After years of planning and distraction, I finally made a complete natural form outfit for my Victorian girl. I took commemorative photos. (Continued below)
How gorgeous! I really enjoyed all the layer shots, people do that so rarely, and it so fascinating. I love that for once it's not something aristocrats would wear, but more of a everyday dress style. Well done!!!!
Thanks! I hope to one day have more natural form outfits for her. I've done minimal layers versions of Victorian clothes before, and I wanted to try something different. I also prefer natural form when it's paired down rather than covered in ruffles.
I appreciate the good words. I used period patterns where ever possible, and fell down many many research rabbit holes while making these clothes. Thanks. I'm pleased with how far I've come, sewing and knitting wise.
Thank you both. It's nice seeing what I can do now, compared to outfits I made her back in my college days.
Historical fashion is a topic I don't have much awareness of. After being so used to seeing images of people fully dressed in the outfit, I really enjoyed seeing the dressup progression here and learning a bit about how the full outfit is put together. Thanks for sharing - Anthea looks wonderful in the dress, well done with sewing it! Do you plan to make similar outfits for your other dolls?
Sort of. My BIDs have 1890s and 1920s wardrobes. I recently finished a full 1760s outfit for one of my MSD girls. If I consider making a natural form ensemble for my other dolls, it'll be after I'm done with Anthea's other planned outfits. Thanks for the kind words.
That layering is amazing and her silhouette turned out so gorgeous! It looks so rewarding to put it all together.
It was I know a lot of people are concerned about unwanted bulk. I'm glad it all worked out with this outfit.
New This is gorgeous and so inspiring! There's something so satisfying about crafting each and every layer and knowing all those details are there even though you can't see them all once your doll is fully dressed.
New Thanks! I'm glad I made Anthea a full outfit from the skin out. I'm also happy I decided to do this in intervals, rather than a single burst. his project demands patience.
