Ordering Angell Studio - Cannot contact

May 14, 2020

    1. I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas on how to get in touch with Angell Studio. I'm wanting to place an order but I need to do a body swap because the doll I want doesn't come with the heeled legs by default. I've tried both facebook pages more than once, I've tried their English e-mail three times, I've tried their Japanese e-mail, and I've tried to contact them through the US dealer Fabric Friends Dolls and NO ONE can get a response from them. They're still posting news updates so the company is still functioning. I've been trying over the past two months which I think is beyond excessive to get a response back when I've kept prompting for replies. Yes, I know the virus has slowed down production and replies but it's been two months of regular contact without a response. At this point I don't think my content is getting lost, just perhaps they've entirely lost an English-speaking CS rep? But in all fairness, I speak Japanese enough to send an e-mail in Japanese too and STILL not get a response when I contacted them so I have no idea what's going on.

Edit: I also forgot I even used their internal messaging system on their website and didn't get a reply there either.

Small update. So I contacted them again from a completely different e-mail address in Japanese. I told them in that e-mail that Japanese was not native language and so I apologize if I am hard to understand. Wrong move apparently. They replied ignoring all of my order questions and only said (in Japanese no less, which I find hilarious because I clearly speak enough to contact you coherently and you response back in Japanese to tell me : )"Please contact our English division at the English e-mail." Guys, I spent the entire e-mail telling you I've tried that and not gotten a reply and thus have resorted to e-mailing you in your language because you refuse to reply elsewhere and your response is to still avoid my questions entirely and tell me to use an e-mail address that is likely not even monitored.
At this point I'm pretty sure I want nothing to do with this company. I'm posting this for posterity's sake because this is not how any company should be behaving.

Final edit: I've found the trick to contacting them is either A) Know Japanese and communicate with their Japanese contact who IS responsive once they understand your point. Or B) Contact them through Taobao.
      My record so far:
English E-mail-- no reply after 2 months of attempts
Japanese contact-- reply after two days (BUT you have to communicate in Japanese, if you communicate in English you will be ignored..or likely forwarded to the English contact who then won't reply to you)
Taobao/chinese contact-- reply after 1 hour
      Facebook (both pages)-- no reply
Via dealer FFD-- no reply from company
      Twitter-- no reply

    2. Disappointing to hear. Maybe they aren't able to access english staff at the moment because of the pandemic situation, but I don't see why AS can't be more transparent about it if that is the case. In the past I have contacted them via email in English and they responded after a while, but they have never been one to communicate very openly about what is going on with them I suppose, since my email was the only way I found out they had to stop selling body parts because of factory construction (which they said would be resolved by June...of 2019. ... still not selling body parts on their website...).

If I may ask, how did you contact them via Taobao? Did you use a service agent or did you message them on your own account, and if so, did you machine translate to chinese?

    3. I know, I've been excited to order from them for a while. I've going through TaoBao in the past but I wanted to support them directly on this order. But after this nonsense it's much harder to do.

When contacting on TaoBao I first tried using my own account but TaoBao has been blocking me access from the website recently. This happens sometimes I believe to foreign IPs with their website but it wasn't going away so I ended up contacting them through the agent I typically use. When I've contacted via TaoBao before I use a machine translation but it's rough. I really wouldn't suggest a non-Chinese speaker to use a machine translation. Chinese is just entirely too nuanced in that respect and it can be hard to make your point :( But if they won't reply via other avenues it's the only option. I will say their Japanese rep was very patient with my broken Japanese and did seem to get my point in the end which was nice and the information did coincide with what the TaoBao agent had relayed to me.
Note: I only suggest using a TaoBao agent for communication if you plan to use them as service. I personally think it's rude to waste their time and translation skills as a mediator if you don't intend to pay them in any respect. So really, just a last ditch effort if all else fails in terms of contact.

    4. I might be able to help you with this... I wanted to buy their Mulan doll but with heel legs (the default is the 62 body with flat feet and regular chest), they said no. I asked if I can buy the doll and buy extra heel legs or heel feet and I still got a no, they only sold Mulan as is, and they are not producing optional parts like hands / legs / feet so that is why its not on the english website, something to do with a factory but.. Im not sure I understood properly. Im thinking they have discontinued the molds and have moved on to newer sculpts to manufacture, so I passed on buying her.

I did however get contact within 24 hours on this email ( [email protected] ), with their new representative.
First communication 25/4, and they were fluent in english and were really helpful in helping me order their doll, I was very pleased with them.

I had problems placing an order with a Korean seamstress, so I use a translation service, not an app, but a person you pay to have someone translate your messages and then you pass it on. I called the local korean embassy and they were happy to help without charge lol, but I think you would be able to find someone on reddit or if you post in the proxy section?

You could also order through Legend Doll, thats what I did when I had trouble ordering their mermaids and it gave me a really huge shipping quote. I couldnt get a hold of them, so I went with Erica. They officially didnt offer suntan skin, but I was able to order the mermaid with suntan skin through legend doll, and it was a smooth process. **they however, didnt allow Erica to order Mulan with heel feet, legs or the body with the heeled legs.

    5. Unfortunately that is the e-mail I've been trying to contact for the past two months and as recently as two weeks ago and still haven't gotten a reply. At this point I've ordered through a proxy instead who actually replies to things so I have no intention of attempting to order through AS directly ever again. I've accepted just using flat feet, it's not that hard to hybrid a pair of heel feet to this body anyway so I"m not too concerned on that front anymore.
I had never worked with Legend Doll and didn't even see they had Mulan listed on their website which is why I passed them over. I'll consider them in the future though! Thank you!

    6. Wow, I cant believe we were both talking about the same doll! Mulan with the heel legs, it really should have been an option, to at least add heel feet to the listing.

I wish you good luck with the purchase! I know that Angell Studio dolls are amazing, and I know you will be happy with them. I wish they would improve their english communication side, it would bring a lot more business to them since not a lot of people know that Legend Doll is a dealer for them, and there is another dealer, but their feedback isnt nice.

Just for the future, if you see something on the official website that isnt listed on the dealer like ACBJD or Legend Doll, you could always ask them about it and they would make a listing. I also know some dealers have special privileges like having a certain number of limited dolls available to order even when the official site has it as sold out (I know ACBJD, Legend Doll get an alloted number of fullsets from LS for example)

    7. I did contact them a few days ago to this email : [email protected]
They answered me real quick. They were also fluent english speakers.
Could they have missed your e-mail? Maybe?

    8. I still haven't gotten a reply form that e-mail address. I contacted them from two separate e-mails of my own too multiple times so I find it very odd that every single e-mail I sent slipped through the cracks. I did finally get a reply on Facebook a few days ago but at that point I opted to order via TaoBao since that was the only way I was getting regular replies.

Unfortuantely I was told no when I FINALLY got a response. I had also asked about switching out the hands to the longer nail hands since I was buying the nail art..another no. The heel legs and the long nail hands are both available on the Chinese website but not the English or Japanese ones. They are also not available on TaoBao.

    9. Auch. Its really sketchy that some buyers get instant replies and others are ignored like that.
Maybe taobao is the main platform for them to sell, so they priorize it?
Maybe I was lucky and I got fast responses..
I hope they answer you though, you don't deserve this.

    10. I’ve heard most people have a really hard time ordering straight from them... It’s really sad because their dolls are really nice.
I have fluent japanese so I never really had any trouble. I would suggest ordering from a dealer like Clover singing doll base
The owner is super nice and they have AS Dolls listed even before the other dealers. Fluent english and prompt reply.
