Arabian Shoe for Chicline Male by t4124, on Flickr Huge thanks go to this thread where I first saw the following method. Unfortunately, the photos aren't working currently, so I've taken some to share below.
After spreading the glue and sticking the upper to the sole, place something heavy, like a book, on top of the whole thing for several hours until it dries. You may want to put the book on it, then check for any extra glue squeezed out the sides. Gently wipe any extra glue off with a damp paper towel, and place the shoe back under your heavy object. I took a single stitch in the tip of the sole to make it point back up over the shoe.
Yay Tara! Nanuri wants his feet back though (the whiner)... Thanks so much for working up this pattern!
Thanks guys. I hope you all post some pictures if you make anything using this. Dhawk, I totally forgot to get pics of the second pair. We must arrange this!
Love it! Looks like it would be even easier for the big guys. Gonna have to give this a try maybe for a Persian inspired prince character.
Wow, that's deceptively simple for something that looks so good. Thank you for sharing, I'll be bookmarking this ....
Thanks for this, I have always been a little nervous of making shoes, but this has inspired me to have a go
OMG! Was looking everywhere for this pattern and couldnt remember where I saw it! Thank you and cant wait to make tons of these for my honore!
Perfect! Just what i was looking for! Thank you so much and your methods for holding the cloth onto the soles while you glue it are ingenious! Just something i found whilst making my doll sandals, perhaps you want to try using "Shoe Glue" or "synthetic rubber glue", because this doesnt take hours to dry, just minutes and once set its actually quite flexible, making your shoes a lot more durable especially for frequent on and off wear.
So AWESOME!!! I own a pair similar to these for myself, now I can make some for my dolls to match YAY!

Very nicely written and explained. thank you for the tutorial n the pattern. i cant wait to do it for my arabian boy. i think the shoes would look really nice too if there were lots of beads on them. either glued or sewed.
Wow, these are quite beautiful, but so simple! I'll have to try making a pair. Thank you for this tutorial!
