    1. someone help....im kinda sad, i post my pics and i spend a good bit of time on dialogue and making the pics look good... i think i do ok but i never get comments... i see all these other people with 3 or 4 pages of comments i dont know what im doing wrong!

    2. I love your pics!!! Sometimes it takes a few days to a week to get comments back. Some people just look and don't say anything. I know it's frustrating... I sometimes look at older pages and see things that haven't been posted on and then post a comment, cause I would be hurt if no one posted on mine, and there was nothing wrong with any of them!! I have no Idea why it happens. My other half thinks it's due to people looking for friends they have made on the forum and just posting support for their friends. Who knows? I decided I wasn't gonna let it bother me. I'm just learning to take pics and some are blurry, but I'll keep at it, You should too!! Don't let it get you down!!

    3. I'm guilty of reading and not commenting. I get satisfaction when I see 1-200+ people have viewed my thread.....I know not all of them could have hated it! ^_^ Unless you're doing a very controversial subject in your galleries or photostories, there's nothing to worry about if nobody commented.
If everyone who looked, commented, everyone would have 5+ pages of responses.
and do understand that yes, sometimes people who are particularly friendly with one another will be more likely to start up convos in threads...it's happened with me and people I know more than once. Sometimes if you look, 2-3 pages of comments is actually filled with 2-3 people talking back and forth.

And by the way, your photography is BEAUTIFUL!!! The second photo is -amazing-!!!

    4. awww i read all your photostories, but i always forget to comment, but i really enjoy them! so keep posting them

    5. you know I show love dear

    6. if anyone is like me, im a notorious lurker, i hardly ever post .. maybe because im lazy, and its cold... but i do appreciate... from now on i will try to post more... i didnt think that it would cause people to be sad... dont worry, i thnk your photos are lovely.i like the last one the best out of the last 3.

edited to say that the food on your table loooks delicious!!!! me hungry!

    7. here's 2 cents worth of feedback from someone who cares:

      1) it looks like you're getting the hang of the digital close up feature - but your dear yuki is not quite in focus. is the flower he's apparently focusing on also what we're to focus on?

      2) darjia is an absolutely beautiful boi and using the flower hue to reinforce darjia's bahamian blue irises is clever. kudos on the focus - but like with people, if you focus in on a smaller scale, you begin to notice 'flaws'. in this case, darjia's eye isn't quite flush with the lids.

      3) cute pic - seeing darjia with humans in a casual setting reinfoces the notion of realism - of darjia being transformed into something perhaps more human. but the focus forces the initial attention to the hand of the other diner.

i've noticed an improvement in your photographs over time and say you'll get even better with practice.

      enjoi ^.^

    8. See, I was just about to do the same thing again, and press "back" without commenting. I do it all the time, as many people do - sometimes I just don't have anything to say. Your photos are not bad, and I don't really read photostories so I gues I can't comment in that respect, but I hope you don't take it as a reflection upon you if people are not commenting. Sometimes photos can be good, enjoyable, I will like to look at them, but if all there is to say is "wow! Great wig!" "Nice, I like it!" or something like that which has already been said by other people, I won't comment, since I don't want to be redundant... but really, remember your dolls should be about making you happy, and not others. So if it is fun to take these photos, then that is the important thing, not whether or not others comment on your work. :)

And just as a random comment about the last of the three photos you put up - I find the opposite of what reseau says is true. When I see photos that show dolls "drinking" out of human sized mugs, or (this is a silly example) posed beside liquor bottles nearly the same size as they are, or holding an enormous (by their standards) phone... it just reinforces the fact that these are dolls, and they look kind of silly trying to interact on a human scale. But that is just my oppinion, I don't think it has to do with the quality of your photos, or anything like that. :)

    9. As a newbie, I was wondering the same thing. I found myself going back and forth between my thread and another similair thread, wondering why they had almost 3x the number of responses. The darkmothflame and patl pointed out that half of the other thread's posts were people helping the poster with picture problems. I know that I am quite guilty of not posting when I like a picture, and am doing my best to get over this silly shy thing... I wonder how many other folk are the same?

    10. The first one is good, the second one is a tad out of focus, and same with the third. But the content is good. The third one looks like a peek into everyday life, which is neat.

I know how you feel when you don't get much in the way of coments. Especially when your post gets burried into two - three pages. I just see how so many others tend to get alot of comments. But I tend to notice those that do feature fairly popular dolls, like hound, etc. etc.

But anyways, overall your picures are good, keep practicing.

    11. i see what you're saying dicebox.

however, i think for most doll collectors, the dolls represent fantasy and more than ever Le Avventure di Pinocchio is perhaps a relevant read for many DoA members. this is not the disney or spielberg version but was perhaps intended as more of a socio-political device.

    12. al punto: what was pinocchio's motive for wanting to be a real boi?

      ...therein lies Carlo Collodi's irony.

    13. >>"Are my pics THAT bad??"

Don't feel bad. It happens to a lot of us. Its sad too. People just don't post comments that much for some odd reason. :<

    14. Well the reason for the 3 or four pages of comments is that a conversation often starts in the thread! Only about 8 of the total posts are comments and if they are comments half the time their by the same people who always comment! (no really look at all of Nezumitto's photostories and if you look the actual comments die and it becomes a free for all, every time) So don't feel down, it's just people get carried away with talking!

    15. It happens to me all the time too. Everytime I try to post something I never get any comments. Usually my thread dies to the third or fourth page because of the "popular" really rare or really expensive/newer doll models. I plan on conducting a test to see if anyone posts when I show pics of Miryu. I bet everyone ten to one that Miryu gets many more posts than my boys ever have put together because she's "new"

However I've been told that the more pics that you post, the more replies you get, but I haven't found that to work out for me.

    16. pussah! They just suck. You've got some of the best pics I've seen! I especially like the one Darjia (spelling?) looks like he's trying to steel the cup of cream (and maybe throw it at the wall)

    17. thanks everyone, and yeah it kinda makes me go >.<' when i see other dolls get more posts, and its not cause i want other people to like them cause i love my bois to death, its i work hard on my photos and writing and its nice to haev some feedback sometime. i dont un derstadnd the popular thing cause i do have an LE10 doll and he basically gets ignored and he is absolutly stunning, i guess im ranting.

    18. XDD thank you! and yeah he dunked his hand in that not 5 seconds later. my mum gave him apples yesterday. i walked downstairs and mum was fussing with him it was great!

    19. Oh bejebus I can breath again! rolf, I got a kick out of that, He seemed so behaved when we took him to the mall >.>
at least I think he was?
Whatever, when I get Kano we'll have to have a dolf attackish explosion!! ... or you can just call it a meet up... at like summit or something so Ruteh-an and Mai can come tuu <3

    20. ^.^ hai hai. no he is being a brat now, he wants to be a model. or a stripper. im worried >.> yeah ill post a feeler in the doll meet ups when you get him. i juts bought a Too....

    21. I'm still $62 away from my Too ^^;;

      boy I'm pathetic!!

    22. wow thats it? save change. i have like 50 just from a few days of going through clothes and saving all my cash!

    23. I know how you feel, I think your pics are fine..sometime being a tad out of focus creates a softness.
I've posted a photostory of my elfdoll Dumplin, I got one comment...
I posted questions about a face up on DZ cause he is so white and I get one comment.
I posted some wigs for sale, I get nothing...and i will even trade for them..
I posted pics for requests people had...got nothing....
I was thinking because I am relatively new....or maybe I ma just annoying..<s>

    24. yeah i thought i was just being annoying..

    25. nope I still get nothing and I've been here for quite a while now...>_>''

    26. You post a lot of threads in a row. Try more time between posts, people will feel less overwhelmed and you will get more comments per thread.

    27. who me?? I posted mine at different times, most of the time I lurk.

    28. I was talking to the person who posted the thread :P

    29. oh. T__T im a pic whore. i take alot and im all like LOOK!!!

    30. Hun, I feel the same way. IHave tones of stories and photo shoots but I -never- get comments. No matter what I do.
The most I've gotten was like five and three were my friends and gf trying to help me get more comments because the two with dolls get more than I do.
It just makes me want to give up because people on this fourm treat people like crap.

    31. It's definantly not your pictures!
Sometimes if a photo story is too wordy, people won't read it because it takes too much effort to read! Or perhaps the story is too typical, something that often occurs in the photo stories and people are getting sick of the same ol' thing. It could also be a weak plot, if it's not something intriguing with a firm beginning (that has obviously been well thought out) then people quickly loose interest. It also helps to leave them hanging with something big, so that they are craving a solution! Ofcoarse I've never read your stories (or I have and just don't recognize your name) so honestly, I couldn't tell you what it is. Perhaps you need a more eye catching title? :)
      Good luck!

    32. The two first pics are very artistic!!!

    33. I hate not reading through all the comments, but alas, time restraints have got me around the collar. So I'll keep it short, sweet, and to the point. :P
When I posted my first images, stories or otherwise, I felt disheartened as well, that people weren't commenting much at all. But within a couple days to a week, things picked up a little. Of course, I'm not one to have more than a page of comments either, but sometimes it does just take time. :) So, I guess I'm just saying don't be disheartened, if you give people time, they'll let you know just how much they love your dolls.

    34. Awww...don't feel bad. Your pics are good! I see some people have already given you a few pointers to help improve... I am pretty new to this photography thing so I obviously can't help you in that department. ^_^;

      I'm actually relatively new in general... Well, I've been here since...February I think? I'm quite a photostory maniac so I've posted quite a bit since then. At the beginning, I got a moderately good amount of photos, especially for a newbie. I think it might have something to do with being one of the first few people posting pictures of Breakaway up? Lately though, my photostories have been pretty much ignored except by a few people. ^_^;

Don't get disheartened, certainly. Those who've been around for a long time will have probably established a fanbase so it's not so strange that they have more comments. For photostories, it's best probably not to use too many words and not to post too many photostories in a row (from my experience, people won't comment that much). Also, if you comment on other owners' photos and photostories and dolls, they're more likely to spot your name when you post and comment on yours as well.

But most of all, enjoy the photos you take! I know it's wonderful to get comments and I love getting comments too, but I really like taking photos and I really love my boy so I don't mind so much even when I get like three comments in one thread only... ^_^; Enjoy what you do and let the comments be a side-benefit. Eventually, I think, people will get to know you and you'll get your own share of comments!

Good luck and have fun! ^_^

    35. Your pics are good. The fact that you do not have a whole lof of ...stuff and focus on one aspect of the photo is quite good. I just figured out what was wrong with my computer. If I had known what was wrong with it I might have stumbled across this and said something then... Well, keep up the good work! Bye now!
