Damnit! I missed him! I was upstairs taking a bath so I didn't hear the postman! Now he is in the post office waiting for me to collect him. Damn I have to wait until tomorrow though Oh well, he's made it to the UK anyway so that's a relief

 

oh that's really annoying SnowedUnder! Hope you can get him tomorrow - our post office shuts lunch time as it's new years eve - no idea about the parcel depots though.....

Hi everyone.. I just ordered my AOD Qian... I apologize if this has been asked, I did try to do a search, but I couldn't find anything. (Sorry, I am a newbie)

What size wigs do the 1/3 wear? I see that their head circ. is 22cm which is like 8 inches or so. I was looking at 8-9 but i want to be sure that the 9-10 wigs do not fit better. I am planning on getting a cap for her head for the wig to go on.

 

Hi Siccah - Congrats on your order - I love my (son's) Qian! She's currently wearing an 8-9" wig from fatiao on ebay http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Fatiao-Dol...13884011&_sid=916524501&_trksid=p4634.c0.m322 and has worn a couple of dollzone 1/3 sized wigs in the past - I usually have to cut the bangs/fringe on wigs though, or clip them up. I have never used a wig cap though so I couldn't tell you about the fit over that. The wigs I've used fit really snugly and don't fall off or stain, so I've never thought about using a headcap.

I've just discovered that AoD bodies fit the (now discontinued) dollzone girl heads! AoD pink normal is a perfect match for LAST year's dollzone 'pink' but this has now got pinker due to demand, so there's a slight colour difference as you can see in this photo of dollzone Clovera head on Aod body. I also tried the body with my dollzone Una's head and it's a perfect fit for that too. Even though the dollzone necks are apparently smaller, it has excellent mobility on the larger AoD neck.

Hey everyone! I am currently debating. I've wanted a Qian for the longest time. I have most parts of a family, father and 3 kids (AOD Gu, Chen, Rao, and CH Jupiter). I've wanted a Qian to be the wife/mother in the family to me she looked a lot like Rao. I can't tell anymore though, since AOD changed up a lot of their molds.
Does anyone have any photos of the old and new Qian together? Faceupped or blank would be a help, as I really feel like the eyes, nose, and lips are entirely different, but I can't really tell. :/ Any help would be appreciated!

 

Victoria's lovely Tipsyfox - Juli is a sculpt I'd not really looked at before - I like the faceup you've given her, she has such a sweet little smile!

I THINK that's a Mo Lan... first generation.

 

To me that looks like a Zi Yuan.

 

oooh! *nodnod* Yes, Zi Yuan. I think so too now that you mention it. Some of their early sculpts were very similar. I got a Mo Lan and Zi Yuan mixed up once... didn't realize it till too late. Some of their sculpts went thru a 2nd generation re-imagining and now look more unique.

 

Ah I think you are right about Zi Yuan! He is very old, he actually is supposed to be white skin. I've dramatically modded him since getting him and even heavily sanded his resin is still quite yellow.

I was thinking it was Zi Yuan earlier but the eye shape just didn't match up in my opinion. Did they revamp the sculpt?

And sorry to barge into the discussion with a random question like that. XD I actually don't own one complete AoD, but a couple hybids. ^~^ I am a fan of AoD very much though, I really want Gu and Vampire Shi.
Right now I have an Impldoll head on the 1/3 girl body with a ftm mod, and a heavily modded Zi Yuan on a blueblood body. =v= I guess if you put the AoD parts together, I have a complete doll. XD

 

This is my Zi Yuan girl. XD and the reason I could go 'Ooooh, I think it's this one.' She's on the first version body and was my first doll ever.

Are there many others with a first gen AOD?

 

My sister has two from when they just started, back in early 2007. She got a Zi Yuan and a Mo Lan as boys.

Oh yes. I have a number of them. I started my doll collecting back in 2007 and for a poor girl AoD was a godsend because they were so affordable! I bought many of the bodies to hybrid with other company's heads for myself and others. I have a first gen Gu around somewhere (can't find his head!), a first gen Mo Lan I think, and the other one I get mixed up with, Zi Yuan... plus the tanned Juli I adore so much. I bought and spoke to the AoD store on ebay so often they knew me by name; if I wanted to buy on credit with them, I could. (Never did, but it was offered.) One of the young managers there, Lau, took a shine to my niece Ella and he and his new wife sort of adopted her as their god daughter. He sent her a gift when she was born in 2007: her own tanned 1/6th baby! Their tanned dolls were such a lovely color. I wish they'd never stopped making the tan. It just keeps looking better each year! (My niece's baby was a boy... technically he's still a boy but we call him a she and I have assured her that one day I will dremmel off the boy bits and make him a proper lady. My niece's father gives me the funniest look when I say that, but my niece nods quite sagely and patiently waits.) Oh, and I am selling a 1st gen Nini on ebay right now, before they even used magnets and just had that terrible hook-in-head system. Resin is real stable though- it mellows a bit but that's all. Looks nice and healthy. (The Mo Lan head -I think- was a dyeing experiment gone horribly awry. It's not the AoD resin what did that mess.)

I'm sorry WinterRain, I have no idea how to restring that body but I feel like it's a normal restring, and you could find a video on that on YouTube ^^ <I should practice restringing lol

 

WinterRain, are you able to get the head cap off? Because that was the worst part for me. Just pull the cap apart and then down. Also ribbon, a crochet hook and pipe cleaners will be your friend if you don't have forsnips (or however you spell them. >_<)

Well sadly my son decided NOT to give me back my first doll, AoD Qian But on the other hand I'm pleased he's bonded with her - kind of - as in he totally ignores her but apparently likes her being there - which is really how he treats me too LOL

BUT!!! I just sold some dolls and have wanted AoD Kim for months now - I just love his face so much, although I'm not crazy about elf ears - I can live with them! So I've just ordered him from Alices Collections - so excited to order him at long last No idea how I'll dress him as he's my first 1/3 boy - I've got a 65cm who wears 70cm clothes, and an impldoll idol boy who doesn't fit ANYTHING and is so boring to dress! So I'm looking forward to dressing a normal sized boy - He'll be called 'Will' because that name just kept popping into my head when I thought about him - no idea why! Love his face though - got him blank as I like him blank better than with the AoD faceup. So now my dolly money is absolutely all gone - bills to pay from now on - and I think it's really neat that my first doll was an AoD, and my last doll will be too Got this on my desktop

 

Some days ago we received a new glasses

 

I got my Qi in a trade and I love her to pieces!! Her name is Cricket now, a minstrel, and she's just too freakin' cute! What an amazingly versatile sculpt! She has her factory faceup and while I may enhance it, I like it too much to remove it.

well my Kim finally arrived today - just over a month from order to delivery (from Alices Collections) I just love his face so much, although not sure on wig yet - and these clothes aren't his, they're all I had in his size! And yet another doll to do faceup on, if I ever get around to it He poses beautifully though - I'm very impressed!
