Are there other web payment sites to use besides PayPal?

Feb 21, 2008

    1. With the new changes to Paypal and ebay, I was wondering if there were other companys that do the same thing?

I'd rather give my buisness to someone else considering their Nazi tactics.

    2. There's Google checkout, which is offered by some of the other auction/sale sites. Using them has been prohibited on ebay, though, since it owns paypal now and has a vested interest in seeing it used.

    3. I've heard of Moneybookers - but not sure if it has all the features for US customers? For the UK it looks great!

      Maybe WorldPay for the US?

    4. I thought there was another one on ebay, bidbuy or something like that.. as far as I know they can't tell us how to accept payment right? You can just post in your payment information when you type it out, just like saying you take mail order or check?

    5. PayPal is pretty much the only online payment form accepted on eBay - they listed (somewhere, hard to find list) others that are, but no one had ever heard of them that I spoke to, LOL!

I'm opening a Google CheckOut acc't to accept payments, and opened one for buying - that was very simple and only took a couple minutes. :D

    6. If you attempt to type either the words Google Checkout or cash in your ebay auctions, you will get an error message preventing you from continuing with something like "Oh, those aren't trusted payment methods" or some BS. Way to block out the competition, ebay!

I signed up for a Google Checkout account. Even if you don't have a webpage/store, you can just send an email invoice to whoever is ordering from you and they can pay that way. :)

    7. I'm really curious to hear from someone who's used Google checkout as a seller. The home page and demo only talk about using it for business; they don't say anything about personal transactions. :/

here is another article about the effects of the boycott (which may be negligible:() and it also has a link to some other paypal-like sites, in case it turns out we can't use paypal anymore or something like that.

    9. Thanks Sher! that link is great!

    10. To the people how have been using Google checkout, or any other alternative to paypal, what has been their experience? Is it any better? Any pros and cons?

    11. There's a handy site called Money Exchange. <3

    12. With google checkout though it isn't like paypal. Both people -have- to have a google checkout account open while with paypal the sender doesn't have to open an account to send money. I just use paypal for convenience and a lot of sites take it, unlike other payment methods, for international customers.
