This is Apple, a tiny doll I've sculpted over the last day and a half. Well, her head is a few months old. She's made out of Sculpey Firm, whereas her head is a junk cast of the original damaged head. Luckily I'd made 4 junk casts simply to practice working with molds and resin (also tests at dying dark brown... failures, all marbled <XD), so even if this head craps out on me, I have 3 others as back-up XD And the original (if a little warped) rubber mold. The hardest parts are finished, now she needs arms, hands, feet and a headcap. Then repairs, adjustments, and some definition to her knees, calves and tummy. I'd really like to cast her in resin... this is the first doll I've sculpted that I've had a major attachment to. I carry her everywhere, and I find it terribly comforting to hold her. So I'd be so happy to have her in resin, for my own amusement at least. As you can see, her face needs alot of work. While I'm happy I had my junk casts, they were all flawed -- especially with the eye holes. Those are going to need alot of work. Here she is with her 'big sister' sculpt, Brii (formerly Fausia). She may never get a body sculpted, as I just can't muster the passion for large bodies that I have for sculpting heads and tiny dolls. I've tried, but every time I stop in the middle and make something itty-bitty. Oh well, I'll probably get the head all done in resin and buy a suitable body. That's just as good. But that's Apple so far. Really hoping to have the rest of her limbs done by tomorrow night. And maybe start finishing her this week, prepping her for mold making... hopefully next week? Luckily she's tiny, that makes things a bit easier on my wallet <XD
she is adorable. And i love her face and how well she poses (ps - the colorcoded paperclips are brilliant....)
She's adoreble I love love love her! If you ever decide to sell casts of her I would love to own one! She looks like a tiny black big mama to me XD that doesnt sounds logic at all o.o
I really like her legs and backside (IOW, cute butt!) Her tummy is rounded and pretty. Very nice. but the face....are you going to give the upper lip a little more shape? It almost touches her nose. But that may just be the camera angle..
Thanks for the nice comments ^_^ Hasel: Aw, thanks! Selling casts sounds like fun... but alot of work. I don't know if I have that kinds of patience/attention span CathyM: Yeah, you're right, her upperlip is quite round and practically touches her nose... but this is an inherited trait/flaw from the way I sometimes draw girls ( like so ). Update: Well, I was going to put off making junk casts till I had the clay version a bit more polished... but her torso pieces both broke after a clumsy fall from the table. So, I grabbed some mold putty and made some hasty molds of her after gluing her back together and patching her with Apoxie sculpt, and cast a junk resin copy to fix-up. Here's where she's at now, after alot of sawing, carving, Apoxie sculpt, sanding and primer. The lower torso piece is the one I've worked the most on so far, so it looks considerably better than the chest piece XD (you can see the cracks and bumps on her chest where she was glued back together and patched with putty before being molded/cast. Those flaws have been most sanded and smoothed out of the lower torso) I've put off arms, hands, feet and the headcap for now because I generally find those to be really easy for me. I'm focusing on the difficult stuff first that usually makes me give up.
CUte little chubby one I like how she resembles your drawing style. The big head works well with her tiny body and she seems to be full of life. Her knee joints look well made and very posable.
