Ahh! Hello, everybody. Sorry for disappearing for a bit. I've got some drama going on right now with my job situation, so that's been taking up a lot of my attention. Lovely Aures, though!! It really is a sculpt you don't see around much, so it's a real treat for you to share yours with us.

It took me a really long time, but I finally finish redoing my Coral's face. So here's Takara! Sorry for the awful cell phone picture. I need to take one with my good camera soon. I also got a bit fatigued after putting her eyelashes in and haven't glued her piercings back on.

Hi everyone! I posted in this thread awhile back about my Asleep Eidolon Blueberry, Tali!

She now has a new body and a new faceup - overall new look, really. She's on a DollZone body, B45-005. The resin match is pretty much perfect (normal skin/nps), and I love her even more than before. I'm hoping to get her out and get some better pictures of her very soon!


Also, Aure is on my list, she's so lovely!

Aw, thanks! :3 I didn't make her wig, this is actually an Angell-Studio one! My mom got it for me for my birthday. I lovelovelove it! I do want to make wigs like it, though. I love those pigtail braids! o.O

Ohh very cool. Yeah, the pigtails were what really caught my interest. I don't often see fur wigs with that much length (but after going to AS's site, I see now they're detachable?? interesting!!). Regardless, that wig suits her really well.

Thank you so much. ^^ I feel like I'm just the opposite of you! XD I really admire people who can sew well. I've made a few clothing items for my dolls, but they don't usually look too good. I get frustrated easily when I'm sewing and I tend to give up. But I guess at least I feel slightly better knowing that I'm not the only one who ended up with something that was unusable at the end. XD

 

Yes, they are detachable! I think they're so neat! They had a white version as well, but I love this one! The white is sold out now. Thank you. ^_^

Haha, so many failed attempts over here. Sometimes I get really frustrated, but I keep trying! Except with faceups. After two, I WAS DONE. No more! Sewing for the AE body wasn't too bad, either. I really like their shape. I love Tali on this DZ body though. It's like it was made for her, to me! She's much more the way I wanted her to be.

 

So she's on a DZ body? It really does look like it was made for her! I quite like the AE body, myself. ^^ It can be a pain to find clothes, though, since they're not slim minis, but their measurements don't fall within standard MSD size, either. XD

Hey there, Asatsuya! I lovelovelove my Blueberry so much. She's my favorite of my dolls! I did however get her a different body. She's on a DollZone B45-005 body. I liked the AE body and all, it's very cute, but I had a lot of problems getting her to stand most of the time, and being too scared to suede her, I just decided to get her a different body. It was actually kind of a surprise? I got an Aimi and I didn't like her head on her own body (her neck looked bulbous compared to her neck-hole). So I tried Tali's, my Blueberry, head on the body and fell in love! I think there is a picture on the previous page of her standing. I can't remember, if not I'll get one. I'd highly recommend a Blueberry. I smile every time I see mine! She's my favorite sculpt ever!

I made a collage of the Stages of Tali, developing her. She's changed so much! The bottom, last picture is what she looks like now and how she will stay. Sometimes I do put the bottom left wig on her. I do like it too, still. xD


I can't really think of any cons. I really love Asleep Eidolon dolls. I'm pretty sure Asleep Eidolon is my favorite company.

Hi!

I'm curious, has anyone tried changing out their AE's hands to the graceful hands or whatever they're called?

I tried it out, and oh my gosh it was a disaster. I was really excited to change them, since they're double jointed and the default hands are single with the hand and wrist fused. Her tight stringing made it tough, of course, but the biggest problem was the s-hook. I think its sizing needs to be different depending on the hand or something, because again, disaster. The regular hand just has a little loop that's easy to pull off, but the ball-joint on the grace hand won't fit through with the s-hook as it is, I think? So I got out a clamp and changed it so the wrist would fit, and when I finally got the hand on, it was floppy? I had put the ball-joint on backwards or something! And then it was a HUGE nightmare to get it off, because the wrist was now unable to come back off the s-hook. It was an hour long drama and the wrist joint was scratched quite a bit, and in the end it was all I could do just to get the regular single-joint wrist back on! It was really terrifying.

Normally I like her tight stringing- it's not so tight that it makes her snap back or anything, just enough that she has good tension, and between that and her heavy resin I find she holds poses really well. But evidently it is a nightmare if you want to change parts out! A part of me is still tempted, since I have those hands and they cost money and stuff, plus they're pretty, but it's so scary that I'm not sure I want to risk it.

 

[MENTION=62245]Karmiya[/MENTION]: I'm afraid I've never tried out those hands myself. xP Out of curiousity, could you take some pictures of the hands that were giving you trouble? Sounds like they were a pain in the butt to deal with though. x 3x; I wish more doll companies used mag-on hands.

@littlegreycoconut: I think it's actually not the hands but just the s-hooks being a pain. I also have an Only-Doll whose wrists are totally unsuited to hand-changing, despite having different hands available, bc in the first gen body the hooks are totally closed. Anyway, these glamour hands are really very nice, with the double-jointed wrist and cute little sculpted fingernails which would look great with polish, but the difficulty in attaching them is a turn-off ><

Ooh. Short of just doing magnet hands... they should come with their own s-hooks which are at the right configuration for them already! Because as it is, I think I might need to tighten the hook to get these hands on, but if that doesn't work, well, it's really hard to loosen the hook again to fit the original hands.

Aurora looks lovely, and the lighting in your photo is great, too. I think it's just a trick of the light, but the silk ribbon almost looks like one of those fancy ones with variegated dyeing- it's a nice effect ^^

@Singull: Riyo looks great! And ooh, so that's what printed glasses look like. I've always been leery of the printed glasses, but they work really well!

I'll probably take a picture of the hands tomorrow. I tried today, but the lighting was really bad and I didn't have the energy to schlepp out any extra lamps, so my pictures all turned out awful.

I got them ages ago because they were in stock when I was ordering my also in stock Pear, and since AE has such a long ordering time, I thought, 'why not' and have had them hanging around ever since.

Riyo's hair looks great, but even through the photo I can tell that it's a frizzy mane of Hermione Granger proportions. Which is great, but tough on a doll wig. Every time you try to style them hairs inevitably come out, and they won't grow back like ours! What new wig are you thinking of getting for her?

I'm getting excited about painting the nails now, actually! I have some new s-hooks and elastics coming (just in case), so I can test how to get the wrist joints on the s-hooks without the constant 'what if I change something and the regular hands nor these can fit back on' drama xD

 

I went and look at those hands and .... they are pretty!
But I couldn't for the life of me now remember what does my girlie's hands look like.... It does sound like a nightmare to switch them out though, I am going to have to have a look when I get home.
I had a bigger AE boy before and I did remember taking his hands out are not the easiest task.

 

OK, I think something is actually wrong with the wrist joints of these hands. I just got a small order of elastic, extra s-hooks, and silicone kips... Anyway, I took a sacrifice hook from the small set and tried adjusting it as much as possible, using a clamp to tighten it up as much as possible while still leaving it usable... It STILL couldn't fit the wrist!

And then I thought, well maybe you're supposed to put the wrist and hand together and just get the s-hook through that way. So I tried, and I'm pretty sure it still can't fit! Neither a normal s-hook nor the super-narrowed one could make it through to the little hook on the hand. The only thing I can think of now is that they need some sort of super-long and narrow s-hook which regular companies don't even sell (I have a doll with those, but I have decided never to change her hands).

I almost want to contact MoC about this! I know it's been something like 2+ years, but I'm pretty miffed that I paid for a set of hands which I can't for the life of me get on my doll ><

Or I'll just stick the hands in the top drawer of my dolly dresser and try to forget I ever saw them xD

I've never tried styling a wig with any sort of product, but could that help give it more lasting power than just the water? After all, any hair that's naturally inclined to frizz just seems to view water as a source of brand new frizziness ^^;

it was hard to show since she is also strung really tightly. xD But maybe if you ask MoC, they can send you the right size hooks? You would think they would have some extra ones. I checked my Doll Chateau mini since she has a similar wrist mechanism, and she has long hooks too, but they're larger than the ones my AE girl has. :/

It could be possible that someone didn't properly clear out the are the hook is supposed to go in after it was casted. It probably would be a good idea to put them aside for a little while though, especially if you're getting frustrated with them. They're not going anywhere, you can always mess with the hands at a later time.

Ah, and you know what? I actually have some pomade that I use with my other doll wigs (mainly with my faux fur wigs so they keep their shape after I style them, plus flyaways with the other wigs I have). idk why I never thought to try it out on Riyo's. Not sure how well it'll work, but it's work a try. xD

Takara's eyeshadow and lipstick are lovely! Did you do her faceup? And her mismatched eyes are great. They sort of blend until you really look at the eyes, and then suddenly they pop. It's very cool ^^

I remember seeing it mentioned on a cosplay site for styling their wigs, so I figured it'd be handy for dolls. It's pretty nice! A little goes a long way, and it doesn't make the hair all hard and gross like I know some hair styling products tend to do.

Baaah, speaking of faceups, I really wanna send Riyo out to get a new one, but...fjdskal sending doll heads out to be painted is such a pain in the butt. x 3x

S-hook sizes vary so much that it just would be a much more practical set-up. Of course, it could be worse- my tiny Only-Doll who's gen1 has s-hooks which are long and totally connected, so I have no idea how I'd get them off without destroying them! Fortunately I've decided never to order their extra hand parts xD

Ooh, I'm impressed! She really looks lovely. And I just checked your DA- I love your most recent photo of her! It shows off her makeup beautifully. It must be good to have her all set like that and be ready to leave her as she is for a while ^^

My poor girls are all currently headless xD But I'm really hoping I can give them faceups I like soon and be set that way so I can focus on some other stuff like clothes...they're also all naked xD But I'm so scared of messing up their faces on the early steps and having to clean and then seal them all over again ^^;

Yeah, it's nice. I'm notorious for redoing my dolls' faces over and over again... my roomie [MENTION=57852]Haiiro[/MENTION] tends to just roll her eyes any time I say I want to redo someone's face. xD So... it's really nice to feel satisfied with how she looks.

Don't be too scared! I gave one of my MSDs a face up, and I was loving how the blushing was going, but then there was an accident with the MSC that completely ruined it. I basically lost 4 hours of work. In the end, though... I liked it even better after I re-did it, and it's still one of my favorite face ups to date. You can do it!

I really like the new AE body. I don't have any experience with the old one to compare, of course, but... it poses really well. I don't ever have to fight with her to get her to hold a pose, especially when she's sueded (but I think most of it needs to be redone at this point). The only issue I have with it is trying to find clothes that fit. The old body is more of a slim mini and the new one definitely is not. xD Her butt is huge. I've had to alter some leggings I got her to make sure they stay up over her caboose.

 

The new hooks finally came, and they work! They're still a bit of a tight fit, so I'll use this clamp tool thingie I have to pinch them in just a tad more. But basically, they work ^^

My favourite jewellery site has a $5 flat-rate charge for shipping, which is so great if you're ordering a lot of stuff, or just one heavy thing, but awful if you just want one strand of beads or something. I already have started and had to clean her! Fortunately I just use watercolour and stuff, so I could wash her off easily without worrying about the sealant underneath

My only real complaints are that her ankles kind of...creak? Or they don't want to stay in place, but once they do they're okay? I'm thinking of adding some silicone kips to them to see if that helps (I added one to her neck so her s-hook wouldn't scratch her any more, too). And her knees! The thin cover creates a nice curve, but it's so delicate and her stringing is so tight... With most of my dolls I can just let their knees snap back into their normal position, but I always have to take the time to slowly adjust them back so that no harm is done!

But overall I love her. She's just so beautiful- enough so that even if she posed awfully I wouldn't care. But then, I think my dolls could all pose like sacks of potatoes and I'd be happy as long as they have beautiful bodies A bad poser can be fixed- an ugly sculpt is for life!

Aw, but I love her big bum! It's so curvy, and she sits beautifully because of it. I can leave her sitting for ages in some really graceful poses, and so even when I'm not doing anything with her for a while I look over at her and she's all pretty ^^ But of course, since I'm going to sew dresses for her, clothes fitting isn't such an issue ^^;;
