Are your dolls in a rock band?! Do they play a musical instrument?

My lad Sam whom i'm picking up tomorrow morning (spasms of joy!) is a drummer and I have been wondering where I would get drums for him for a while now (thinking of having a go at making him some). He wasn't really inspired by anything, though he's into rock and metal

 

Mine are. I have three singers, and two play guitars. I have those, but I don't have anything else.

 

My SD's just decided to start a rock band. Lyric is my song-writer and singer, who I just bought a Volk's Dolpha microphone and mic stand off of ebay for. Rafael is my composer and keyboardist, still looking for one of those. Cye is the band manager and bass guitarist, also looking for that. Annabelle is my drummer (I don't have her yet but will be ordering her in august), and I've been searching everywhere for drums, please if anyone finds them, let me know! Branch is my guitarist and I'm in the process of trying to buy him a guitar.

So yes, they have a band, the band is costing me a fortune. lol. It's like been taking over all my time, getting the dolls for the band, and finding all the proper props.

I may have to make the drums or the keyboard because I just can't find them.

 

Not exactly a band yet, but I do have a couple characters who would like to start one.

 

No, but if I ever get the Iplehouse Lee I've been wanting he will be. Teacher by day, masked visual kei bassist by night to help support all the little dolls. XD

 

Found a drum set, but it's MSD size...wonder if it would work for an SD?

Well... my three girls will at least play music together (violin, flute and piano), not like an official band, but just for fun in their spare time. Mostly because I want to buy a violin and a flute for my dollies.

 

My Jason (Limwha Mano) has a guitar - & a couple of my girls like kareoke.... maybe as I write they will clamor to form a band LOL

 

Yes I do! A few, actually. Ivory Stardust and I run a BJD role play site that is night club themed.

The house band Jokers Day, is made up of her characters.

Dusk til Death is a Finnish metal band, inspired by HIM, 69 Eyes, Lordi.....and they do 80's hair metal too. Made up of Hansel on vocals, Axl on guitar, Olli on keyboards, Erik on drums and Gunnar (Ivory Stardust's) on bass.

Dysfunction is a modern punk band inspired by Green Day, Blink-182 and similar bands. Made up of Loki on vocals and guitar, Billie on lead guitar, Mike on drums and Bree (owned by Ivory Stardust) on bass.

Equinox is an old school punk band inspired by Sex Pistols, Ramones, Buzzcocks, Dead Kennedys, etc. Made up of Olli on vocals and bass, Quinn (owned by Ivory Stardust) on vocals and guitar and Erik on drums.

and we also have a girl rock band and pop boy band in progress. :P

 

I don't own either of them any more.... but I used to have a pair of little resin rockers. XD

Shatterglass and Shakti (an Elf Shiwoo and Juri '05 mod) were resin versions of a pair of Shadowrun tabletop RPG characters who were musicians in circa-2060 Seattle.

Though not a rocker per se, I do still have one musician in the crew. William Adolphus (SV Breakaway), my reluctant Austrian vampire, is a classical composer and violinist.

 

I have gotten 2 guys and the head for a third one, that are part of a 5 guys band.

, the the lead guitar player: Infinitidoll SID Ryan limited - Kei
and the head of the second guitar player: Infinitidoll SID Yuki 2009 x-mas event head - Chiaki

My boy Silvester is the lead singer in a band. He started it with a couple close friends when he was a kid. I still have to get everyone else in the band, but he's content because he has his younger sister Teya and Tsume.
The band is definitely inspired by J-rock/visual kei groups, but all the guys in it are going to be very different form each other, and won't all like the same styles.

 

I don't have a -band- in mind...but I -am- in the process of trying to find the perfect doll to portray another one of my OC's, who is a solo-artist (vocals/guitar) of the J-Rock/Visual Kei variety. His stage name is "Akugi",and he has a thing for neon colors. The hard part about basing dolls off of existing OC's? I can be extremely picky. (Both face AND body type have to fit). I don't know if/when I'll be able to get this boy, but I'm keeping an eye out. He's going to be a difficult one to work with due to the hair I want for him being hard to find, as well as his overall taste in clothing....but we'll see. I've got plenty of time find him. Too broke to do anything about it right now anyway. ^^;

 

i got two yet to be ordered that will be, one is a guitarist, the other will play the battery. mom will get me one for christmas and the other one will come later when i have some available funds of my own, iam currently seeking to buy the musical instruments for them and the other people in the band so far are 2 girls, and they will join them later eventually

 

Funnily enough two of the dolls I want to purchase in the future make up a pop singing duo- not exactly rock (more like new school rock). What's funny is another one of my dolls is going to be a huge fan of theirs. xP

 

I have the makings of two bands!

The first one I'm working on is Nittle Grasper, one of the bands from the series Gravitation. So far I have Sakuma Ryuichi, who's the vocalist and lyricist, and I'm currently saving for Seguchi Tohma, keyboardist and backup vocals. then I'll need Ukai Noriko, backup keyboardist and backup vocals.

My second band so far has the lead guitarist and lyricist, Chiyoko. I don't have a band name yet for her band.

Far off in the future I have plans for Bad Luck and Ask from Gravitation. I also have a band for a manga I'm writing that I'll be shelling as well.

Wow, I guess most of my dolls will be in bands or affiliated with them somehow!

Three of my current dolls are in a band, or will be when I find the right sculpt for the vocalist. They're a Led Zeppelin cover band and it gives them all something to do in their retirement. They call themselves No Quarter. They're the dolls in my collection that you would probably least expect to be in a band, except probably Marcus. He's the only one who looks like a musician (a blues musician, but still a musician).

As for props, I've managed to find an SD guitar and not much else yet. I'd love to get a drum set, but I have no idea where I would put it.

 

Back when I was 15 I created a couple of bands. Even wrote lyrics and designed cd covers for them.
Now that I have bjds (some of them are/were in a band) I guess I could pick it up again and buy them instruments.
Jamie (Kid Delf Ttori) was in a band as a vocalist
Kiyoharu (Migidoll Jina) was the band's guitarist/vocalist
Yukito (Switch Rusi girl) was in another band as a drummer
At first the band used to be a big thing but I thought I'd keep it realistic
and change the band from a indie band singned to a small label to just a bunch of friends playing their instruments for fun.
Their genre changed from visual-kei to alternative rock/electro
One thing I have to do though is get Jamie a SD version so the band would make more sense.

 

Tyler (RS Mai) plays guitar and piano. He has his guitar, but we're still looking for an affordable piano for him. He's in a folk-rock group with his cousin and a couple of friends.

 

Naoya is the drummer in a rock band (that still hasnt got a name).
Luckily his parents support him a lot.

Kikei made the band, since he's the only one I have for the band ^-^

I often imagining that they are. Of course, they'd all be singing. Johann is good with many instruments, but would go for a set of keyboard machines, Cirrus would do drums, Saito on bass guitar. Shinta and Anje would alternate on guitar.

Chaeri's primary ambition is to be a stand-up comic, but she's actually a fairly accomplished singer and musician. Her "image" voice is Hayley Williams from Paramore, though sometimes I adopt songs from other artists for her (e.g., Lenka's "Heart Skips A Beat").

 

Yes, currently two of my male dolls (Duke and Tyler) and one female (Sabra) are in a band called "Stumblebliss", plus Maxim who was the founder of the band is no longer in it. Sullivan hasn't joined yet. I am still finishing their instruments, I have two guitars, a bass and a set of drums. Plus a mike and a practice amp. I really want Sabra to play a keytar (or at least a keyboard), if I can scrounge something up for her!

I came up with the idea for them when Duke came home, he told me quite clearly that he was a drummer right away! I had never had a BJD musician before he came home, though I'm a musician myself and always wanted one of my dolls to be musical. I was watching the anime "Beck" at the time Duke arrived, and it was a huge inspiration for me to start a rock band.



They play modern alternative rock, and they all sing. For now they are doing a lot of covers and a few original songs written by the lead male singer (Tyler). They've been together a few years but haven't made it big yet, and they have a strong local following and a dedicated venue.

Oh, that is so funny! One of my best friends is a drummer in a Led Zeppelin tribute band called "No Quarter" out of Seattle! There's more than one (RL) tribute band called that, apparently.

I suppose I do have three dollies in a pop-band with a circus concept, so I guess they'd be a strange sight to see, I mostly tend to draw my inspiration from K-pop and Cirque du Soleil though I think the main problem I have with them is the fact I really don't know how to make their costumes, I got the amps, the microphones and stuff, basically I have the needed props besides their outfits, the promotional poster and their fans.

 

Aithne my Minifee/ Unoa does the occasional local show as a singer. She likes open mic nights, and tends to sing Pop, alt, rock or indie sort of music- a pretty broad range that will sometimes include showtunes if she's feeling dramatic.

 

I've got a couple of resident rockstars over here. Jersey's the singer, lyricist and lead guitarist. (The other 3 are filling in for missing band members during the shot lol)

All of my guys but one are in bands as a part of their back story. The bands/groups are sort of on hiatus but the guys collaborate now and then for fun. They all randomly met each other at a small indy music festival in Ohio through a mutual love of music.

Cas isn't in a rock band per say, but he does create music. He uses guitar, synthesizer, and his laptop for the music. I have found a synth/keyboard his size at Crobidoll but it is $250 so haven't bought it yet. Cas even has a soundcloud page with his music (music I actually have recorded on my own). His group name is Rezin.

Has anyone else actually made music for their dolls characters?

 

All my doll original characters are grouped in bands under the Visual-Kei label Velvet Crown. I am just starting out in this hobby but I have only planned one band so far there will be quite few when I am done. The band I have established is a visual kei band called Tsuki-Mochi or Moon Mochi. The memebers are Vocalist Tino Puera or his stage name Usagi, Guitarist Magnus Vinter(winter) or his stage name Naoki , Guitarest Frej(freyer) Vinter ( Winter) or His Stage name Teru, bassist Loki wolff or his stage name Arisu , Drummer Matthias Bager or his stage name Tora and keyboardist Emil steilson or his stage name YukiTheir pretty famous being the senpai band in my label. Even though they are a japanese visual kei band in Tokyo japan they are all forgieners coming from nordic countries. Tino Is finnish , frej and mangus are swedish,loki is norweign ,matthias is danish and emil is icelandic. Velvet crown is a japanese visual kei indy label for forgieners mainly from europe . Im acutally getting magnus next he is a narcolpetic gutiarist who love winnie the pooh with a brother/wife complex

One of my characters is the lead vocals in a band and his twin brother is lead guitar. Once I find the perfect sculpt for them and save up a ton of money (SDs aren't cheap) I'll be able to start forming their band. I'm not sure at this point if I'll be shelling all of the band members as most of them haven't really been defined yet. But the band is like My Chemical Romance (Bullets and Revenge era) meets In This Moment. Terrifying right? I have yet to find the perfect name for their band.

 

Yes! I only have one of the members right now, but my girl(s) are in a Japanese Pop group called K.i.S.s.M.E. after each of the girl's Nick names-Kandy, Sunny, Melody, and Elektra. All but Kandy are 16, she is 17yrs old.

They are quite a popular group in Japan & South Korea, and Sunny has also put out a successful solo album.

But they sing Pop music, dance and club stuff, so this is relevant to this thread...?

I also have a boy solo artist that plays guitar and sings. His type of music is similar to Framing Hanley, Papa Roach, the White Stripes and such. He's still working on getting a band together, and I haven't found his perfect sculpt yet :confused:

I have a lot more back story to write & pictures (and mold/companies to buy!) to take but I love doing it!

None of my dolls are really in a band, but I do have one I own who plays an instrument (violin), and another planned who will play another instrument (piano). I do plan for them to bond over music, and for them to play duets together. I already own the violin (1:4 scale, off ebay, for my Soom Rosette), but I'm expecting I'll have to build the piano myself, since even if I could find a piano in 1:4 scale, I'd probably need to fiddle with the leg length (since my Rosette is on the 'pure' body, which has the classic super long legs). Plus, shipping prices for even a miniature piano would be pretty high!

 

I have one of those guitars! Here is a OOOLLLDDD pic of Chiyoko (FL/CP MNF Scarred Shiwoo) with her guitar. I guess its okay to post this pic here, since its a "game" thread, ne?

Two of my boys are in a band. Indigo or Indy with the copper hair is the singer and Darien is the lead guitarist. I am waiting on a couple of mics from Tata's and my boys already have their guitars. Here's a pic of them just mucking around.

I'm in the process of making an all "bigger" girl band. So far all I have is the guitarist. Her name is Sydney "Syd" and she's a Light tan RS Chun. I have the vocalist, Maria's head (Normal RS Ling). Her faceup was inspired by Maria Brink from In This Moment, my favorite band. The drummer, Zoey, an IMPL Dorisy will be the drummer...if IMPL gets their shit together. I wanted to get an IMPL Elvira to be the bassist named Amber, but after the recent BS with IMPL I'm not sure. I wanted a BJD sounding name so I am tentatively calling them Elastic Soul.

If anyone is looking for a good guitar for SD's or 70's I can show you a really nice one. I got mine from a car parts store (go figure) but I've seen the red strat versions on ebay for $40. Now for drums I'm lost so if anyone knows of a good set for a 65cm doll that doesn't cost as much as a used car let me know. I will have to check out TATA for the microphone

I originally found mine on a website, but since my laptop crashed, I can't find the website.

I DID, however find this by doing a search on ebay for "miniature musical instruments microphone." If its like the one Ryuichi has (it looks like the same one), its made of metal. The stand it comes with is more suited for smaller dolls. Ryuichi is a SD, in case you are wondering.

I haven't found the microphone with a cord yet, but I'm still looking!

Thanks No need to go through all that trouble for me lol. The girl I'll need it for doesn't even have a hand to hold it yet lol. The more I look at pictures of her namesake though, the more I think I'd just be better off making her a headset/earpiece. I did find THIS on TATA, though it's a kind of older style microphone and appears to be attached to the stand. The stand is telescopic though so that's cool.

I got mine from Tata's Paradise and they are really well made. The mic is metal and it has a cord attached

 

My doll isn't in a band persay, he is however a musician. I see him doing impromptu jam sessions. I am still fleshing his character out But one of the first things I've decided is that he's going to be a struggling musician.
I'd love to find a piano or keyboard for him, but I haven't had much luck so far. I will probably just end up making one for him in the future, once I get some more of his basics.

 

Congratulations on this. I was going to say that one of my next dolls was going to be an ex-rock star (of the J variety *cough*) but I'm glad to see that Grasper has fans.

 

My Darcy and his sister Finch are in a band. Called 'The Double D's'. Bpth play guitar and sing. Here is Darcy with his acoustic Johnny Cash replica.

 

My band's drummer arrived today. She's an IMPL star Dorisy and her name is Zoey. I'll try to post some pictures from my legit camera later. Too bad the little desktop drum set I got her on Black Friday was missing parts . Guess I'll just have to make em lol.
