3. Cross post since I think I should probably move from the "waiting room" to the "doll in hand" with my Chen as he has arrived. :) I hope this helps anyone who was going back and forth - I think he's a fantastic find for the price!

Some pix, thoughts -

4. I've just got my boy, and I did some pictures on him too^^

This was how he arrived. The makeup's good, and i love the lips, but he looked a bit too pink for my liking :

cute things that he came with :P :
[IMG] [IMG]
boxers~! *giggling fit*

This is how he looked like now cos I couldn't stand him being like a chinese opera singer >w> (no offense to anyone who liked it^^; )
[IMG] [IMG]

I lined him up for comparison with my DZ Xi ( on DOC LONG LEGGED BODY) and Angel Region Jade <3

For those of you who wants to take out your AOD's eyes, I have to tell you to becareful tho. The eye is hollow, and it's filled in by the yellow eye putty. When you get it out, it will most probably scrape at the whites (which just looks like a thin layer of white colour >_> not a "plastic" piece like in other acryllic eyes)

Mine scraped and showed through. It's easy to fix tho, in my case. I just painted in the back with white acryllic and let it dry, and repeat a few times^^; Nothing too traumatic. It's rather cheap eyes anyway.

That's all that I have for now <3

5. As a beginner, a beginner's question: how do you remove stains?

6. My Chen arrived this week...what do i think of him?

1: Terrible make-up but it was free so i suppose i should'nt look a gift horse in the mouth but it will be removed soon! Thre are smudges just above his upper lip and the eyelids are blotchy.

2: Resin is very smooth and very white with no seam lines. Chen is a lightweight compared to my dolls of similar size but for $150 what can i expect - i have'nt detected any thin areas of resin so who knows the reason for this.

3. He looks like a girl?!?! Odd face sculpt but suspect he will look more manly with new make-up. His pics on the AoD website are just a tad misleading as they don't show him full face so you can't see his long jawline.

4: He has big feet and they appear different to pics posted here before so maybe they have changed the foot sculpt for something simpler - he certainly does not have spaces between his toes as shown in previous pics.

5: Poses really well - can't fault that at all

6: Overall sculpt is very basic in comparison to my other dolls, the detail just is'nt as good as more expensive dolls. There are some very flat looking areas on his arms and legs which make his limbs look a bit puppet-like. His body is great though! Obviously his sculptor is better at bodies than limbs?

Chen is'nt the most realistic looking BJD but he makes a nice 'starter doll' and as he was so cheap i don't regret buying him at all but i seriously doubt i will be buying any more Angel of Dream dolls as they don't quite hit the mark for me. They also did'nt tell me he had been shipped and he spent 24hrs out on the rain soaked doorstep and i did'nt have to sign for him!

All the above is just my humble opinion ;)

7. soap and water. :)
Lots of folks use Mr. Clean Magic Eraser (from Target, WalMart, etc), but I usually just use mild dishsoap on a damp white papertowel. (make sure the papertowel is white - I used one the other day with a print, and transferred the blue ink... :doh it came right off when I switched to a white one though, no worries)

8. Mandar > I tried that XD Somehow, I couldn't recreate it on the mold itself^^;

Anyway, I've just only sent my Chen to my girlfriend in Canada, and this is how he looks like, last :

aye he looks girly yes >_>

First we would like to thank you all for buying one of our dolls! We hope that we will get your continued support so that we can produce more dolls in the coming years! We have joined up with Aaron Egawa (Las Vegas NV.) who has created a Newsgroup that will allow all AOD doll owners to post information about their dolls, pictures and any questions that you may have for other owners or our team. This will be a great place of AOD doll owners to meet and chat!

We also hope to have some polls and other fun things down the road! So please join the group and have fun!

We would like USA customers only to join this USA Newsgroup. We may create a Newsgroup for international shortly. But anyone can post on this DOA thread.

11. Update -

Hello AOD Fans and Friends –

I wanted to make sure there was an update on this since I have new Information from AOD. It appears this person who is selling on Ebay is selling our product that they bought from our company at wholesale prices and is also using our pictures and descriptions word for word from our sites. As part of the contract when buying AOD product from us in China they are not allowed to sell on Ebay like a store. We are the only ones to sell mass AOD product on Ebay.

This does not mean that you a buyer of AOD (Angel of Dream) can not sell your doll if you no longer want the doll and feel like selling to get another doll. We understand that that is just a part of collecting and you have that right to sell the doll if you want on Ebay or any other boards. So I just wanted to make sure I clarified this to all owners of AOD dolls.

The AOD store on Ebay is Ebay user: sky18482310521 with Paypal id [email protected] then this is my company which is the true owner of AOD.

If you choose to buy from the other Dealer in China we can not assist you in any way if problem arise during that transaction.

Thanks for you understanding!

Aaron

12. I'm pretty sure the mail from Alan was that this person was a dealer from China that is selling his store stock on Ebay which there is a contract agreement that no stores should sell there dolls on Ebay since they buy the dolls at wholesale prices and are not allowed to sell on Ebay since AOD sells on Ebay.

They are investigating more on this user and will give me more information later. We just want to make sure people are aware! We don't want to scare anyone just inform them who the real dealer of AOD dolls on Ebay when selling large amounts of AOD product. And that we will support our customers that buy product from us on Ebay or our website. :)

Thanks,
Aaron

15. According to what Izumiyavi told me, AoD's and DZ's resins are a perfect color match.

I for myself have a Luts white 1/4 head on an AoD body and they fit wonderfully together. Luts' resin color is never quite the same from one batch to the next, though, so I can't be sure all Luts heads would fit on AoD bodies.

Hope it helps!

16. Does anyone know which clothes I should order for a 1/4 Rao? She will be my first BJD and I know the clothes don't all fit from one 43 cm to the next... Any advice would be great!

17. Dollzone clothes should work for them. When you have enough posts, you can find threads selling clothes that fit DZ minis in the marketplace.

I have played with an AOD mini and compared him (It was a Chen) to my DZ dolls. AOD are a lot more creaky, which put me off them somewhat, but the resin is good quality (as far as I could tell.) It could have been the batch, but the white didn't completely match my DZ Demi.

:Edit: Originally, when I compared the chen to my Demi, the DZ resin was slightly yellower. I just got a BW Fei head and a BW (DZ) Mo and the fei is too yellow to match my mo, but she matches my Demi?

18. I finally had enough of my Chen looking like a ladyboy with his peach face-up and did my own, the old face-up came off really easily.
Has anyone else wiped their AoD make-up off and started again? I'd like to see pics. Here's mine.

I gave him very chapped looking cheeks as if he had just come in from the cold:lol: Need to get him some nicer eyelashes.

19. I got my Chen today and love him totally,

my viewpoint on them:
RESIN

Nice a smooth- the natural is very pale but a nice colour, a pinky white.
The seams are sanded- not to the quality of my Voks doll, but I didn't really expect that. there are a few 'shiny' sanding patches and a few teeny sanding scratches but apart from that it is not too bad.

The fingers are very long and slim, I am going to be careful of them as they look fragile, nicely molded though.

Inside, the resin channels are rough and uneven BUT they do appear to be constant in their thickness, so no undue pressure on the resin. Okay- so the inside is not pretty but it seems of an okay quality- you wouldn't be happy if it was an expensive doll.

POSING

hmmm, mine has a kicky leg but he will stand and is solid when you get him stood up. He will stand in some intersting position, bended knees etc... His kneeling is wonderful very movelable legs. the head has a good range of movement

still not worked out how to get the headcap off!

FACE UP

A bit amateur to be honest, some silly errors you don't expect from a 'professional' face up. It is not too bad- about my level of skill but with a few errors I wouldn't make- or at least would re do if I did! Firstly there is a teeny brush hair on his chin, in the MSC- I would make sure that didn't set in, but then I would be dong one face, not loads in one day!!

The MSC has been spryed too close around teh eyes and looks alittle grainy. bubbly- really not noticeable unless you look up close.

there is also a little smudge of powder at the top of an eyebrow, something again, I would remove- again not terribly noticable.

PACKAGING

not the best! He came in a box with pillows- but no bubble wrap- it seems you get one or the other! Someone needs to tell them they need both!

No face up cover- but I have seem them packaged in bubble wrap round their face...so I am not sure why things are inconsistent!

I am aware they are packaging SD side dols in MSD boxes- thankfully he was just right for his box as he is MSD size.

OVERALL OPINION

Wonderful for the money! Worth buying- certianly if you want a cheap first doll, or a cheap doll to practice on- I ove him and have a character for him, but it involves getting tattoos! I wouldn't risk that for a first time on an expensive doll!

So, thumbs up from me... A little more care and attention would be nice and should be essential in packing.

But how many companies sand your doll and face up them for free?

20. Can anyone tell me if the resin would match a Unoa 1.5 resin and do you think a Unoa 1.5 would look good on the body as far as fit goes?

21. Oh, yes. My girl's faceup lasted about a half-hour out-of-box. It was all pink and purple and way too much gloss on her eyes. So despite me never having done a faceup before, I did it. Here are my results.

Before:

After:

I also found that the old faceup came off really easily. I'll be trying another faceup again in a few days. She was bought partially to be my pratice head, but she's growing on me and might not suffer too many more of my beginner faceups before I send her off to a pro.

22. I'm just guessing from other pics I've seen... since I'm pretty interested in getting my spare Unoa face-plates a body to share, too. I'm looking for a taller girl that's no where near as busty as my sist and has super posable joints.

I've seen Unoa 1.5 heads on minifee normal skin and the resin looks pretty good (even if minifee resin tends to change), and I've seen a minifee normal skin head on an AOD normal skin body and it didn't look too off at all. My instict would say that an Unoa 1.5 head (which is a little darker than a 1.0 head) would be OK with a AOD normal skin body.

If I had a working hubby I'd jump on an AOD 1/4 girl body right now... especially since the price is super duper insanely inexpensive that the risk of it not matching perfectly would be OK....

Can't wait to see someone who's already done it...

23. I know a blushed white skin AOD body with a MNF head looks pretty close, but does anyone have actual photos of a MNF head on the AOD bodies that would show how well the normal skin resin would match?

24. what size eyes is your boy wearing? i bought sage 14mm but i still cant see his pupils.

25. Really? You think it's not that bad? I guess everyone is their own worst critic. Today I finally got some pastels and blushed her, and I like it a bit better, too. But I'm still going to keep practicing. I want to get really good at faceups, if I can.

I knew she was going to look like that, and that I'd have to wipe her ASAP. I got her from an eBay auction. I'm thinking the colour scheme might have been a request from the original owner, but I can't be sure. Supposedly she was never really out of the box, save for inspection, so I'm assuming that's how she came from AoD. Thanks for your compliments and advice, everyone! I'm going to keep working hard and practicing my faceup skills.

The only comparison pics I have now are Luts NS and AOD white. It wasn't anything anyone requested, but maybe someone else might have need of it later.

Taken in natural light.

26. Ok found it! I KNEW I'd seen a pic, and it was on a different forum!

shellyL posted this pic on another forum. Don't know if it's a 1.0 or 1.5 Sist, but it is a normal skin AOD body.

Personally, I think I'd shave down the neck a little, but I think for a long lithe Unoa, I'm going in this direction!

27. Shipping is usually quite fast, I believe ^.^ My 1/4 girl, Rao model, named Annet, quite a somber little thing, she is ^.^

[sorry for the large-ish image ^.^;;]

28. Your Rao looks gorgeous! I love the new olor scheme, and her outfit is really cute too.

I'm hoping to come home from resincon this weekend with a AOD 1/4 boy body, but none of the heads they have are what I have in mind. Does anyone know if the new DOC resin is a good color match to the aod ns? Better yet, would a doc head even fit without major modding?
Sorry if this has already been brought up, I didn't recall seeing it and it's hard to search with the 3 letter thing.
Thank you in advance!

29. the new DOCs are really pink. AOD ns is same as Dollzone ns.
thanks for commenting on my Rao. She's got a fun look and makes a great model for the funky outfits I like to make.

M

30. I just got a girl body for my Unoa faceplates. (It's becoming a hybrid epidemic! ) The girl body is wonderful! I'm thrilled with it. The only thing I don't love about the body is the hands. They're just too thin looking for me.:sweat Has anyone tried changing them for a different companies?

31. OK--got pics! He's got a Kaye headback, and the funniest shorts (which he came with!)

I put Kierren's head on him... very good match...

then my O blank face-plate... just off...

Then thought how hunky he looked and threw a wig on him

I think blushing makes all the difference! Both face-plates are supposed to be 1.5... and please ignore poor Kierren's shirt.. I'm still struggling with learning my serger

32. Actually, there's three sites:

www.aoddoll.com - chinese
www.aoddoll.net - English
www.angel-of-dream.com - Singapore International Site.

The reason why the dolls are priced at $1 on the English site is because it's not yet finished, I believe. It sounds like they're working on their shopping cart stuff.

33. I can't believe I didn't notice this thread before. I wasn't looking for another boy when Wang Zi stole my heart. I lucked out on his default faceup and it matches his wig and eyes wonderfully. All I had to do was trim his eyelashes when he came home. He posed like a dream fresh from the box and now that I have wired his legs and hot glued his body he can do even more.

He fits all the clothes I made for my Dollmore boy but some of the pants are loose because he has a smaller butt. The Dollzone wig I got him fits but it is a bit back heavy and with out velcro it would fall off when ever it got the chance.

I named him Fleur. He is much more of a smirking diva than the stock photos. This pose is from before I wired and hot glued him.

Tristian looks mighty confused by the new arrival.(Poor kid it was his first glomp)

34. It took me all weekend (i'm not a sewing genius by any means) but My newly arrived Chen (Named Ti-Nung-Cha) has new clothes.

[Ti] Now, to show everyone that I have something besides those hideous PJ's you made me!

[Ti] Much better, don't you think? It's not my proper chinese outfit, but it'll do for now. At least it isn't orange and yellow sumo wrestler pajamas. >_>
[IMG]

Not too bad for a first try. I think I'll be sewing him one more outfit, and then he can wait until I can order stuff! Sewing this small is -hard-.

35. My minifee NS head came, and while the post hold my B-el head hostage, I thought a try-out was in order:

and this is in natural light (my house is so cheerfully sunny--great for pics, soooo bad for dollies!)

Normal Skin 1/4 boy body and a NS Minifee Shiwoo Elf head

the resin doesn't match, but man, the head looks soooooo nice with the muscle-y body without it looking bobble-headed!

36. Has anyone tried sueding or restringing their doll yet? I'm planning on sueding my doll soon, but the restringing part has me a little worried. If it's similar to other dolls I'd feel a little better about it because I can probably find a guide. ^^;

37. Hi Jessia -

Yes they are strung like other dolls. The only thing a little different is the S hook that comes up through the head is attached to the HEad cap with the s-hook. So just look at that and how it's attached before you unstring it. :)

38. Hello,

Sorry if this is too off topic but I was just wondering whether Unoa clothing would fit an AOD doll? I have seen some darling Unoa outfits on cheerydoll.com but I don't know if they would fit my Maud. Sorry for this awfully newbie-ish question!

39. I have a Wang Zi, and right now he's wearing MSD size pants from dollmore (white ones). They look okay for the most part, but they're actually a bit big on him. The length is good, but they're really baggy around the waist and hips. I don't have any other clothing for him, so I'm not sure what might fit better.

dunno if that helps or not ^^; I've also been wondering about what other clothing places (eg luts) would fit the AOD bodies better.

40. Hopefully you can find some pics of him in here:
http://www.denofangels.com/forums/showthread.php?t=139354

I didn't go through the whole thing so I don't know if there's many of him.

41. Definitely yes. I have a Unoa head on an AOD body and I've been buying all the Unoa size clothes and they fit great. I even bought a pair of Mio jeans and they fit. If you know anything about Mio jeans they are skin tight. :sweat So I figure if those fit on an AOD (tight, tight) then anything Unoa size will fit.

Here is a picture of a pair of Overalls made by Flonne in Unoa size on my AOD body:

And another outfit made for Unoa:

You will have to excuse the old pics, they are from when she first arrived :)

43. Does anyone know Ming's eye size? I'm guessing 14mm.. am I right? >.>;

44. you are, that's what mine's using and he's not scared (12mm) or abnormal looking (16 mm).

45. That is a something I was wondering, what kind of head system do the AOD minis have? Is it an s-hook?

46. yeah, its an S-hook, but it connects to a loop inside the top of the headcap.. and its so tight i cant get it off!!

48. Did anyone ever find out if the Unoa hands (or other companies) are interchangable/a good resin match with the AOD bodies? I love Zhen, but the hands look a bit thin to me.

49. Hi Everyone ~

As most of you know that when a suntan skin doll is made you do see where some of the sanding marks occur when removing the seam lines happens. So I do want warn everyone to be aware that AOD is not different when it comes to this.

I figured I'd post now so it is not surprise to anyone when they get their Suntan dolls from AOD. I just got my girl and took a few pictures of her. I really like her and the light marks where the seams were removed and it does not matter to me. They did a great job overall and most seam lines are not visable.

So please note that this is not damaged but a slighter color difference when the seams are removed. Most lines do not show but certain areas may show by joints more then others.

50. You can see pictures on the AOD site. www.aoddoll.net or I saw that Denver Doll has pictures of the nude dolls. :)

51. I'm pretty sure 14MM and 16MM both work. I have so many loose eyes and once you take them out of the package I always toss them but I'm pretty sure both sizes fit. It really depeds on the shape of the eyes. :)

52. Hi 18MM or 20MM would be for the 1/3 size dolls. :)

Wang Zi would wear either 16MM or 14MM.

53. Does anybody maybe know how a bobobie 1/4 normal color resin head would look on a normal skin 1/4 AoD? I think the body would be perfect for my extra pixie head i have laying around body less =3

54. OOh an excuse for picture spam of my girl!
I think I am ever so slightly tardy in presenting my beautiful girl to you all! Shame on me! Anyhoo, here is Maudlin AOD Rao 1/4.

When I get my camera back I'll post more. I took this right after her box opening. :)

56. MareOfNightand PrincessAmalthea: I've ordered a Dollzone Shoyo-2, but she won't be here for a while yet. If you guys haven't gotten a picture of the two dolls together by the time I get her, I'll be happy to send a couple of pics your way. :) In the meantime, from looking at the measurements of the two dolls, the AoD doll has a longer arm by 1 cm, a larger bust by 1 cm, a larger waist by 1 1/2 cm., a larger hip by 1 1/2 cm., longer legs by 1 cm, and thicker thighs by 1 cm. Hehe...sorry, info spam, but I hope it helps...It's all I can do until I my doll shows up.

57. so just asking again =3
Does anybody know the resin match between bobobie and AOD?
I have a normal skin head that would like a body in a few months =3
