Animethon Doll Panel 2016 Edmonton Alberta

Jun 12, 2016

    1. Will anyone be hosting doll related panels at animethon this August or will people be meeting up? I don't think I've seen doll related stuff there and I was curious

    2. Yup. Katasha and me do a panel every year. :)

    3. That's great do we need dolls to participate or is everyone welcome?

    4. Of course everyone is welcome! The panel is typically an intro to BJDs/info panel. We usually do a doll meet afterwards too.

    5. Cool it sounds like fun if I end up going to the convention I may have to check out the panel

    6. I was wondering if there are usually bjd items for sale at animethon? I don't think I'd get an actual doll there that seems suspicious but does anyone sell items I've never really looked before

    7. There used to be a Ringdoll dealer who would put their dolls up at the marketplace there, but that was a couple of years back. Also a few years back in artist's alley there was a vendor that was selling handmade BJD clothes (I don't recall seeing them there again last year though). You could probably check out the Edmonton Meet-Up thread as there also tends to be a meeting during Animethon, and some members would bring something to sell (last year I sold a doll during then).

    8. Oh cool thanks for the help

    9. Ok so I was wondering some things I should know before I show up to the panels and or meet up

Should I bring money I heard percent sometimes sell used dolls/clothes also how much should I bring

What are some not so common sense rules that I should know

Is it ok for me not to have a doll yet and show up? Or is this more for people with dolls? I know "everyone is welcome" but how many people without dolls actually come

I probably have more but I can't remember right now

    10. If the meet does say everyone is welcome, then you're welcome without having any dolls yet :3nodding: I'm sure people there would love another person to take photos and talk to about what they like/dislike about certain companies and so on. And this will be a great learning experience for you about which size doll you may prefer, maybe you'll see some dolls you've looked at online in person!
The last meet I went to actually had a LOT of non-cash transactions. I got lucky with cash for the small things I sold, but majority used PayPal on their phones/tablets to pay for goods! And since most transactions on the secondhand market are done through PayPal, it's safe to assume people will accept PayPal payment if you don't have enough cash on hand.

    11. Ok thanks for the help I have just never been to one of these things so I'm not sure what actually happens (I've been to conventions but not necessarily a social thing that happens at a convention)
