Anyone knows if there are proxy services that allow doll layaways?

Aug 2, 2023

    1. Are there any other proxy services that offer layaway besides Japan Doll Direct? I heard they offer layaway, but I want to know if there are others.

    2. Hello,

If you looking into other Japan proxies such as Zenmarket, From Japan, Neokyo etc...then full pay is always required. Is the doll in question only available in Japan? If not, you can try a dealer!

    3. It's a doll from dolk japan. I think I read a long time ago they have layaways, but i don't know how it works when you use a proxy service.

    4. Ohhh...I see. If you use Dolkus (English speaking Dolk) then they do layaways. Dolk Japan possibly does layaways as well, but you would need to be a resident of Japan for them to accept your orders directly as it would require communication with Dolk Japan to arrange a layaway. If you use a proxy, the proxy would require full payment before they buy. Also...my proxy won't accept the order if the doll is shipped from outside of Japan (some dolls from Dolk are shipped from their country of origin, usually Korea or China), so there is a possibility that you might need to look at several proxies to see who would accept the order.

Unless it's a Dolk exclusive, I would still suggest either going through the company itself or a dealer like Alice's collections that would accept layaways. Dolk Japan tend to overprice all their dolls (or anything n their store for that matter...).

    5. Thanks this is very helpful. I didn't know the proxy would not ship a doll if outside of japan. I haven't had this problem with non-doll related items except for like electronics or something like that. I will have to look into Alice collection. I've heard of them, but never actually researched it.

    6. While these aren't exactly proxies, Alice Collections and Legend Doll can order dolls from China and Korea no problem and offer layaway. A lot of companies also do layaway, with the exception of Volks. Volks requires payment in full.

    7. Sadly, Alice Collections won't take an order from Volks Japan.

    8. BJDivas can potentially help you. They have a special layaway service where they'll serve as a proxy for certain transactions. The details are here: click this link for their facebook

    9. I'm not sure if they can for Dolk Japan because they told me before they can't always get the Volks doll if exclusive to Japan, but I could be remembering wrong. I love their services, but there were some dolls they couldn't get for me from what I recall. I rather go with a service that can guarantee they get the doll. I really this time don't want to miss out on the Rozen Maiden doll. The reason why I got interested in bjds is because i came across an old Volks Rozen Maiden and loved it, but it was too old the doll which made it harder to get. This was before I really knew much about bjds.

I'm testing out Japan Doll Direct, but I'm not sure if I will actually go with this doll service. I heard it is an expensive proxy service and do offer I think a short layaway. I just want to broaden my choices, but i haven't been satisfied with the 2 or 3 Japanese proxy services I've been using.

I wish the proxy services allowed layaways.

Edit: I can't find the link of legend doll on Den of angel distributer and dealers when i click legend doll. Does anyone have a direct link? I am going to Google it, but I want to make sure the link I find is the right one.

BJD-Legenddoll, BJD Doll, Ball jointed doll, BJD accessories, BJD clothing, BJD shoes, BJD wig, Doll accessories

      Is this the correct link?

    10. In order for them to allow for layaways either the manufacturer has to allow for it or the proxy has to front the cost. That’s why layaways are limited.

    11. Sorry, I'm confused by this post. Are you talking about bjdivas? I can't always follow a conversation.

    12. That is the link for Legend Doll, but like Alice's Collection, they are a dealer rather than a proxy. And while they might take special requests, they mostly deal with dolls from China, so I don't think they'll be able to help you get a doll from Japan or Volks or Dolk JP.

    13. I contacted legend doll already. They said they can't do it. I expected that, but I didn't think it would hurt to ask.

    14. Aw, darn. That's a shame about Divas. :(

The only other thing that I can think of is if you can pay via Paypal to Dolk Japan or a proxy and do a Paypal Pay in 4 plan, but I don't know if that would be a long enough layaway for you.

If I can think of anything else, I'll check back in!

    15. Since Volks themselves does not do layaway payments, I don't think you will find a proxy who will also do a layaway. I think the above post about using the Paypal plan might be your best bet. Ayumist buys Volks products on commission but I am not certain if they do layaway payments. I've always paid in full but to be fair I have been buying other Volks items, not dolls. You would have to ask them.

    16. Who is ayumist? Is that Japan Doll Direct? Thanks everyone for all the suggestions.

    17. No, they are someone else. I sent you a message.

    18. Ayumist does layaway payments! ...at least that's what I remember. It was a very short layaway in any case. :)
