I recently took some photos of my Myou Lorina on the 30cm body and decided to share them here. If anyone has any tips, please leave them in a comment below. I'm not a photographer by any means, but I hope you still enjoy. And here's a recolor of the last photo that I think gives it a vintage feel.
You've got some really nice photos here. The second shot in particular is adorable - I love the way it shows the sizes of the doll and the tea set. Your first photo is a lovely portrait, and I'd like to see that filtered for an old-fashioned look. She'd look exceedingly Alice-like. Thanks for sharing these with us.
@Yuns Thank you!! @k-meister Thank you! That's my favorite shot as well. I agree that filtering the portrait for an old fashioned look would look good- perhaps it's the company photos, but I feel like most of the Myou sculpts have an old fashioned vibe. @Iri_Nes Thank you! Myou has such pretty sculpts that it's hard not to want them all.
I second this comment. The way she looks against the tea set is so cute and doll like. I love photos that shows a doll as a doll in a real life setting. I did enjoy. Thanks very much. Afraid I have no tips for you as I have not yet had the opportunity to take photos of any dolls. Your photos are really good for someone who says they are not a photographer- nicely posed, centered and angled.
She is so cute! Your photography skills are not bad at all. Angles and props are pretty decent. Maybe just have a lint brush available for the little things that we might miss with our eyes, especially when you end up using a really high res camera or when a viewer is using their 4K monitors to look at things. Later on, possibly investing in photography lighting if you were not using those already (a pair is better than just one). Maybe either ironing or steaming your fabric backdrop or investing in one that is a heavier cloth so it doesn't need ironing/steaming (I have the same problem with my white backdrop because it's cheap cotton). If you go to a Claire's or an Icing store, they sell lip balm that is BJD size that looks like brand name items in their iconic shapes such as your Hersey's syrup bottle. Michael's dollar bin also sells BJD items about the size of your doll too for more prop ideas. Ross, Marshalls, Tuesday Morning, the Dollar Tree, the 99 Cents Store, and/or Big Lots also sell BJD sized tea sets and other items depending on inventory and all that for super cheap. Their inventory constantly changes, but when you find a couch or a tea set or whatever it's amazing for future photography projects. But seriously, these pictures are awesome! Keep at it and please post more.
She is a little sweetheart! Your photos are lovely too. The way you've posed her and your choice of props and colours are terrific.
@Booksandtea Thank you so much! I'm glad you liked the the photos. @Ligaya24 Thank you for the detailed advice I really appreciate the time you took to type this. Photography lighting is definitely on my to-buy list. @Elenadoll, @chrstphrl, and @skylarnicole Thank you! @rosehollow I'm really glad you like the colors. I was worried about matching so much pink when setting it up
