Aug 1, 2008

    1. I made this a few days ago:

I screwed up some, but I kinda like it. Next time I think I have to make the armholes a bit bigger; the second set of sleeves made it bulkier than I thought it'd be.

    2. I'll try in the near future :D

    3. Cool Beans tutorial! x3

    4. It's Cool!:D Thanks !

    5. I find your tutorial so great ! It's really cool to make casual clothes !

      thanks a lot !!

    6. Here's my take on the tutorial. Instead of sleeves, I just made a tiny (tiny D8 ) little hem along the arm holes. I also made a wide turtleneck type of collar :D Not all of my stitches are invisible, as I'm not so good at sewing, but I would say this turned out pretty successfully 8D <3 Thank you Ragdoll, I love your tutorial :D

    7. Thanksnso much for this! I'm going to try this and the jeans right away!

    8. This is cool I'm going to have to try this when I get my first doll, I'll really save on buying clothes.

    9. Another really great tutorial. Keep them coming. You have such great ideas. Thanks

    10. I just finished the top for Sun Wukong ^^ the pants are also made from your other tutorial. I love you ^^ thank you so much!

    12. awesome i will made one and post pics when im done thank you for posting this you kick butt

    13. Here is my first go at making one! I really like how it turned out.

    14. Thank you SO much for this tutorial! I love making clothes for dolls but I'm such a newb. I usually just try and fit and see what happens lol. This tutorial actually gave me a step-by-step view on things. Awesome. Gonna try making a shirt soon :D. The image galleries are great for inspiration, too!!

    15. I'm halfway through this tutorial so far! Had to take a break because my sewing machines old and frustrating lol But so far so good! I cant wait to get it finished!

    16. Oh man. I can't figure out the sleeve bit.
      A little help anyone?

      ^^^^ Nevermind! I got it!! ^^^

    17. great tutorial! :D definitely going to have to try this out for my girls... :)

    18. Bless your face, you wonderful, amazing creature.
My sewing machine and I are pretty much always trying to kill each other--but still, I have to try this.
      O.O
      :aheartbea:aheartbea:aheartbea

    19. Thank you so much for this tutorial! I finally managed to make something decent that fits <3

Now to make some more for my other dolls :D

    20. thanks a lot for the easy to follow instructions!! this was really useful!

    21. brilliant tutorial - so simple and easy to follow :D and it's so versatile too, i've made 2 tops from this tutorial already and they are completely different

i will admit that i didn't understand how the collar was supposed to work at first, but once i took the plunge and tried it myself it was really simple :) but if you have a shallow-necked top and you don't want a collar it is easy to just hem the neck (with a teeny tiny hem, lol)

    22. I totally love this tutorial .. I will be trying it when my girls arrive :D

    23. Yes, thank you very much! This is very helpful.

    24. I know I've shown it in a few other threads but I'm just so happy with my little MSD shirt that I made using this tutorial! I think it turned out amazing! Thank you so much, easy to follow and here's my handsewn and upcycled (this is my old shirt!) take on it! Thanks! :D

    25. The second my body gets in, I am TRYING THIS! I'm so excited! The idea of trying to scale a pattern was putting me off, but WOW! Thank you!

    26. What a Brilliant Tutorial!! Thanks so much for this. I got my first doll on Saturday at the Rosadoll convention. I only went as the group photographer and never expected I would enjoy the whole thing so much. I came home with a Bambicrony Tan LE Lotti who came with hair and eyes but no clothes. So I'm sewing like mad now to get it all ready for a photoshoot on saturday. This has been so helpful.

    27. Great tutorial! Thanks!!

    28. Thanks for the tutorial! It's great =)
I will necessarily sew a shirt for my girl!

    29. I can't sew...

But now I can. <3 Thank you for the tutorial! \o/

    30. love your tutorial and can't wait to try it on my own... my little girl wants some new clothes so bad but until now i didn't know how to sew some for her... but now i'll try it... thak you so much!!!

    31. I figured out how to alter this pattern to make those baby shirts that have the over laping shoulders! ^_^ when I make one that took me alittle longer (and therefor looks better) I'll take a pic if anyone wants to see ^_^

    32. Made the first ever t-shirt by following this tutorial. And it came out a bit on the wide side. XD

But for a casual shirt, not too bad. I just wish my crop jacket would fit over it. XD

    33. WOW so many variations. Thank you for the beginners tutorial, it's so hard to think tiny sometimes, you really explained the details simply!

    34. THANKS!!! This helped a lot. I sew by hand.
But I never could get the neck and arm holes to get that finished off look!!!

    35. *bows on knees to you* Thank you for making this! I have been trying to make shirts and pants for the longest time for my two boys but couldn't. But I was able with this! And the pictures helped me A LOT! So thank you again!!!!!

    36. Sophie and I want to thank you for this detailed tutorial!
I haven't actually made a shirt yet, but this dress!
I definitely will be making quite a few casual tops using your technique, it's so simple and easy to make lots of variations!

      Thanks again! :aheartbea

    37. Om nom nom nom...
Machine eating your fabric? Here are some tips from someone who works for a Babylock dealership:

Stabilizer. Acquire some tear-away stabilizer. It is sold as a product for Embroidery machine users, but is very helpful. It is designed to be sewn through and then torn away easily. Some good ones are:
      Sulky's "totally stable"
      Floriani's "Medium Tear-away" or "Stitch n Wash"

Also, if you're not making a T-shirt, you can fuse interfacing (or stabilizer) to the back of the fabric you're working with which will stiffen the fabric and provide body while preventing the machine from gobbling up the fabric.

      :D

Love the tutorial, btw. Very nice draping technique.

    38. I love this tutorial. I used it to make a shirt for my doll about a month ago.
It's my first time sewing something and succeeding (I sew by hand, the manual that came with my sewing machine is too small and unclear for me).
I made this from a pair of pajama pants that I wore until there were holes in them... Best part is on the back, the words 'dark side" ended up on the back of the shirt. XD

    39. [IMG] used this tutorial <3 THANKS :>

    40. Great tutorial I'm excited to try it when I get a doll finally.

I was wondering what kind of doll is the one with the Black/Red wig with the Purple hooded sweater?

    41. I recently tried this, but my first shirt didn't turn out to great, well it did, but my dolls hands wouldn't fit through the sleeves. -_-

So I made another one, and the collar didn't turn out to great. I looked at your little diagram, but I'm still a little confused on how to exactly create the smooth point at the bottom of the v-neck.

    42. Sewing is not a easy work, however, if you put your heart into it, you'll make it~~

    43. My first try using this tutorial I couldn't get the shirt on my doll because her shoulders were too big... or something. I wanted so badly to get the shirt on her after HOURS of hard work that I ripped the heck out of the seams on the sides to get it on her. :) Oh well. I will try again tomorrow! I think maybe I need to use a stretchier fabric. Because once I got it on her it fit just fine! LOL

First try! by megdalena on flickr

What really sucks is I am just going to cut it off of her. I don't want to risk damaging her shoulders any more than I already have. She was squeezed in there pretty tight.

Thank you so much for posting this tutorial! XD

    44. So..... it's been a longer than I expected to give this another shot! But I made another shirt for Float and it fits! YAAAAAAAY! Thank you SO MUCH ragdoll! This tutorial is AWESOME!

float on... by megdalena on flickr

My girl in her new shirt! :D Thanks again ragdoll!

    45. This gives me ideas...many, many ideas. Now to figure out the specifics of a cowl neck *goes to flip one of her own shirts inside out*

    46. Maybe someone already made these suggestions, but I use plain white tissue paper to keep my sewing machine from eating fabric and athletic tape(no idea what its actually called, you find it in the 1st aid section of most drugstores, it has kind of a papery texture) to hold squirmy hems in place while I sew (particularly useful if you cut jersey fabric on the bias) it helps keep the machine from eating the fabric, give me the exact hem/seam I want (no wandering seams with this trick) and peals right off. Its saved me hours of frustration!

    47. [IMG]

      Sorry for the crappy pic...

Made the jeans off of the matching pant tutorial, and just made that top.
I love it, even though I messed up on it somewhere, cuz the hems at the bottom are off by like an inch.... but that really only shows in the back... so whatever.

Not bad since my siczors stopped working half way through Dx

    48. Yay for handsewing patience! I'm not pleased with how the arms' angle came out, but i'll fix it if need be XD But I wanted to make my boy a comfy lounge shirt for when he gets here, so thank you for this tutorial! ^w^
      [IMG]

    49. after being in a sewing slump for the past like 1 1/2, I've finally started sewing again :)

It's not the best shirt, but it's the first one that actually fit him proper so now I've just got to refine the pattern ^___^

    50. Just tried it last night! Had collar issues... if you could expand to doing a tutorial on different collars that would be awesome! It was kind of hard to do a round collar based on your V neck one >_<

Gonna try to make pants tomorrow with your jeans tutorial! :D

    51. [IMG]
      Thank you!!

    52. Cool tutorial!! btw i love her jeans pants!!

    53. I sewed my t shirt with some adjustments. I made the sleeves all in one with the shirt. Sewed the shoulders together, then pinned it onto the doll and tacked it in place, and removed pins. I then took it off and sewed the side seams by machine finished off the neck and hems.

    54. Forgot to mention that the green material I used is very stretchy, so I managed to get it on and off over her head without having to make an opening in the back. Thanks for this tute.

    55. Thanks for tutorial I totally made a shirt. It looks so cute on my sis's resinsoul , but its a bit tight so it ripped a bit:(.

    56. Here's my little wolf girl, Alcidia, in a cotton sun dress I made from this pattern. It was so easy! THANKS! :D

    57. wow these looks really amazing~thanks for the tutorial :D

    58. Thank you! It loos amazing!

    59. Amazing tutorial! =D

    60. Finally! I've been looking for a good shirt tutorial for forever, I'm glad I came across this. You did an amazing job!
