Asleep Eidolon (AE Int'l) minis discussion part 2

Lovely seeing some Asleep Eidolon minis,
I just ordered my coral from a chinese taobao seller, she'll be arriving in 70 days (eek)
Can anyone tell me what wig size they take? It seems they have 7inch head circ. so would 6-7 wigs fit her?
or is 7-8 a better size for her? I have some 6-7 wigs for my unoa so I'm hoping it'll fit her...

 

I have a custom made wig for my Coral, but pretty sure she can wear 6/7 wigs. I'd need to check to be sure though. :P The Coral head is pretty small, so I don't think you'll have much to worry about with the wigs you already got.

 

[MENTION=62245]Karmiya[/MENTION]: I've had lots of problems with MSC, so I switched over to using that Zokeimura Fininishing Powder you can get from the Volks store. I had to get it anyway because MSC has kind of a white-ish cast to it? so it makes tan dolls look weird. ZM spray doesn't do that, and so far I've had a lot more luck with it not acting funny in higher humidities.

I've noticed that with the ankles/knees. I'm not as worried about the kneecaps getting damaged, but sometimes they get a bit stuck and don't slide out right... xD

I like the way the body looks a lot. ^^ It's just hard to buy pre-made clothes. I'm slowly getting better at sewing, though, so hopefully I can make her more clothes that fit her better. It also isn't really a problem with anything but pants/leggings. Dresses and skirst are fine. ^^

[MENTION=69663]geeonek[/MENTION]: 6-7 wigs, I've found, are generally too small for my Coral. Mint on Card sent a 6/7 wig with her when I bought her, and I couldn't even get it on her head. It probably depends on how much stretch the wig has, though. That one didn't have very stretchy elastic. I've always gotten her 7-8 wigs, though, and they fit perfectly.

I'm sorry about the wait, though ^^; And I'd agree with ChronicallySpaced- a 6/7 wig might work, but it will depend on its make, and also the style! I tried a 6/7 wig on my Pear, and it was dreadful. It fit on with some stretching, but the fringe and hair just weren't made to frame an msd head, so it gave the impression of this odd receding hairline... You can always try your 6/7 wigs which you already have and see if any might work (maybe if they're longer?), but if you're getting new ones I'd definitely just go for 7/8 to be sure of a good fit.
[MENTION=57781]ChronicallySpaced[/MENTION]: I'm actually poking around at a method which doesn't involve aerosol sealants at all. I have some fears of gas masks and using toxic materials at all, and for various reasons I just don't feel comfortable taking my doll outside... Well, it's more convenient for me to figure something else out. And while it's not going to be as durable as a regular MSC-style faceup, I think I'm getting a method sorted out which will work for me ^^

The knees do look good that way, though ^^ I'm always very happy with the variety of sitting poses she can handle comfortably. The way her swivel thigh part can be manoeuvred out to bring one thigh higher up than the other is also very useful.

Ah, none of my dolls will wear trousers anyway (okay, except maybe one), so that's easier at least! Obviously my own preferences influence my character designs, which in turn influence my dolls ^^;;

Yeah! I'm always impressed how well that body sits. When I first got her, I used to like to bring her to work when I was working overtime and pose her in cute sitting positions on my desk. There was never anyone else in the office, so it was fun to have her there keeping me company.

Haha hey, at least your preferences are convenient. xD I really want to get Takara some more dress-like outfits, but I don't have any doll funds right now. There is a whole lot of fabric around, though, so I need to stop being lazy and try not to fail at sewing.

 

Ahhh, all your dolls are so pretty! I'm definitely sure Coral and Cherry are the perfect sculpts for Kara and Jun now ^^ It's gonna be a few months before I get them paid off, but I'm already so excited!!

I'm just so excited, I can hardly stand it! They're gonna be my first MSDs too, so that'll be cool. My best friend has an MSD so I'm sort of used to the size, but I'll have some of my very own!!

Very excited! I now have my very own Coral. Have wanted one for a long time, and now I have her! She's gorgeous and I have named her Iris. I just love AE - I have several of their tinies as well (Donut, Chocolate and Adzuki Bean). I need to buy some clothes for her, as I don't have much MSD clothing. Where does everyone like to shop for AE girls? And what "size" fits best? I'll share pictures later.

Does anyone know if the orders are leaning more toward the 20-ish week or the 45-ish week mark? It'd be cool to know if I can expect the girls I ordered in July before April, I'm going to SakuraCon in late March and would love to bring them! Anyone got news on that front?

Hello! I recently got a jiao Jr in a trade and I love her! So dainty! I don't know much about AE so I'm trying to learn more about my girl. She appears to be older. Her headcap is the type that the hook connects to and she has old style knees. Anyone know when she might have been made? I was told 2012.

I don't know all that much about AE either, but I do know that they change the body designs more frequently than many companies. If she has a hook on her headcap, then she's probably quite old!

Hmm. I just checked my girl's certificate, and she's listed as being made in July 2012. Or is that bought? Gosh, I can't even remember how long I've had her! Anyway, she's much more modern, probably still the newest 1/4 body or close to? She has a headcap with no magnets which twists into place on her head, and he s-hook goes in her neck like normal (thank goodness).

AE 42cm Girl Body

Here's the current body on MoC. The pictures don't do it justice, but as far as I can tell it's the same body my girl has.

Again, I'm no expert on AE, but I know that their earlier bodies were much slimmer, whereas the new one is much curvier than most msds.

It would probably help if you posted a picture of her, then maybe someone with an older AE doll could help you guesstimate when she's from!

 

Wow!!! My doll came yesterday and I must say I love her posing. Its an Aure sculpt and I am in love with her. I ordered an outfit through alice collections and can't wait to show you all. My computer for some reason is having trouble with Flickr and when I go to copy the link it doesn't work.

She's so cute, congrats! Hmm. Again, I'm just not that familiar with the days of this style of headcap. It's possible it's just from very early 2012, but I'm not sure? The single-jointed knees must be an older design than the body mine has, though... Do you have a picture of her naked? It would help to see the whole body, since AE's msds have had big aesthetic changes over the years.

Aha! I knew I'd seen something with the old body. They're not properly labelled, just listed left to right in the description, but here you can see the old body and the new body. The picture was taken in 2010...

So I just stumbled across AE sculpts today and I am absolutely in love with Mini Snow. I'm so sad there aren't any pictures of her off the site though. And are AE waiting times really as terribly long as I'm hearing?

After almost a year of having her, my lovely Iris finally has a complete outfit of her own. I made her sweater a little bigger than I really wanted, but she still looks pretty cute. Her skirt was made from an old shirt of mine.

So I've got a dolly project that might be pretty far down the pipeline but AE Jiao jr. Fits the character perfectly. With MOC no longer allowing preorder for AE where are people ordering them from?

 

As far as I know, MOC is the only North American dealer for AE. Your best bet is to either wait for an MOC preorder to happen (it will eventually), keep checking for in stock dolls, or try to find a second hand one. You could try to order directly from the company, but their English website is not very user friendly.

 

I think that this may be a place to buy them, but I don't really know where it is. I just remembered another user here buying one of their AE mermaids there.

 

If you don't mind ordering internationally, you could consider LegendDoll.

I had wondered why that name seemed so unfamiliar. Where do you get the name from?
Both on Legenddoll and Dolk station, I saw that they ere using Lanmei for Blueberry's sculpt name instead, maybe it's the same for Ningmeng (if you're using one of those places)?

Ahha, i think Ningmeng refers to the face-up but the sculpt is Cherry. I'm not sure if Cherry and Lemon are the same sculpt or not, it looks like the corners of the eyes and mouth shape look slightly different but that could just an effect of the face-up XD But I am getting a little more luck looking up Cherry so thanks for the help

I found putting Lanmei in Google translate gives me Blueberry, while Ningmeng gives me Lemon, so I think it might have been a mixup/translation error (specially since AE calls them the fruit sisters, Blueberry, Lemon, Cherry, Orange).

I'm rather happy with their quality, @Selenae . The posing of these bodies is pretty fantastic. I'd show a composed shot of my AE girls, but theyre both out for face ups..

I can, however, show a photo of how the body poses. My single complaint would be that the wrist has almost no range, but that is 100% fixed with a pair of kips.

I really like Cordelia and Dione Sadly I can't afford them

Is it just me or do some of them look like their torsos are different from the usual AE torsos? (though it might be what the XAGADOLL 42cm girl body Ver.II might be referring to).

Anyone have plans for any of these girls or boy?

I'm planning on ordering one, but I'm waffling between the colors. Tempted by the pastel ombre and the blueish gold tails. Oh, how I wish Asleep Eidolon offered tanskin for their mermaids.

 

The pastel one looks really pretty, I hope someone orders it because I'd love to see owner photos. I'm swaying towards the dark blue one myself.

If they did offer tan it'd look amazing next to the pastel ombre one.

 

I can't believe I didn't notice the pastel ombre tail! I wonder how they'll do that?

 

Gosh, I also want to order Arweil, but hate ordering it through a distributor. But I guess I have no choice, LOL. He's the first mermaid type BJD I fell in love with, he's just really serene and calm looking. Perfect for a *cough uke* shy character. LOL.

 

I'm not a huge fan of going through distributers either but if it's for this sweet guy, I'll deal with it I've always wanted a merman BJD and he's absolutely perfect!

I definitely share the shy *coughUkecough* character sentiment as well, he's just too precious with that face of his.
