This is my first faceup for someone else, 8th faceup total, so i tried to make it nice for my friend while exploring different color usage. Blank slate Pastel layer line work layer Not too much of a difference from above pic to the next and final pics unless you really zoom in, but images provided for documentation. Skin texture+touchup layer I ended up reducing the prominence of the under eye wrinkles and the skin texturing/freckling prior to the final seal. Gloss+lashes / final product i like the lower lashes' shape on the above pic better, but i like the shape of my cheek blushing on the below pic. hopefully next time i'll be able to have all that on both sides in my next faceup lol. I'm pretty proud of how this turned out, but nothing's ever perfect, so any tips or advice on ways to improve are welcome too.
I really like your use of warm and cool tones. It gives a nice translucent quality to the face. Really nice shaping on those lower lashes. Your "client" should be thrilled! For my own preferences, the lips are overpoweringly dark, especially for a guy. You've done such beautiful, delicate work on everything else, and when I look away and come back, those lips are the first thing I notice. You've done a good job on them, don't get me wrong, and I think, from other faceups I've seen that I'm in the minority here, but I'd rather notice those stunning eyes first. Are those eyes your friend's choice or yours? I love the way you've picked up the same tones in the skin.
I agree about the lips coming out too dark in the end. I think I started out okay in color, but the lip creases really darkened it up. I'll keep that in mind next time! Thanks for the critique! The eyes are my own acrylic eyes. They probably are the smallest pupil I had so I used them for him in the progress photos I sent to my friend.
I hope he/she chooses to use similar. I'm kind of obsessed with those eyes. I need a good pair of hazel eyes for my incoming Wesley, and am having a terrible time finding something I like. What are those, if you don't mind my asking?
Oh...I wanted to say, regarding the slight differences between the two sides, human faces aren't perfectly symetrical. Too-mirror-perfect can be, at least to my eye, disturbing in an otherwise tending-toward-realistic face. Like @Parasaur, I think he's stunning as is.
Looks great!!! The eyebrows and all else are superb! I can relate that one side always looks better for me haha. If only I had a real-life symmetry tool.
