does 2 and 3 part layaways.

    22. I would love to get her in cocoa skin but sadly she's out of my price range.

    23. Yes you are right, the price is not so high for a high quality doll
I don't know dolk have many quality companies but their prices always is much higher than the oficial store, something about 100 dollars, and I live in Japan, I don't know, but I think the only good side is that is easier to pay and I pay less to get it shipped

      It's dolkus
DOLKSTATION - Ball Jointed Dolls Shop - Shop of BJD Dolls
Yes the price is higher, for that doll nena02 in the official site it's write "ask for it" for that doll, but the price is around 500

    24. @Belledoll I agree with @Redrosette. If the price is $100 more on that site, then it would be much cheaper to go through the atelier Momoni even if shipping is more. And like Redrosette said you can use the layaway option! :)

    25. Momoni is such a lovely doll. I'd love to get her in both colors, but as things are, I'll be happy if I can afford to order just one - and only on layaway, of course. Also I do have a hard time deciding which skin color to get, at the moment I lean towards cocoa, but sand is also tempting. What to do, what to do...

    26. Ha! Get the Cocoa.. the Cocoa ^^;

    27. *_* I'll get the Cocoa, I'll get the Cocoa, I'll get... *_* [hypnotized mode off]

I still don't know how, but I'll have to manage it. :XD:

    28. I second @Amanohara 's recommendation of the Cocoa, but sadly I don't have any magic powers of encouragement. ;)

    29. Okay, so I'll be getting a Cocoa Momoni. On layaway and I'll probably live on Ramen for the next three months and all, but it doesn't matter, I'll be getting her.

    30. We're going to have so many beautiful cocoa girls. I can't wait!

    31. Yay for more Cocoa! Lola's work is featured in Bjdcollectasy! ~Atelier Momoni~

    32. Let the Coco skinned girl army thrive! It is a shame that darker skinned resin is harder to make correctly, especially when they can look so nice with certain sculpts like Momoni.

    33. I already asked Atelier Momoni about any issues with her darker tan and there is no marbling or seams on Cocoa Momoni, it may be the resin used, it's gorgeous.

    34. I think its much easier for companies to produce darker resin in small batches. My girl in my profile pic is even darker than the cocoa IRL and doesn't have one imperfection. My other dark tan girl is the same. Both are from limited productions from Jpopdolls. Resin casting company Haru Casting also makes a lot of tan colours, in small batches, with seemingly no imperfections although I don't own a doll cast by them (yet).

I'm sooo excited everyone's ordering her, especially in cocoa. I kind of begged Lola to release her in this colour :sweat

Any one else wanna share there plans for their girl if they have them??

I'm thinking of names for mine, atm I'm liking Danica, Amaia, Malia and Zola :kitty2

    35. @Allstar It's because of your Tumblr that I started looking at Atelier Momoni~ but some days too late! :sweat I think I would've liked to have ordered a Cocoa Momoni as well... but both tones are so cute!

    36. Those are pretty names @Allstar Zola and Danica are my favs personally.
@designedforsmiles hopefully sometime in the future there will another opportunity to get one, this sculpt may just get added to my ever growing BJD wishlist!

    37. Flonne is so awesome! She sent me some complicated head measurements so I could order my girl's custom wig. It'll take 6-8 weeks to make, so I should have her and her wig around the same time. Yay!

@Allstar love those names! Zola's my favorite.

    38. I like your name choices, Allstar. And I do think they all would be great names.

As for mine, I haven't really thought about it until now, but I think I'm going to name her Denise and she will probably be into lacy and frilly romantic/mori style clothing. However plans may still change until she's here. Dolls have the strange habit to develop their own personalities, so I'm careful with planning too much before I have the doll in hand xD.

    39. I'm hoping after this release she'll do some lovely fantasy colors! :) I love dark tones but lately I've had a leaning toward pastels.

    40. I'm so excited for the Momoni doll, I'm going to dress her up like a flower/forest girl as well! I don't know about the wig yet, I wish I could find a nice red wig for her, for now I have a pink and brown one reserved :blush

    41. Does anyone know when Momoni will be shipped?

    42. Well the preorder ended April 5th, and the listing says it will take 90 days. But I'm not sure if that's business days only... :aeyepop:

    43. That means 1st week of August if business days, 1st week of July if all days, right?

    44. Oh, I hope it's not only business days, because that would mean she'd be ready for shipping next month already.

    45. 1st week of july would be awweeesome :love

    46. Indeed - I already have clothes together and that means my girl's wig and she would likely arrive around the same time!

    47. Aw guys I asked Lola and she said its 90 working days

    48. Understandable, but still phooey.

    49. :pout: Well poop. I guess that will give me plenty of time to work on some clothes and a wig for her. I really want her wig to be more an Afro-natural texture.

    50. If you want to do locs, braids, or twists, felting wool has a perfect texture and comes in lots of different colors.

    51. That's a good idea. I had thought about locs cause I have them but I hadn't decided yet. I've seen a few already made that I liked the style but not the colors.

    52. Nice! I'm slowly putting together locs for another doll as my Momoni will be sporting an updo with her natural 4A type curls, and the wool is working great. I've also had success with really chunky alpaca yarn when pulled apart in sections and then rolled/braided/twisted, but that's more expensive and tends to only come in blacks and browns.

    53. What are you using for Momoni's curls? I have a MDR mousse and right now she has a long straight wig simply because I couldn't figure out what to use for a short curly wig.

    54. I got her wig custom made because of style/dying I wanted that I didn't think I'd be able to do, but the artist used Masham sheep's wool. Here's SophyMolly's (from Etsy) photo of the wig: link

    55. Omg That is so adorable. I was attempting to make a wig with Wensleydale wool but I think it was just too much for the doll I was working on. It might work with a larger doll like Momoni

    56. Oh that wig is sooo cute RedRosette and thanks for the tips, I can't decide between loc or braids for a different doll so it's good to know a good option for both!

I wanna make a wig like this for my Momoni The best jacket khaki but I can't decide what fibre will be best

    57. Thank you both! I can't wait to get my girl now that I have her wig in hand. Although I still haven't finished making her eyes, so maybe I should be more happy I have more time. ;)

Allstar, for a wig like that I would go with alpaca. It often has natural curls like your reference picture, and if not can easily be wetted, brushed, and curled by wrapping it around straws and letting it dry.
