Alchemic Labo Unoa 2.0 Discussion part 1

Dec 28, 2006

    1. I'm sure Gentaro will possibly polish and make his 2nd project reach it's full potential unlike before,
right now 2nd is the most unpopular of the bunch but after her renovation hopefully she'll gain a lot of new hardcore fans, lol
      -
Gentaro has stated before that the resin version will probably never come back, as he has sold their commercial and privilege rights to Sekiguchi with the new vinyl version, it's a real pity cause they're an awesome doll to own, I hope one day he'll make some BJD kit of smaller size to cover that tiny BJD size piece missing,lol..

    2. Ooooh I am dying of anticipation for cream to be restocked ><! I suppose it's good I didn't purchase her earlier if they're somehow updating the 2.0 body... I'd love an under bust joint or new hands or faces! I'm ok with the perma heel feet since they're so pretty but I'd also love to see the popularity increase. I hope she is restocked soon! (and I didn't see the post before editing but if there are such rumors as seem to be hinted at I'm all in! I really want a 2.0 size male...)

    8. Hi,

I am currently considering purchase of a Unoa Labo Mocha. While I know this is a big debate, I find it difficult to accept the mold lines on her. (The seller was gracious and added really good pictures that eliminated any question). While I have put the purchase on a back burner for the moment, I was wondering if anyone out there has been able to address the mold lines on a mocha with any success. I have read the post that any sanding will result in discoloration. Does this statement still hold true. Is there any hope of a Mocha in my future, but without mold lines?

      Thanks

      Robert

    9. the doll is gorgeous, no doubt, the skin color makes her so much more interesting than Cream..but the discoloration is definitely an issue...I'm probably not the person to help you decide, as I've given owning a 2nd Mocha a try...twice...but I then had to let both of them go cause of the skin flaws and discoloration that happened on their skin, first one came really excessively sanded from the first owner and the second had other flaws and little bumps etc which I eventually couldn't handle ..I now own a Cream but I'm still daydreaming about owning a Mocha for a third time,..there's just something about her..XDXD

her seamlines actually are not that prominent and do not require much or any sanding, if you ask me, you can also camouflage any flaws with blushing or even paint on top with a similar complexion,
if you don't mind having blush on a doll body then you can definitely make it work, and if you're careful enough you won't have any problems with her,

    10. I have a Mocha with sanded seams. The previous owner sanded most of them and it did leave mild discoloration on the doll. Personally, I don't care either way. The discoloration doesn't bother me and I doubt the seams would have bothered me either ^^;. The doll is so beautiful otherwise... and since I usually have her clothed I don't notice it. This is coming from the perspective of a person who likes sanded seams... but doesn't mind unsanded. Like n66x said though, the seams on 2.0 aren't very big to start with.

    11. I just picked up a dollybird cream in the mp and I'm really looking forward to getting her!
I didn't think I wanted one, and I'm a bit of an Unoa freak, but saw this one and just loved her! Reminds me of my beloved zero!
I've read this thread a couple of times over and everywhere else I can look for clothing and shoe sizes. I have gathered that Tonner American Model shoes work, and Tyler clothes work. I can't find some of the shoes that passionasfashion did all the wonderful research on about 8 months ago, but I'll keep looking.
Does anyone have any new info on clothes that fit well? Does anyone know if the Tyler jeans fit properly!
Sure would love some input and will be happy to share what I find out when my girl arrives!

    12. WALLY:..The Tonner AM shoe pack I have didn't fit..the AM arch wasn't high enough for Unoa2...
I have not been successfull finding jeans that fit.

    13. Thanks for the info mymy!

Wow, this is just a gorgeous girl, and I am an Unoa freak...but this one is definitely more of a fashion doll than I am used to.
She's awfully pretty to look at though...

    14. Let's try to revive this thread :)

I have both Cream and Mocha, both Dollybird versions. My Cream wears the default face and my Mocha the Honey face and both use their default metallic acrylic eyes. Cream was my first Unoa and thanks to her I am totally smitten with Araki's creations.

I haven't had a problem with clothes as I sew for them myself, but I would love to get more shoes for them. I am at the point where I am willing to learn how to make shoes using the shoe soles available at AL and Noppin. I have made one pair of shoes for my Cream and they turned out good, better than I thought they would.

My Mocha has that left foot problem, too. I wonder if all of them have it?

    15. When will they be released?

    16. it's a lottery, 30 August 2012 - September 19 is the application period, September 22, 2012 is the lottery results day, it's probably too late now and noppin is not too kin on lotteries but if they'll do a pre-order or another lottery you have to contact them and ask them to participate for you..

    17. So they will do another pre order /lottery if I ask them?

    18. Um,no they don't have a say in this they're just a deputy service but if AL has another preorder / lottery themselves then yes you can ask them to participate in that for you.

    19. I had message noppin about if they would do anything for that lottery, and i never got a reply back.
So i guess they arn't too friendly in answering questions like that.

    20. they usually don't answer directly but take note and act fast and like start a procedure after you've notified them but if you mean the latest lottery i think it was too late, they need to know this before the lottery starts to contact AL and AL usually registers a number of dolls just for them..

    21. Hello,
if anyone is still out there that has kept an eye on this thread may i ask you a question. How do you string the legs to a way that will keep them strung tight and not floppy? I would much appreciate this!^^

    22. Just acquired a Cream Unoa 2.0. Hoping she will be the correct scale for a large resin horse I plan to repaint this spring. I have plans to make many Victorian riding outfits for her. :)

    23. Breathing new life in this thread I suppose :) I am a proud new owner of an Unoa 2.0 too! I can't wait for her to show up! I seem to be collecting lots of them!

    24. ... and she is here! I need to take her apart and give her a good cleaning but other than that she is good to go. I can't wait to take photos of her!

    25. [IMG]

She has quite some ways to go from her spa treatment but I have a name for her. Her name is Julianne (haha pun if you get cooking jokes) and she seems to have that ironic personality that goes with the name. I love her already!

    26. Congratulations Gamekitty, in reply to your Q in the Unoa thread, did she come with an extra face? She may have been casted by another company. My Unoa Zero Dollybird has air bubbles as well.

    27. Amanohara: Yes she came with everything. It is the Dollybird cream version. It didn't seem to yellow that much, but she definitely has some resin hole issues. Luckily there isn't much in there, but it is really noticeable if you handle her.

    28. That's unfortunate :( I recall stuffing tiny holes with sanded resin, it's an unfortunate issue with some casted dolls, I hope you can enjoy her otherwise. edit: I've never tried this, but would putting the parts in boiled water perhaps fill the holes back up? I would read this about dents in dolls. Unsure?

    29. Hmmm I never heard of that, but soaking the shoes only yield a small help in cleaning the holes. The toothbrush method only worked so much I think. The marks are really stuck.

    30. Just received my unoa mocha off Y!J! shes never been painted or put together, sadly there are still bunch of tiny factures around her arm hole near front of chest.
I will just have to be very careful with that arm xD.

otherwise she is perfect and i cant wait to paint her~

The stringing guide has me uber confused though? Did anyone string their own unoa 2.0's, did you follow the pictures or make it up on your own?

    31. Congrats on Mocha :D :D :D!!! Unoa 2.0 is so un appreciated!!! I don't remember how I strung my Mocha all those years ago but since I finally pulled her out this weekend I noticed she does need a restringing (and probably sueding or KIPs a least) so guess I'm going to be having that adventure soon...

Here she is <3 wish I could've gotten one of the Creams for sale recently to be her sis but alas... the Unoa 1.5 and lite orders along with real life stuff means she's still alone for now.

    32. Congratulations captainkyo for having a mocha! I do find her interesting to string because she is so unlike the other unoas I own but it is not hard once you get used to it.

Turynn: love your mocha girl! I need one now!

    33. Oh her faceup is so stunning~ I love her little teeths~ :3

I put her legs and arms on, but couldnt figure out how to attach her head (its just resting on top) Not sure which face to paint first either xD

The black wig she came with is sooo soft, i was surprised! But i think i prefer the 4/5 wig size instead so i will have to find one for her~

    34. For the head the string needs to go through the holes on both the head back and the face plate. Then it should hook around the ... Sticky-outey hook part on the very top of that faceplate. I can take pics when I get home ^^

game kitty - thank you!! Please get one haha 2.0 girls need more love!!

    35. Wow, why is this thread so dead? :(

Does anyone here happen to know if Unoa 2.0 girls look good next to Faieyland Chicline girls? I can't find a comparison anywhere.

    36. I bring this thread a bit to life.
I own a Unoa Mocha since they where released. I've done a new Faceup and changed her Outfit. The pic is not great but the Doll

    39. My Unoa 2.0-Chicline hybrid got some photo time. I want to give her a new faceup as this one is oooold and doesn't really suit my taste anymore.

    40. Yay, 2nd's! Mocha has been one of my grails since 2008, and I finally managed to find a reasonably priced Dollybird Special kit on Mandarake's ebay about a month ago. I just got around to painting the faceplates. (And hybridizing the DollyHoney plate and second head-back to an off-topic fashion doll body so that I can have sisters.) Still a work in progress, but she's everything I'd hoped for.

Now, I just need their actual outfits and wigs to come in. :sigh

    42. I finished Bloodbank's nightmare face today. He is a cyborg but his nightmares take on startling transformations. Bloodbank is a cyborg blood supply for my vampires, they don't harm him to take blood. He is on a Souldoll Souloid body.

    43. What Body is she hybrided on?

    44. She is on a Fairyland Chicline female body. Neck needed a bit of modding to be longer, but proportion-wise it fit well.

    45. She looks fantastic

    46. Hi, I'm going to be getting one of these lovely ladies soon. Does any one have any recommendations for shoes/shoe sizes? Is she close to minifee size? I'm lost as to what shoes she will fit

    47. Mine wear Tonner 22" american model high heels and they fit great. At least in the ones I have she can stand solid and unsupported. I can't say anything for sure about Minifee high heels, but theoretically they should fit.

    48. Hey everyone! It's been awhile since I've seen a tan unoa kit come up on Gentaro Araki's e-shop, so I was wondering, does anyone remember the rough price range of a tan unoa lusis/sist kit? ^^; I don't recall and I want to make sure I passively save up enough for one, in case I see one come up on his store anytime soon... especially since I am sure the Tenso proxy fees will add onto that, too.

    49. I recently brought a Cream and a Mocha into my doll family...I haven't named either of them yet, but they were surprisingly cheap on Mandarake, so I decided to go go for it...

It's clothing I''m looking for as my Mocha came with 3 pairs of sandals, so we're ok with shoes, but I'd also heard that the American Model size from Tonner fit. FYI, @KaramiahS

But if anyone could confirm to me what clothing works - would Tonner 16" or 18" clothing fit? Any help gladly received...:D My Cream came with a satin dress but it's pretty manky and it's...very pink...

@Epona - this is the Unoa 2 thread, so you might find more info in the other one. But I picked up an Araki painted Lusis and Sist for about $300 apiece on the secondary market...I feel I got lucky as they were on the 1.0 bodies but the lack of posability counts less for me than the Araki aesthetic...

    50. Omg ahaha I totally spaced out! :frownyblush:I used to have an old unoa from like 2003 and I remembered she was on the old, 1.0 single jointed body and stuff, and when I was scrolling through the unoa threads I saw 2.0 and thought "yeah that sounds about right" :doh Thankyou and sorry about that, lol!
