Any living in Japan?

Mar 24, 2017

    1. I'm hoping to move to Japan in the next year or two for work. I used to live there in High School, but came back to the United States for college (I found this to be a huge mistake, I desperately miss Japan).

I'm hoping the company I want to work for will place me in Hokkaido (in Sapporo)~ I'm wondering if anyone already lives in Japan that are also BJD fans? Even if you don't live close to Hokkaido it's super easy to meet up, the country is so small :3

Even if you don't live in Japan I'd love to chat about it! Like I mentioned I miss Japan terribly, and all of my IRL friends have already moved there, and I'm feeling left out :(

    3. Ooo awesome!! Make sure to visit their website, if you want to get a doll while your there you can sign up for their workshop. It's basically putting together your own Smart Doll and you get like a $100 discount! I'm definetly signing up when I get there :3

    4. Yep! I heard about it, it was what made me really want to visit when i go! :)

    12. Oo awesome! Osaka is really cool, and I'm sure where ever else you go will be amazing~

@Lorelei-Rei Yeah like any language you have to keep using it~ It's just so different from any European language I understand it's difficult

@konzenkoryuu I'm glad your enjoying it! Are you planning to stay?

    13. Kinda. But I don`t have anything definite past July 2018 yet

    14. I live here! But in Tokyo ;;

    15. Hello! there are a couple of us in Tokyo! How do you like it? Any favorite doll shops?

    16. ハイサイ!
I've been living in Okinawa for the past two and a half years and will be moving to Nagoya this August.
I'm currently working on a project where I study regional fabrics/patterns and make doll-sized kimono for every prefecture in Japan. I also really love visiting doll museums across the country, so if you've got any questions/want recommendations I'd be happy to send you a list :3nodding:

    17. That project of doll-sized kimono sounds beautiful *______*

    18. Thank you! I'm just scrambling to get this doll together so I can get the beach photoshoot done before I move out of Okinawa. Her bingata kimono, hanagasa (flower shaped headpiece) and yotsudake (bamboo clappers) are ready...I'm just waiting on her damn eyes!!

(picture for reference because Okinawa never gets represented in the hobby)

      Some other looks will be:

Indigo dyed kimono for Okayama (famous for jeans and dyeing)
Woven straw snow boots and overcoat from the mountains of Gifu
Going to a workshop and dyeing my own kaga-yuzen fabric in Ishikawa
Learning about and making traditional Ainu clothing from Hokkaido
Ehime is really famous for towel manufacturing and Doggo onsen, so you can guess where I'm going with this one...
