Anime Midwest Panel and Meet-up - July 4-6, Rosemount IL.

Jun 2, 2014

    1. Hi all! Just wondering who I will see at Anime Midwest this year? I'll be running a panel/ meet-up on Friday 4:30-5:30 in Panel Room 7. I'll also have dolls and accessories available for purchase after hours. My table will most likely be outside of the rave, since I'm also the glowstick vendor.

    2. I have yet to decide how many dolls I'll be bringing with me, however I do want to brink my Volks 4 Sisters girl and dress us in matching BTSSB outfits. Been struggling to track down enough matching items to do so though. :/

    3. I think I'll try to go! Im not getting a badge though, I would just go to run around. ^.^

    4. I wouldn't try ghosting if I were you. There are going to be tons of security kicking ghosters out and banning them from ever attending legally.

    5. O.O Ohh... I wouldn't go into panels or anything. Your not allowed to just go and walk around? Yikes!

    6. You can't be anywhere in convention space without a badge. A lot of conventions have this rule. It's a safety precaution, and a good business decision. Without going into too much detail, the main reasons are one, less badge sales mean less money to put toward paying the hotel and guests, etc. If everyone who just goes to see friends decided to not pay, chances are that the con would have to cut way back in order to pay the bills, which would make it less fun for everyone. The second big reason is that it is much safer to have the information of every person at your event on file in case something bad happened.

    7. If money is an issue, you can sign up to staff. Work 16-18 hours over the course of the weekend and you get a free badge. Otherwise, animecon.org does host occasional free cosplay meet-ups in each of the towns we run cons in.

    8. O. O I see. I understand why that helps, I won't try going then. Thanks for the warning! Sadly I can usually only go for a couple hours on one day, so I wouldn't be able to earn a free badge. T.T

I personally just don't like purchasing a badge if I don't need it to get into the rooms, otherwise it just seems a waste if I just walk the hallways the whole time. >.< When i say run around I also just mean the hallways, isn't that technically still hotel space? What about people who are just staying at the hotels?

    9. Anime Midwest has rented out the entire hotel this year, so hallways and lobby still count as con space. You might be able to get away with hanging out at one of the other nearby hotels, just not the Hyatt itself.
