    12. @Jacyn

      welcome! mate~

    13. Can I ask a question of everyone here? I was going over some possible signs of recasts and I have an AOD sd girl that I now fear maybe a recast. I want to see if any othe AOD sd owners have the same experiences with their dolls. Firstly, I bought my AOD Qi elf from junkyspot, but the problem lies in that I recieved no form of birth card or certificate which apparently AOD does according to one person I contacted on the MP. The other problem is that the head cap doesn't stick to the head correctly in the back as there is a ridge that is blocking the back from closing properly. Are these common factors among these dolls or have I been fooled?

    14. Junky Spot doesn't deal in recasts. Emory wouldn't do that, rest assured. And no one would recast an AoD as they wouldn't be worth it. Bootleg maybe (Highly doubt it from JS), but not recast. AoD is 'cheaper' but all together lovely. Their headcaps don't always fit. I have many AoDs and never gotten a CoA for one. Is that something new? You haven't been fooled my dear, you just have an AoD. They're awesome, but they're not Iplehouse or Volks or anything.

    15. Idelle, I ordered both of my AODs from HappyHouse and last I checked they were an official dealer. (Can anyone update further on this?) My AOD Qian came with a certificate even though I only orderded her head to go with an AOD body I already had but my AOD Gu head that I ordered for an AOD body I already had didn't come with one. I also saw AOD had logo stickers now on the back of the head. No idea when they started that up but neither of my dolls came with that unless the sticker came off in the parcel box and I didn't notice.

I am wary of dealing with the company directly because of all the bad feedback I've read about them so I tend to order through a dealer for this specific company.

    16. Thank you Shirahime and chalyss. I was getting a little nervous, I feel bad for doubting emory but once the though of it got stuck in there it wouldn't leave. :( I am sorry for bringing up bootlegs and recasts up here, but thanks for the relief. :) I do adore AoD's but it does make sense now that they may not be one to really be recasted. As for the CoA I don't know. The girl I talked to said that the last one she got came with one. I don't know if it was the dealer she got it from doing on or if it was AoD themselves. Idk, really. And its good to hear that the headcap thing, too. It just looks like I need to sand back the ridge to get it to fit right. Anywayyyyy, thank you. :D

    17. hey,mates~~

      here is so quiet

    18. I ordered a doll and got a free head as part of the Christmas promotion in 2012. Both the full doll and the head came with COA. This is the first time I ordered directly from the company or AOD new for that matter so I am not sure if COA is a new thing with them. It's worth asking on their question board. Emails do take some time and even though my emails were eventually replied but there was some time in between.

    19. Oriha spam then! since its so quiet. and my boy lol oriha is a heidi sculpt
      [IMG]

    20. oh, I like her wig¬ ¬

    21. Hey I have a Meng Li and was just wondering if anyone else has had problems with the wrists? Her hands have a little embedded hook in them. I had to flip the s hook bc the one end was gouging the top of the little wrist piece. Do I have like an older body or are they just like that?

    22. Hi! My finally got my very first BJD, she's an AOD 1/3 Qian so I thought I'd share some pictures. Her name is Opal, and she's wearing a dress I made for her. [IMG]Sorry for the phone picture quality. I don't know how to pose her yet. I actually had some issues with tight stringing when she first came in. I've restrung her, but I'm still having problems standing her up, maybe she's too loose now? How do I tell? I've never actually played with a BJD before, so it's hard for me to tell what the proper tension is. [IMG][/IMG][IMG][/IMG][IMG][/IMG]

    23. BLUEBOY: I'm not sure what you mean...

FINMY: Congrats! She's beautiful! Love the Qian sculpt! As for tension... I wish I could tell you. *L* I've been in the hobby awhile now and I still have problems with that myself. You may need to hot glue suede her- resin is very smooth and it holds poses better when it has tooth, like the 'catch' of hot glue (cooled, of course). If she can stand unaided without her knees buckling, she's probably strung okay though someone else may be able to answer that better. I'd suede her. Some dolls even need wiring to hold poses properly. Both are easy mods. Restringing was a much harder mod than the two I am mentioning.

    24. yeah I worded it wrong lol. I'm used to RS dolls that dont have the little o hook in the hand, just a loop drilled out of the resin. The one end of the s-hook was scatching the hand side of the little round part of her wrist. It even kind of clicked sometimes. I flipped the s-hook and now the hand part clicks on the wrist. That doesnt damage the resin, but is kind of annoying. Idk I probably should just restring her.

    25. Blueboy: OK, I think I have a better idea now. *L* The way the hooks are facing can matter, but it sounds like one end of the hook (the scraping part) is probably too open. Take some needlenose pliers and squeeze the open end of the hook a little tighter together. That'll probably take care of it. You won't even have to unstring to do it. If that doesn't work, then maybe restringing would help.

    26. I found that the biggest issue in getting my girl to stand is in her feet and ankles. The bottom of here feet have no flat part to stand on, so definitely use shoes (looks like you're already doing this). I hot glue sueded my AOD and it has helped immensely with all of her posing, but it most improved her ankles and standing. AOD ankles like to roll, and sueding - or boots if you're not ready for sueding - will help.

    27. Some other members brought it to my attention that the problem is possibly that I used too thin of elastic when I restrung her. I ordered some in a proper thickness and I'm going to suede her with some adhesive moleskin too. Hopefully after that I'll get better results. And actually, for me her ankles don't roll, with both loose and tight stringing her ankles and wrists like to click and only lock into two positions. Shoes help, finding shoes for the non heeled feet is a bit of a pain though.

    28. Huh, maybe we've got different versions of the body or something. In any case, hope the new elastics help. I had to order new elastics when I got my girl, but she was second hand and had by far the oddest stringing I've ever seen. I definitely recommend sueding. Make sure the material is super thin. The extra space will add up and make the stringing tighter. Also, if it's too thick it can interfere with how the joint works. Good luck!

    29. I saw that there was actually a bit of chatter going on in here, so I thought I'd pop in and share some spam! Here's Victoria (Juli) being a swap project model.

    30. Yay for spam! Nice pic!

    31. Hello! I have a female body I'm using for a hybrid for an OT-for-this-thread head, and I had some questions about the body, particularly the arms.
The joint in my girl's arms is quite small... therefore she is limited on what I can do with them, I cannot get her to touch her face, for example.
Would it be difficult to get a joint from another company that may be a bit longer and put it in the old joint's place? Sorry if this is a newbie-ish question, as I've never thought of mixing and matching body parts or heard much about other people doing it.
I bought her second-hand and from what I can see she is already hot-glue sueded.

      Any advice?

    32. That is an interesting idea. I've never tried anything like that for my female body. To my understanding, most parts are designed for the specific body so to find one that would fit exactly and is a good resin match could be a hit and miss trial. The other option, if you really really want a different elbow joint in her arms is to either mod the ones currently there or if you find one from another company that might work, you may have to mod it to fit/work better.

    33. If it's a matter of not holding a pose you could try adding wire to the joints rather than trying to replace the joint.

    34. Hi guys, I have ordered the Huixiang head and am looking for a curvier body for her. Could anyone, if they have a moment spare, perhaps help me in this? What bodies do the heads fit on well with do you think? Thanks!

    35. Just dropping by to share this with you all:

Liam, an AOD Ruo Feng, is a Drag Queen, crossdresser, singer and entertainer.
I've modified just about all of him and not much of the original sculpt it left today.
Dress is designed and made by me.

    36. I just love her :D
      [IMG]

    37. just wondering if anyone has a female Jimi. Also where do you order your dolls? I once had a 1/4 AoD but she is no longer with me. Jimi's face called out to me and I feel like his sculpt is telling to get him XD

    38. Fush, my Jimi is male, but I have been planning to get a second on a female body to be his sister. Jimi is a stunning sculpt, and one that - I think - lends itself equally well to male or female characters.

      I hope that helps!

    39. I know Jimi is a male by default but does anyone know where i could order him with a female body since their site isn't exactly easy to work through and I would be needing a body switch. My first BJD and it was a AoD was a gift so i have no idea where to look. any pointers would work lovely.

I wouldnt mind seeing pictures of your boy Jimi. I just am wondering what people have done with his sculpt.

    40. oh I've just discovered this thread :fangirl: Now I am wanting some 'smart' shoes/boots for my AoD Qian, as she's an accountant, believe it or not - But their feet are so big for girl's shoes! I really like these boy's boots http://www.acbjd.com/bt034-p-349.html?cPath=1_20 but worried they might look enormous on her? I know impldoll do some good boots for their Star line - anyone tried them?

As for posing well my AoD Qian is the only AoD doll I have - I've had her just over a year and she was my first doll - She's brilliant compared to any of my other dolls! I just persevere if a doll isn't a great poser - I loathe restringing and such - I never even took her headcap off for about 8 months! Before I discovered bjd I had a repro antique, 27" ball joint doll (papier mache and bisque) which was a nightmare to pose, so I've always found any bjd to be great after that experience. But yes - she's always stood like a rock, so no worries there.

And where to buy them from? Well my Qian came from happyhouse4u dealers and took just a month - but their postage is astonomical, so I'm going to use Alices Collections next time, as they charge HALF the price for postage! I've heard AoD are a nightmare to deal with directly? Not going down that route anyway.

But yes - I fell out of love with my first doll, but am now back in love with her - I think she's absolutely fantastic for the money, and my only complaint about her would be those dreadful 'claw' hands! I don't think I could cope with changing them though. I had a 90cm AoD Bo and restrung him, and I recall the hook digging in the hand/wrist ball and clicking issue too with him - It seemed the hook was good one way around but not the other, although the ends looked identical to me. But after restringing him, which was traumatic to say the least - I don't want to ever have to do my Qian, although I guess one day I'll have to :sweat Anyway - here's a photo of my first doll, Eunice :aheartbea

    41. Fush, I'm sorry I only just got a chance to check this thread again! >.<

This is by no means the best photo I have of my boy, but it's the best I currently have to hand:

He's such a diva. (Well, he IS royalty... vain little peacock. XD)

A closer shot of his face:

One of the other people at the writer's group where these were taken thought he WAS a girl... (She also thought he was a vampire. Dressing him in a frilly shirt might have been a bad idea. -_-)

    42. my Jimi mold looks like a girl because he's a crossdresser so it'll be easy to turn him into a girl with the right body.

    43. wow he looks great jigarkhvar - I love the eyelashes! :aheartbea The boy's hands seem a lot nicer than the girl's hands in this size - more natural looking

    44. aww thank you soo much
the lashes drove me crazy when glueing them >.< stupid feathers -.- but now i am super satisfied....maybe wanna change the face up from default to something else... but don't know yet.

Thankies. I glued on long nails and painted them but they fell of - have to redo this sometime with hotglue ^^"

    45. I was using this as my facebook cover photo so it's kind of edited up, but I thought I would share my doll here as well!
She is an AoD Qi with a beautiful faceup by karlykitten. Her name is Avalon.

    46. she's really beautyful. i love AOD Molds - I could buy so many of them XD

    47. I just got my AoD Juli girl, Victoria back from a faceup! I am so happy because she no longer looks sunburned or terribly embarassed :) She got new eyes too! I had thought I would end up selling her, because I just ever was happy with her with her previous face and her awful giant claw hands, but I think she can stay now.

    48. I really like her- the new face up perfectly matches with her hair color - especially the lips ^^

and don't mind about the hands. All AOD's have hudge hands for some reason. I personally love that fact - *loves hudge hands*

    49. Here is some oriha spam...been awhile since i posted anything in here. she recently got a new face up too..

    50. Wow!! I especially love that top pic! I adore this sculpt so much!

    51. Has anyone been able to get in contact with AoD lately? I had a white 1/3 girl body on layaway with them, and at the beginning of November, I paid it off and they said it would be shipped within a week. Until now, no response, even after numerous emails and finally a refund request. I'm getting worried...

    52. thanks @chalyss

    53. Hi guys. Quick question: Anyone have different hands on their girl? I have a hybrid on an AOD body and I am looking for different hand options. Because she's a Supia head I'm thinking of those, but I will be ordering Elfdoll hands for another doll that needs new hands (2014: year of the hand??) and it would be convenient if I could do them all at once....

I do have a friend with an Elfdoll, so I can eventually try them on her, but if anyone knows off hand that would be cool. I know all the resins match, as the head I had on the body before the Supia girl was ED XD so I'm just looking for fit and size...

    54. Hi!
I'm waiting my first SD, AOD Izumo, has anyone got any him and want to share pictures? I hate his company face-up so it will go as soon as he's here :P I do like the naked head. He looks weird on all the company pictures. I might do a hybrid later, if I like the SD size. This was a impulsive buy, I was desperate after a SD boy and was seeing him for sale and was thinking for days and days and then I went for it, so now I'm trying to find clothes and wigs and so on, haha! I don't think I can squeeze him in, in my tiny's clothes :P

    55. I like the mold <3
so you did a good choise
can't wait to see piccs <3

    56. Cute dolls lili, Tipsyfox and oXtatsukoXo :D Forced my son to have my AoD Qian for Christmas, together with a fair selection of clothing and wigs - This is how he styled her - she's now called Amber! I love her new look - can I please have her back for my birthday in a couple of months?:fangirl:.darn I can't do linebreaks here with my new computer!.....................................[IMG]

    57. I hope so :) <3 Still waiting for him to arrive, damn christmas and the post is much slower this time of the year. :P I will share some pics when he's here :)

    58. AOD has a really large size half as a man. it seems not easy to buy cloths

    59. _Sushi I used to have one of their 90cm boys! He was very heavy indeed and had to sit on a floor cushion, so took up too much room (my house is too small!) I had to sew him pants/trousers, but tops were easy to find using baby clothes in adult style and colours (styles vary from different manufacturers) - much cheaper than bjd clothes too! He wore a size 9-12 month baby top from Primark, but again sizing varies with different manufacturers. He wore baby shoes too - UK size 4 or 5 - there are some cute styles in tiny sizes - he had converse boots and some suede desert boots, both off ebay very cheap, since babies don't wear shoes out at that age, they were like new. Here's a photo of him with my AoD Qian.........................[IMG]
