Maura: Mmmmm, that was nice...
Maxim: Hmm.
Maura: Are you pleased I came by?


Maxim: I'm fairly sure you could tell that I was.
Maura: You don't sound it.


Maxim: *thoughtfully* Maura... why do you still go out of your way for me?
Maura: That's a funny way to put it.
Maxim: Well, aren't you? Going out of your way for me? I don't ask you to come over.


Maura: I enjoy your company sometimes. *shrug* And you're convenient.
Maxim: *wryly* Thanks. I sound like your handyman, instead of your lover.
Maura: Don't take it that way, hon.


Maxim: How else am I supposed to take it? Apparently I'm convenient to have around when you need me, but you don't want me full-time.
Maura: *sighh* Maxim, this isn't like you. You're positively maudlin. I thought you enjoyed my visits.
Maxim: I do. But... I don't want to do this any more.


Maura: *scoffs* I don't believe that. I suppose that next you'll be saying that you're tired of putting your life on hold because of me.
Maxim: I am. I haven't moved on because I know that eventually you'll show up again.
Maura: Hon, you don't have to sit around and wait for me. Just go out and enjoy yourself.
Maxim: You know I'm not like that. I'd -- *pauses*
Maura: You'd what?
Maxim: Nothing.


Maura: *sighh* Honey, I'm flattered that you don't want to give me up. But it's already done.
Maxim: I wasn't the one who wanted the divorce.
Maura: You should be thrilled. After all... you get to keep having what most men want the most.
Maxim: It's... not the only thing I miss.


Maura: I'm sorry, Maxim. I can't do more than that for you right now. I wasn't happy. I don't know what else to say. And you never told me if you were happy or not.
Maxim: I was. And I thought you were, too. Right up until the end. I must have been an idiot for not seeing it.
Maura: You didn't see it coming? Why didn't you say anything at the time?


Maxim: It was clear you wanted out. You already had your plans made up. I wasn't going to fight with you... over anything.
Maura: Well, then there was some misunderstanding on your part, wasn't there?
Maxim: There certainly was.


Maxim: I... we should have talked about it. I can see that now.
Maura: I almost wish you HAD fought with me over it... because you might have convinced me that you actually wanted me to stay. As it was, I didn't think you would miss me much, either.
Maxim: *shakes head* I can't believe you thought I wouldn't miss you.


Maura: You seemed indifferent to whether I stayed or not. Especially when I asked for the divorce.
Maxim: Well, I wasn't.
Maura: You gave me a very different impression, Maxim. I'm sorry I don't have more to offer you, but... well, I'm rather enjoying my freedom right now. You should enjoy yours too.

 

Maxim: I don't feel free at all.
Maura: I can't help that. You created your own bonds, you'll have to undo them yourself.


Maxim: That's... what I need to do, then. But you don't exactly make it easy.
Maura: *sighh* It was never my intention to make this difficult for you, Maxim, but now I see that I have. I won't come around for a booty call any more... unless you call me first. Keep in touch with me, all right? Just so I know you're okay.
Maxim: I will. But don't worry, I'll be fine.


Maxim: *thoughtfully* You know, an old college friend of mine once said, "In every relationship, one of the partners always loves more than the other. It's never equal." I didn't give it much thought at the time, but... I guess she was right about that.


Maura: I hate to be the bearer of bad news, Maxim, but... it seems that in THIS relationship, YOU are that one. *she leaves*


Maxim: *quietly* I never doubted that...

Thanks, everyone. This is Maura and Maxim's first story together, and I was so pleased with how it turned out.

LadyRingo, I do want these two to be together, so they will have to work it out somehow! They're a beautiful couple.

riddle, I just love Hong! He is so elegant. I thought this story might give some people who were considering buying him a good look. He has a default faceup, but I removed his eyelashes because I couldn't see his eyes.

edwardsgoldeneyes, Maura was being almost sweet to him there, and then WAS very cold at the end, wasn't she? But I don't think he'll be able to resist picking up the phone for long...

Thanks, orphansparrow. When Maura came home, she went right for Maxim and wouldn't even look at my other guys. I feel like they belong together, but she just doesn't know it yet. LOL!

Cloudedmind, I got Hong because I wanted someone who was a contrast to my tan Yuu-2... but I really love Maxim just for himself!! Right now he gets more screen time than my Yuu-2! I see you have a Rosen on the way, hope he arrives soon!

And regarding the bedroom, MyMrNeko... the bed is just two DollZone doll boxes pushed together and covered with fabric, and the headboard is a bamboo dish rack! The chair was found at a doll show, and the greenery, bedside table and ornaments were all thrift store or dollar store finds. The only expensive item is the back wall, which is a Japanese folding screen covered in silk fabric, a family possession. So it didn't cost much at all for me to put this room together!

Thanks so much, everyone! I absolutely love this couple together. As soon as I brought Maura home, she went straight for Maxim, and he's had eyes for no other girl here.

@elve, I bought Maura's bra in a small lot of lingerie, I believe it was made by Just Shining in Australia.

@pixelchixel, that is so nice of you to say! I enjoy doing photostories, that's when my dolls seem to really come alive for me.

@Saphy, I really want the two of them to be together! But it's no fun if there's no obstacles in the way, at least at first. I do love my moody Maxim and prickly Maura together.

Thank you, OneDoll4now! This was my first photostory featuring my Dollzone dolls. I once said I'd never have a BJD over 62cm, but after the first 70cm got in the door, he must have left it open for all his friends! They are all in their twenties, and it's fun to write my stories for their age group.

(Your Jessica is beautiful, BTW!)
