AKAGIDOLL - 72 cm and 66 cm dolls

I've seen these big boys on ebay and I was REALLY tempted on buying one (still thinking sincerely), because they're big (just what I'm looking for) and pretty cheap *O*

 

I bought a Tanta head last week from Jeeryama. I can't wait to get him. I fell in love with the sculpt when I first saw it. He's so handsome! ^-^ I plan on pairing his head with Loongsoul's 73m body.

 

Yes, the body is awesome! I was thinking of getting one for my Qiong Lou's doll, it's cheap and well built in my opinion, but I'll wait to get feedback on the resin color and quality

 

I'm happy to see a thread for these guys! I ordered one from Jeeryama a couple of months ago and I should be getting a shipping any day. I got a Tanta, but I have no idea if he's coming with a face up or not (hopefully not). I already got his clothes from Alice Collections (ordered one of those military uniforms *drool*), eyes, and wig... Lol even though my herd is up in the 20's I'm still excited to get this guy!

 

I wish she'd hurry and post pics of the 66cm body. JiangLi is really tempting.

Yes, all those outfits are great, I love the feather/eyepatch set! It was the first time I ever even wanted to order a full set, but of course they don't offer that... luckily, the uniforms at least are the ones AC carries. I did go with the black and white instead of black and red, but I love uniforms... the quality is great in person, I'll probably order more lol.

I messaged jeeryama yesterday to see how much longer for my doll; Christina had said around the 18th but it's been a couple of weeks. I think I might do a box opening just because there are so few of these guys around.

 

@ Sadomina I choose normal resin, which I'm hoping will match with one of Loognsoul's normal resins.

 

I emailed Jeeryama to see if she had more information about the 66cm guys. Hoping she'll have nude photos.

 

I'm excited, I should get my doll tomorrow! I would've gotten him today but I was out as I didn't expect him to attempt to be delivered... Oh well. ><; I also have a huge lot of comic books that should be coming tomorrow too. Interesting days ahead...

No luck. According to Christina, the owner of Akagi Doll is planning to release the photos next month.

I'm debating on whether I want to take my chances, order one, and hope the body is like a smaller version of the 72cm body.

Just a note for who live in USA , and wanting to see AKAGIDOLL in real. Mint On Card will have a TANTA to display in store soon. Do you guys live near MOC?

Oh man, Neonraver247, he is gorgeous! I'm wondering how poseable he is though. :O! Is he double jointed at the elbows as well? And man that butt joint looks unique, can he do fetal position? *has so many questions* I'd love you forever if you can answer them!!

 

His elbows are... different lol. They are technically double jointed, but really the double joint doesn't actually do much. His arm just snaps back to a normal bent position and won't stay bent further then 90 degrees. I suppose a simple mod to put a channel in the elbow joint would help.

He can sort of do a fetal position, but it does pull his hip joints out of socket. The mobility joints of his thighs could use a higher ledge to allow him to bring his knees to his chest, which he can't do unless the aforementioned hip joints are our of socket.

 

Mmm I see. Thanks so much! I'm rather hoping the 66cm version will have the double jointed elbows more functional. :O

 

Yeah, I'm curious to see what that body is going to look like. I would hope the elbows (and hands lol) are improved. I did forget to mention the hands have the "1-touch" system that volks has so you don't have to unstring his arms take off his hands, which with the size of them, is required whenever you want to change his shirt. I'm considering repositioning his fingers since his hands really are nicely sculpted but ugh... Kung-Fu grip indeed!

^^; Hi guys! I just ordered a Tanta head. I was wondering what resins match this beautiful company's normal skin. I'm specifically looking for: Granado new normal, or either of Angell-Studio's normal colors, or soom's resin.

 

Hey there! I saw your question in my box opening, so I took some pics for you. I don't have any Angell-Studio dolls, but I did a comparison of akagi with the newest Soom I've got (Sabik SG who I got early this year) and granado PS that's probably almost a yr old now. There's also a RS/BBB NS foot in there too 'cuz its a common color and the same color as the MiniMee head I've got. (Granado on top, Akagi hand holding Soom piece, BBB). Its a decent match for Granado, tho yellower and EV resin. Its about as different as my DollClans head to a Popo body, so I could totally live w/ it

Whee~ happy that i can find discussion thread about akagi doll here \(^_^)/ .. I've been in love with their 66cm dolls, especially Hugues/Huo Xiang .. Just so pretty!! They come pretty cheap too but i don't think i can have them right now *out of money*

May I ask the owners of Tanta. My doll can not stand up straight: constantly leans then right, then left. Joint in the lower back moves very freely. And how are your dolls?

 

I saw on Akagi Doll facebook page that the 72cm dolls weigh 7kg. Are they really that heavy?

Iplan on getting a Tanta in a couple weeks. Husband says I have to wait until after Otakon--Why? I have no idea. I'm just happy he agreed to let me get one! XD
For those who have one already--does the size 16 eye suit him well, or should I go up or down a size? Also, does a 8-9 wig fit properly?

I got a message from Jeeryama saying that my head shipped! I'm so excited, he'll be here soon.

I know this might be a long shot, but does anyone know if Akagi Doll's normal skin matches Loongsoul's Normal Yellow? It looks like it probably does, but I want to be sure, before committing 100% to that body.

 

That's actually really good to hear, because I already have those sizes fom other dolls.

 

I got my Tanta head yesterday! He's beautiful even without a faceup, and his sharp angular features look really good in real life. As others have said the resin feels a lot denser than others, and his head is thicker than my Loongsoul Michelle. Anyway I tried giving him a faceup today, and I failed so badly that I wiped it before the acrylic paint could even dry. I'm going to try again later, and hopefully it'll be at least decent.

So glad to have found this thread! I stumbled across these boys at Mint on Cards last week and have been debating about getting one on layaway. I just adore the Tanta head. It's great to see all the wonderful owner pics posted on here and to read the reviews.

 

I just stumbled on this company and their introduction event through MOC. I am quite tempted to get one, but I am very concerned about the availability of clothing that will fit them properly. Do we have any information on companies/seamstresses that make clothing to fit these dolls? I checked the Wiki, but there isn't a sliver of information on these dolls yet.

For clothing, yes these guys are pretty big. Alice Collections has a whole section of clothing that can be sized to measurements, that's where I got his uniform and it fits perfectly. I haven't compared their measurement to other dolls but other big boys are super senior delfs, they tend to be very... Lol robust.

Weight wise, yes they are heavy! Not my heaviest (EID) but he is in the heavy weight class!

 

I fell in love with Tanta upon seeing him in that military uniform! From what I've heard, the body has a very distinct sculpt, so regular 70cm clothing will not fit it. At least Alice's Collections offers sizing as well as that aforementioned default outfit (plus the cap too)!

 

For the curious, Ara* and I were discussing the differences of the 70cm body she got Nov. of 2012 and the body I got in 2013. The hand sculpt is obviously pretty different, but we discovered the wrist joints on her body are flatish while mine are a separate ball and socket type. I'm posting some pictures so everyone can see what it looks like on my body.

I'm so glad I found this thread! I'm planning on putting the Huo Xiang (Hugues) doll on layaway on MOC soon. I'm just not sure if I want to get the 66 cm or 68 cm body. It's his legs that are longer, and looking at the nude photos on MOC I think I might want that bit of extra length there, it seems that his torso is *very* long to me. I love his face though, he has such cute sad eyes.

 

I'm so glad there is a thread for this!! Ive been looking at akagi dolls for quite a while already and im planning to get a roosevelt! He has like the perfect oresama aura a doll can have!! But i would like to ask if anyone have tried putting their head on other doll company's body??? Cuz im not a big fan of their body compared to their beautiful face sculpt . >_<

 

For people asking about what fits 70cm Akagi boys- I've had good luck with clothing from Iplehouse. The line for their Model EID's works out well. Here's a full body shot of my boy (before I gave him a faceup and changed his wig)

I haven't tried putting Tanta' s head on a different body, but if your looking for an alternate one, you'll want to keep in mind to look at EV resin options. Island doll, Angell-Studio, Loongsoul, and Ringdoll all have 60-70cm boy bodies in EV resin ^^.

And those EID clothes look really good on your doll! I never even thought about them fitting.

 

Thanks, Neonraver247! My Akagi Doll actually has a NS Granado head on and those resins are a very close match and the neck sizes are about perfect as well. Here's a shot of him pre-faceup.


Sorry, once again, for the crappy cellphone pic. So, maybe if Granado bodies interest you, Radeclown? I think they're a wee bit smaller (68cm?) but it might work out?

 

I'm getting my Loongsoul body soon (I got the shipping notice, today.) If anyone one wants I'll put up pics when it arrives.

I just got his body today! I really liked how he turned out, I think Loonsoul's body works really well with him. The only thing, Loongsoul's normal Yellow resin is a touch lighter and not as yellow than Akagidoll's normal resin. It shifts depending on the light, but I think it works. Here's the pictures, please excuse my faceup, I'm still learning how to do them, and his eyes I stuck in a spare pair I had and they're a touch too big for him.

 

I wish wish wish they would sell the clothing. The General doll with the Nelson/Napoleon look is lovely and I'd loooove to have that outfit.

 

I recently discovered that the large Crobidoll shirts fit my Akagi boys. They have some nice stuff on that website. I'm afraid I'm not sure about pants- as I didn't order any.
