So exciting!! Did she come with eyes? I think mine will, but I prob should get an extra pair. I think they are 6mm?
Yeah, I can't recommend them enough. I'm amazed at the quality. Yes, they come with 6mm eyes. Which is good because she can wear those while I figure out which ones I really want her to use.
What color eyes did you get? I saw it was random, I hope to get the lavender color! How is the stringing, does she hold her poses nicely? It looks like she does...
The preorder for the new girl and others (including the lovely Lily) is up for anyone interested! Also, my girl came back from her faceup. I adore her! Butterfly by Zalem X, on Flickr
I have to admit that I'm painfully tempted to put in an order during this latest preorder period (just like I was last time), but I really don't think I can justify that much at the moment, even if I get one on layaway These dolls are incredible, and the extra heel parts and accessories are just gorgeous Such works of art! I hope everyone who does get a doll plans on posting lots of photos when they arrive! @zalem Her faceup is so beautiful - she looks stunning!
@Zaliayn Layaway is your friend! It is pricey, but I do feel the doll is amazing and worth cost. Though if you are really tight on cash maybe wait for another preorder. My Lily is going to be sharing the body with the Butterfly because I can't really afford to buy another full doll right now. More pic spam: IMG_5043 by Zalem X, on Flickr
I think I could probably manage it if I went with layaway and just bought the doll (and maybe the corset waist too?), it's whether I should allow myself to do it or not. Also it would likely mean no more dolls for a long while! I'll have to have a good think about it over the next couple of days. If I did go for it, I think I'd choose either Lily or Orchid on the natural posing body, although Butterfly is pretty too. I'd also love all the amazing heel parts, but that would definitely have to wait! *sigh* ...sometimes I think things can be TOO gorgeous haha
Oh, my... I really, really love Ellia even though I'm still a bit undecided about the translucent resin </3. Unfortunately I can't join this pre-order as I just got a new doll a few days ago. But I'll definitely think about getting into the next one.
Pretty! I really love her soft faceup. Did you make the wig and corset? I've never made a wig nor have any sewing skills, but both compliment her well. I think I'm going to get one of the heeled parts, but not sure which one yet. I am wondering about the fragility of the resin that's mentioned, so I plan on emailing for clarification. I was thinking of getting the new Orchid head, as I like that mold too, but I don't know if it'll start to bother me that she doesn't have her own body, and I can't buy another one. Plus there's the boy who I'm interested in as well....my poor wallet.
Ah, the blog has pics of the new boy all painted up. Looks amazing. Very tempting, but I'm out of money at the moment.
@zalem: Ah, even if you did buy everything, it's all well coordinated. Oh yeah the new boy is gorgeous. The faceup made me realize I do indeed like him. I'm interested in what accessories he might have, especially since he too has heeled feet.
Has anyone had luck on finding clothes that fit? I have the natural body. I ended up with a white body, but a 3d printed head. The resin on the head is such a lovely translucent resin, reminds me of snow. Now a want that resin for a body- why do I always want the next thing!!??
I've been hunting for stuff on etsy. Haven't actually pulled the trigger and bought anything yet though.
Just popping in to mention the news that the preorder for the new boy is incoming! >look here!< He's simply stunning! If I collected male dolls, I would be sooooooo tempted (Who am I kidding? I'm already tempted!). Incredible!!!
He's gorgeous. Alas, I don't have the money at the moment. Can't wait for my Lily head to ship though. She's a beauty. Wish I could afford a body for her, but she'll have to share with Butterfly for the time being.
So my best friend has one of these beautiful girls and she says that anything that fits tonner Deja vu dolls as far as clothing goes will fit these girls. She says she buys her clothes from Elen Priv on Etsy. I have one on a LONG layaways so I've got plenty of time to shop for clothes!
Tonner Deja Vu is going to be large and require a lot of tailoring. I have a Dejavu gown I am trying to make over for a girl, but it is slow going. Menagerie/Angel Egg dolls have very very small chests and narrow shoulders- I think in terms of sizing they are more similar to Enchanted Doll or Popovy- and there are Etsy clothes makers for both. size comparison While the Angel Egg here isn't actually resin, she is the same size. As you can see her shoulders and torso are more similar to Enchanted Doll or Popovy (on either side of her) The darker brown girl 2 dolls over is Tender Creations- and THAT doll wears Deja Vu gowns perfectly. She is much larger than any of the AE dolls. Posing comparison by Sarah, on Flickr
Also, I forgot to share a pic of my Butterfly! Love her so much- can't wait for the boy now! So excited he finally cast. I don't collect male dolls but this is the most beautiful male doll I have EVER seen so I had to have him. Butterfly Dentelle - Marmite Sue by Sarah, on Flickr
I meant the new natural posing girl; sorry for not explaining that. I don't have pictures of my friend's doll but she says that the deja vu clothes fit the natural posing body. By the way, congrats on your new girl, she is gorgeous! Oh, I don't know how to link to the photo but o_cyranka_o hon Instagram posted a photo of the natural posing girl next to Tender Creation and a popovy. I'll try to post this: As you can see the natural posing girl is a little larger than the other marmite sue girls and larger (mostly longer) than the popovy girl too. below, Popovy to the left, then marmite and then Tender Creation. Photo by o_cyranka_o on instagram.
Oh wow you are totally right- I actually have a pose girl, I can't believe I didn't notice her size was so much bigger! (Still working on body blushing her) You are right she absolutely fits Deja Vu clothing (and oddly enough- the 16" designer "Disney Princess" outfits) - yes I did buy a couple for their gowns- I just tried Aurora's top on my AE pose girl and it fits perfect!
I still need to buy clothes for my girl, so all this info is helpful! I had trouble finding measurements for other dolls, so I appreciate making the search easier.
Happy to share the news... I cannot wait to get my girl! Galacticat, I'd love to see the disney outfits on your girl if you get a chance!
Progress on my girl has stalled slightly as I wait for another can of MrSuperClear in the mail Once I have her shading fixed I can dress her For those looking for lingerie- THIS person makes really nice sets that fit the slim tonner dolls and KD dolls- and I think they will fit our pose-girls too. ANEMOS
I just saw some shoes and outfits that Ursi Sarna is making for the marmite sue new posing girls and I'm dying! They are so beautiful!!! If you haven't seen them you can look at her instagram; I'm not sure if she is still going to be using Etsy though....
I know, they are beautiful. Glad she’s now making things for the girls now, unfortunately can’t afford them right now.
Yes, she is now selling through her own website- Ursi Sarna Fashion (Dolls'Symphony) Her prices are a just a little too high for me, for what they are.
Hi! Just joining this thread as I’m thinking of buying one of these gorgeous dolls in this preorder period. I haven’t much time to decide as it finishes on 24th February! Does anyone know if the Marmite Sue head would fit on another body? Would the Popovy body be too small? Any advice will be much appreciated!
I just placed my order for her Venus boy in tan! I’m soooo excited as I’ve been wanting a male to fit with my Pasha girls
I don't know if you could switch bodies- the heads are on so fitted and tight- for both dolls really. But, I haven't tried... The orders are open until Feb 28th, so you have a couple of days, although it looks like the white and light color are almost sold out.
Last Friday I put my Lily on the Marketplace, and today I decided to take a few more photos of her for the listing. In the process I learned to appreciate her posing so much that I decided to keep her for now. She can fall into natural postures effortlessly. I know Eli has improved this body again this year, but honestly there is nothing more I need in a doll. I just have to get used to the jointed hands. This is my first fashion doll and to be honest when I first got her I was shocked at how skinny she is. Her spine scares me even now. Photos didn't prepare me for this reality. But then again, this can be hidden with clothing. Her face is odd but photogenic and even sweet. I'm starting to warm up to her. Where has everybody been getting wigs for their girls?
I ordered the first wig from Eli, not sure what to do about the second. I was thinking about getting one from Ursi Sarna's site, they seem pretty and reasonably priced. https://ursisarna.com/en_US/c/Marmite-Sue/15 And yes, they are soooo skinny. I tell myself that this is what ballet dancers look like anyway, as though they have an eating disorder. I guess the extreme skinny/ballet body is on trend or something, Tender Creation, Marmite Sue and Popovy seem to have incredibly bony doll body's right now. SO BONY I hope more artists try experimenting more with rounder body types next. I know that the artist Emilia (I doubt she's on topic) has a doll body she is working on that she calls "athletic" and it is gorgeous. It would be awesome to see a round or athletic body type for Marmite Sue, although if Popovy or Tender Creation made one, I'd buy theirs as well. But I will admit I love Eli the best so I hope she does it first.
BTW - I've noticed a DRAMATIC uptick on Instagram with regard to people posting photos of their Marmite Sue dolls since the last pose body came out. I am happy for Eli her dolls are finally getting the light they so richly deserve. Are any of you who have Marmite Sue dolls on Instagram? I joined just this year and it is surprisingly fun. Please give me your Instagram name if you are on there and I will follow you and like your posts!!! If you aren't on there, I encourage you to join. Already have one but worried about your family/friends weirding out about all your freaky doll pix? (That's how I felt!) EASY PEEASY! Just make a brand new doll account!!!! Then just add artists and people who also take pictures of the kinds of dolls you like. (Sorry if this is old news to many of you, lol) I'm glad I finally tried it, because it forces me to interact with my dolls more AND I've discovered a lot of amazing doll artists this way. It turns out that MOST of the artists who make gorgeous dolls, fashions, wigs, are way more active on Instagram now than anywhere else. Including Eli herself! Here is Eli's account! She has become quite active: Eli Effenberger/ Menagerie (@marmitesue) • Instagram photos and videos My instagram name is Sarah Galacticatt (@galacticatt2018) • Instagram photos and videos (I don't post many photos (yet) of my BJDs as I never feel like my pictures do them justice... but I promise I will try harder!!) I suggest "following" the tag "MarmiteSue" (that's how I find artists who are making cool fashions and wigs and just taking pretty pictures of Marmite Sue dolls)
@Galacticat I do hope the trend will move to showing some muscles instead of bones. This doll poses so beautifully but with this level of boniness I'll have to cover her up. Funny you should mention Instagram because I just created a separate "doll account" a few days ago (the Instagram name is teddycurrent). People might think I have lost my marbles if I use my regular account. So far my second account is blank and I'm just using it to follow people and see pretty pictures, but I will start posting once I figure out how to take better photos of dolls. Thanks for the tips!
I know what you mean but you should just take and post photos anyway- they don't have to be good at all. I'm finding that this is kinda the beauty of instagram is that MOST people just post meh photos of their dolls. It's only the artists and people with like 70K followers that take and post actual good photos. It is nice sometimes just to see other collectors enjoying their dolls like yours and taking amateur photos of them - it's nice. If I make a goal to post once or twice a week, I find that I interact with my dolls more which is a far cry better than leaving them all in boxes or cabinets. Go on, take a sloppy, dark, camera phone pic of whoever you have laying around and post it-! I will add you and like it
@Galacticat You have given me a totally new perspective on Instagram doll photos. When I do post that first picture I'll @ you that's for sure!
Thanks so much for your reply Galacticat. I was so lucky to find a beautiful Orchid head on the secondary market and have had some success trying it on my Chimeradoll Mouse’s body! I knew the colour match wouldn’t be good as the head is white and the body normal skin but the proportions are really great! I will be getting her a body from Eli but until it arrives I’m happy she can share with Mouse! Marmite Sue Orchid head on Chimeradoll body by anne-uk, on Flickr
Can anybody do a comparison of Eli's older 36cm "natural" body from 2017/2018 with the "posing" body from 2018? It seems from photographs that the older body isn't nearly as bony, I'm wondering if I'd like it better. Eli said she might still have one of the older bodies in stock. Thanks!
I’m currently waiting for my Venus boy, and I often check Instagram to see owner pics. I admit, I actually like the older Venus prototype more from early summer last year, but hopefully I can give him a faceup to change my mind lol. I literally have nothing for him, which is pretty much the same for my girl. I’m terrible. I have an account I made for my dolls but I’m more active on my other one dedicated to my artwork. @D795 I only have the older body, but I assumed they were the same minus the additional joint?
I know my sister used to have a popovy and she said the marmite doll head does fit on the popovy body but she had tan skin tone so didn't match. I'll ask her if she has any pix
Hello to everyone! Venus is my first fashion doll, and I was hesitated almost 6 month, should I ever buy him, or am I too clumsy for him... Got him blank a week ago, and now he has a wig, faceup and blushing, and I DO love him as doll Hope I'll be able to find something to cloth him up on Dollscar BJD con on Sunday!
I just received my Lily by Marmite Sue, the Natural Pose body version 1.2, she's really beautiful, but now she needs a face-up This weekend, June 15th+16th there will be the next preorder for the Natural Pose body version 2, with reworked joints + new faces... it's really tempting.
Unpredictable- sometimes longer than a year- but this time the last preorder was February 2018 I believe, before that it was August 2017. I love the accessories!!! I am so torn as to what to order.... arghhhh my shapeways cart keeps adding up to more than $1000 which is ridiculous.
Thank-you, I signed up for the newsletter and was notified about the new preorder, already. I know how you feel about 'Shapeways'; my Pasha-Pasha sent me on a week-long binge loading and unloading my cart and then learning how to die, paint and smooth the printed accessories.
Guys, I'm dying to get a guy doll... I just don't know though, I never get guy dolls and I'm worried I'll end up having to re-home him which is stressful for me (I don't have much experience but the little I have in re-homing has not been good; I like to buy a doll and keep the doll). Plus, I'm worried that finding clothes for him will be an absolute nightmare... still....
@NikiJay88 Don't worry about clothes: you may use at least Minifee $5 leggins and minifee $10 jacket - and he will look gorgeous in it! Or dress him by Ursisarna: Ursi Sarna Fashion on Instagram: “One of the best commissions this year, best cause I had lot of fun making all parts. This time - and first time - I had an opporrtunity to…”
