I really really want one of these dolls... but it seems like theyre really super limited ><
What's the best way to get your hands on one??

 

There's quite occasionally pre-orders from Noppin, they just had one but there will be more in the future! There are often these girls and boys here on DoA marketplace too, you wanna check that out!

Apparently AL have said they want to do more orders instead of the few they've been doing recently. And it looks like we might be getting a boy preorder this Summer, though it's not been officially announced and I'm only going off a translation from their Japanese store.

Hopefully I'll be able to join in boy spam this year! Unfortunately my Unoa Sist boy (or at least, the body part) has gone for the second time. This time partially because I felt the faceplate was lighter than his body, which was slightly more yellow and it bothered me (since I'm totally picky like that) but mainly because I felt I'd love him more in Fresh Skin! I'm hoping third time is the charm with him. I always miss him when he's gone.

I think I'll use the normal skin faceplate I still have on the girl body and have a Sist girl as well, she'll just have to body share with my L-bi girl for now. XD

 

While I still haven't painted the Sist fp.. I did take a small shoot after receiving my Makoeyes order. The eyes are lovely and fit well, just a tad too dark for my taste ^^; She's stuck with the very pink&white theme until I have time to sew new clothes...

 

I just sent off some more girls off to get them done! Can't wait for the results!

 

Do they announce before hand when they plan on doing the pre-orders?

Because I'd need to save the money up first haha and I would like to be prepared. This is definitely one of my Grail dolls

Blablette you are too kind, thank you so much for liking her! About the wig--yes it is My first, so it turned out to be a little messy, but it was such a fun project to undertake!

 

I just got my hands on a nicely aged second-(or third- or fourth-?)hand Lusis, and she is going to need a LOT of cleaning. She had been blushed, head to toe, by some previous owner, so I need to clean off old sealant and residue out of crevasses. Which is awesome, because I think of that as bonding time.

However, she didn't come with her original string. The seller thoughtfully provided two packs of brand new stringing, of different thicknesses. This leads to two questions:

-What thickness elastic do you use to string your Unoa kids?
-Is there any way for me to determine her year of origin? Her assembly pamphlet has 2003 on the front and 2006 on the insert..

I painted my Fairy skin Sist yesterday (got crazy with the rhinestones...) and she's all pastels now! I don't know what her name is yet, but she has a sister and her name is Helia. So Lilia came first to my mind. I dunno!

Just took the plunge and bought an Unoa Sist off the marketplace!!
In general, any Unoa has been my grail doll, so I'm glad that she will finally be coming home soon! >w< I can't wait!

 

Woo! So excited for you! I've been looking at unoa siste on the market place but can't afford her yet. She's on my (very short) wishlist too. Can't wait to see photos :-)

 

I was wondering if anyone knew when is alchemical labo was going to be selling Unoa's again?

 

No one knows, it just says Early Summer 2014 on their webstore. That's only for the boys though it looks like.

 

I usually don't post cell phone photos of my dolls, but I got so excited about my new girl, I couldn't help but post a picture of her.

I'm amazed with the Unoa body...I got my girl strung just to my liking (fairly tight). She stands great and she holds poses beautifully. I also like how their heads can look up and down very cutely. (As an owner of mostly DDs, I forget that head posing is something some dolls actually have)

 

Quick tip -- to make the head posing even better, get some 18mm silicone KIPS discs (I get mine from Cool Cat) -- putting one under the head (take both parts of the head off, pull the string through the disc and the bottom of the headback, then put back the bar to hold the head in place) makes Unoas even more poseable!

Whoa...that's a big preorder! If I hadn't just finished up an Unoa rescue, I might be tempted...Actually, I'm still tempted...would love to have a *pretty* Unoa one of these days. Montana doesn't do pretty. She does...fun-loving prankster gal. Ah, well.

Quick question: What happens if you sand off the butt locks on the thighs? I hate those things....they make sitting/standing so hard when clothed D:
Plus I'm afraid of a thinner spot on my boys butt that may either be a crack already or turn into one eventually, right where the lock-tab goes.

Has anyone ever sanded those off? Does it make things worse?

 

VampireAngel13, my guess is it wouldn't sit very well, especially if the doll were strung tightly enough to stand on its own. I've never, and would never dare to sand it off for fear of that happening. I do have a friend who left her doll im a sitting pose while strung too tightly (not an Unoa though) and it caused the resin at the bum side adjoining the thigh lock to crack, as it is thin there and thus leaving a lock shaped notch on the butt so maybe if you don't care so much about seating the doll, it might be a consideration to sand it off?

Since seeing the cracked dollbutt, I have never left my Unoa locked in a seated position for an extended period...... :X

Crap I leave mine sitting around all day every day! No wonder his butt is cracking!! I don't know how tight he is....I'll have to pull him apart and test. I should know....he came unstrung and I had to string him *fail*

I appreciate the warning. I've been eyeing that potential crack since I got him, it's really made me nervous. And now that he's wearing pants (ok, tights. He's not really a pants-wearer) it's really hard to get those locks in and out of place without making him all discombobulated and twisty. And the sound those locks make....not something I like to hear around my dolls.

I think I'll look at him closer and see if there's a way to fix him. If nothing else I can put some epoxy in that area to reinforce it....luckily I just bought some!

 

Hooray for preorders! Sadly, if it is a preorder through AL's main website and not through Noppin I don't think Noppin's buying service will help you order dolls directly from his website. I think they worked out a deal somewhere because I tried before and I did not even hear any reply from Noppin when AL's website had the fairy faceplates available. You guys might need to use another buying service. Besides, if Noppin is letting us doing the preorders through them they would have posted a note by now if the preorder starts at the end of June. It would be lovely to finally get an Elder though. She is my last Unoa on my list :3

VampireAngel13: That is strange. My Unoa sits all day for years on end and nothing happens to her. That is so weird about the crack! Never heard that happening before.

 

Two years ago I took part in lottery and won Unoa Sist in fresh skin (first batch)
Up until now, she has not yellowed at all, and the resin still looks beautiful and fresh ^-^

I have to admit, Sist was my holy grail, and I learned I could take part in lottery, nothing could stop me. I think it's one of the best buys I ever done

Well I think I'm going to try the mod. It can't make things worse. Last night I tried to get him out of his sitting position and the locks kept catching on his butt (probably why he's cracking) and then his legs were twisting around. I'm sure some good sueding will let him sit just fine. And if not I can put more locks on! They're driving me nuts as-is....I have to try something.
I think I'll also reinforce his butt crack (that was wrong in so many ways....) with putty too just in case, while I'm at it.

 

Wishing you luck with your mod. Please tell us how it goes and if you can tell us how you did it just in case anyone else needs to do it in the future! I'd love to see before and after photos.

 

I never think to do those, but that would be a good idea! I have to strip him tonight....maybe I can cut them off quickly tonight, then smooth it later and do the putty mod when I have more time. He's going to a doll meet Sunday so I would love to have that done for then...That's it. I'm totally committed now! Here's hoping it works! XD

Well I did it. I also sanded his butt, and got rid of those weird ridges. The verdict: those tabs are just there to annoy me. He sits and stands just fine. Yay!! 3 minutes of sanding and I'm no longer afraid to touch my Unoa!

I sadly was not smart enough to bring my camera home, but I did take pics on my phone. I'll spare you my crappy pics (until tomorrow mwahaha), and take pictures with my real camera tomorrow. If anyone cares. lol

Just snagged a Unoa Sleeping Lusis Mod on the marketplace... I'm so nervous. Last time I had a mini (SOOM Mylo) I didn't enjoy the size.

Thank you thank you!! I'm very happy. Even more because I just ordered (yet) another wig, and finally, his ears. I have the stuff to make a tail on the way, so all my Unicorn parts are finally coming together. Maybe I'll actually be able to get pictures of him again soon....ish.

Unoas have THE cutest legs, I swear!! It's one of the things that made me fall in love with them!

(I'm a little disappointed -- I was going to take one of my girls, with a new faceplate by AngelToast, out to a meetup last night . . . but I managed to make one of her eyelashes come loose when I was putting the eyes in. D'oh . . . didn't have time to glue it back on last night, but I'll try to get it done today. I was really excited to finally put my freshskin Decadent Sist together!!)

My other freshskin heads are with Eludys for face-ups, so I'm really looking forward to seeing what she does with them . . . and finally making it back into the thread to post pictures, LOL!

Noppin does sales separately, so you generally have to use a different shopping service to buy directly from AL. I haven't tried it in a while, so I'm a little vague on the details . . .
