Hi All! My group (about 8-10 of us per meet) is resuming quarterly meetings. There are a variety of collectors - BJD, 12" and 16" fashion dolls, porcelain, Barbie. It's a pretty casual, all-inclusive group. If you have any interest, please feel free to reach out!
Hi there! I'm also in Connecticut and would love to attend a meet up! I've actually been looking for one for a while, but obviously things were very slow for a while for good reason.
Hi~! Very late, but I've been searching for such a group for a while too. I hope these are still happening, and look forward to meeting up!
So sorry everyone, completely forgot about this thread and wasn't watching it (I'm not actively collecting). The group is now mostly fashion doll collectors. Does anyone collect those as well? If not, it sounds like there might be enough people in CT to arrange a BJD only meeting if someone wants to organize?
There's a Discord group that's pretty dead activity wise but has a bunch of local people who used to do CT BJD meets fairly regularly before life (and covid) got in the way. I know a bunch of people are now in Massachusetts which is part of why there haven't been meets lately, but I've been wanting to revive the group for a while and I need to ask if it's just OK to post the Discord link publicly now because I know there are a lot of people interested in having more meets in CT now, judging by this thread at least.
I'll take the discord link either by DM or directly. I'm hosting the next doll group meetup, am about 20 minutes west of Hartford. If that sounds good to anyone reading this, we're having a doll crafting day sometime in January (still figuring out the date). Not making dolls, just whatever your project is, come and work on it together. Think sewing circle, but with doll stuff.
^ that sounds like a lot of fun, I'd certainly be interested! I live about 15 minutes out from Hartford
Argh I forgot to check about the link, I'm sorry I never got to it!! D: I am definitely interested in the idea of this meetup! Also I had not realized you were in CT, I've bought several of your patterns which are probably along the lines of things I'd work on at such a meet ^^' I'm still very much in the beginner stages tho ngl but the patterns and instructions are really helpful!! I don't think that sharing the Discord would be a problem I just sent a thing in there to double check but I doubt it's a problem since I don't think it's a really private group so I can defs get back to you on that. I hadn't realized there was another local active group, as most of the people from the "old crowd" I used to go to meets with seem to have left CT or be otherwise busy, I would LOVE to start attending meets again!! EDIT: Here's the link to the Discord for anyone who wants it! It expires in 7 days, I unfortunately don't know how to make it permanent but if you can't use it or need a new one lmk!! Join the CT BJD Group Discord Server!
Hello! My partner and I live near the shore, but we are very interested in rejoining meetups again! I'm not sure if my partner is interested in a craft-orientated meetup, since nothing is currently being worked on, but I have a few things I could use motivation on to continue. I hand-sew since I never learned how to use a sewing machine, so it takes me longer to make outfits and whatnot. I don't have any fashion dolls, just BJDs and Hatsune Miku, my one Dollfie Dream. I would appriciate it if someone could DM me a new link to the Discord, thanks! Ryu
Oh well, it looks like I missed the January 25th meetup. It was my birthday, so.... Any other meetup plans happening? Oh, are any of you going to the NYC Doll Convention in March? My partner and I will be there! In case you need the link: https://www.nycdollconvention.com/ Ryu
Now that its February, is there any other meetups going on? NGL, I'm debating on hosting an IKEA meetup in either April or May. What do you all think? Ryu
I know I mentioned it on the Discord as well but I would love to attend another IKEA meet! Haven't had a chance to hang out with local folks in a while and I would love for there to be more regular meets within casual travel distance for me. Also, NYC BJD Con is coming up, I'm excited! Hope to see more CT folks there!
Welp, I guess that's that, so lets make it official! IKEA BJD meetup IKEA cafeteria May 24th, 2025 3PM IKEA 450 Sargent Drive New Haven, CT 06511 Bring BJDs and yourselves, and also plan on buying food so that we have a "reason" to be there! I wouldn't recommend selling things there in-store, but what you do in the parking lot, I have no real say over. I can't wait to see everyone! Oh, how many of you will be going to the NYC Doll convention? Eiri and I, and of course a couple of dolls, will be there on Sunday. Its the only day that was left by the time we heard about it happening. I'm looking forwards to the raffle. My Crew could always use new things! I can't wait to see everyone! Ryu
Hi! We met at nyc doll con and you mentioned the meet. ikea is not too far for me and i Had no idea there were ever meets there so i’d love to be able to go!
Honestly, I've only hosted one other IKEA meetup there, and it was pre-COVID. The then-manager thought that we were selling stuff, which we weren't, we were just meeting there with dolls. I've seen other groups meeting there before, so I thought "why not?" I have yet to go check out the actual cafeteria lately, for "reasons," but I will soon. AFAIK, people and groups are still meeting there or various and different things. Of course, if there are any changes to IKEA, I will let everyone know. Ryu
Hello! In case anyone still reads this thread, YES, the IKEA Meetup will still be going on on Saturday, May 24th, 2025 st 3pm! I plan on going to IKEA this week to take a look at the cafeteria. But, it wouldn't surprise me to see that everything is still pretty cool there for us to meet. Ryu
NOICE! FWIW, the cafeteria looks like they added a few benches as well as the tables and chairs. I plan on trying to get a few tables a bit away from the windows due to the chilliness of the weather, so wish me luck! Don't forget to buy something to eat from there, so we have a legit reason to be there. We usually ask people that are eating to sit a little bit away from the dolls so things don't get messy should there be any kind of spills. Don't worry, there will always be someone near them in case of any falls. And any sales are probably safer if done in the parking lot, away from IKEA workers. Can't wait to see everyone (and your dolls) tomorrow! Ryu
Hello everyone! Life things have calmed down for me, so once again I'd love to host another IKEA meetup. This time, we're having a theme. Being so close to Halloween, if you have BJDs that wear cosplays or costumes, they are more than welcome! IKEA BJD meetup IKEA cafeteria October 25th, 2025 3PM IKEA 450 Sargent Drive New Haven, CT 06511 Remember, you should bring money to buy stuff to eat and/or drink so that we have a "legit" reason to be there! I'll also post this on Discord, so that others who may no longer be active on DOA find out about it. Hope to see you there! Ryu
I'm hoping to make it, I'll be bringing my more updated (but still unfinished) Shigaraki doll hehe Maybe an off topic vinyl doll as well since it's been a while since I've taken them out. Unfortunately my Dabi will still be in pieces most likely unless I get a huge rush of creative fervor in October. Other than that, I might see if I can put Laika into a Halloween outfit...
Hello! Now that the holidays are over, lets have another IKEA BJD meetup! It'll be on Saturday, February 21st, 2026, at 3PM, and the theme is, Valentine's Day. IKEA BJD meetup IKEA cafeteria February 21st, 2026 3PM IKEA 450 Sargent Drive New Haven, CT 06511 Bring BJDs and yourselves, and also plan on buying food so that we have a "reason" to be there! I wouldn't recommend selling things there in-store, but what you do in the parking lot, I have no real say over. Also, how many of you will be going to the NYC Doll convention, April, 2026? This year, Eiri and I, and of course a couple of dolls, will be there, hopefully on both days. I'll also post this on Discord, so that others who may no longer be active on DOA find out about it. Hope to see you there! Ryu
Has everything been OK with regards to buying food and the doll meet being OK there? I was a little concerned when I saw it mentioned in a previous meet last year, but if everything's been OK then that's good. I've got a long drive.
Well, we had a meetup there in October 2025 with no problems. The only trouble we had was pre-COVID, maybe around seven or so years ago. The manager at the time thought we were selling stuff, so IIRC, that was the only problems we had. Thus the "don't sell stuff in the store" comment posted above. In October, all of us bought food and walked around, so they didn't seem to mind. The staff was actually pretty nice to us too. Ryu
