I think my package from the UK via Airsure is lost. I have tried the number at USPS.com and all it tells me is "There is no record of this item." Should I wait a few days and get a refund and let the seller deal with the claim or what? Has anyone had this happen? I heard I am suppose to be able to track it on USPS.com but I honestly have no idea. I would have taken EMS but apparently the UK doesn't have it.
I don't understand how Airsure works because sometimes the tracking completely stops when it leaves the UK. Also the tracking number can change once the parcel gets to another country. Normally the postal service should be able to do this 'translation' of tracking numbers. When did they send it to you? Hopefully it's not lost and if the worst happens, the sender will be able to recover its value. It is probably too early to make a claim - the sender has to wait 25 days from the date of posting for parcels to America. "If you believe your item has not been delivered, please allow up to 20 days after posting for items sent to Europe, and 25 days after posting for all other items, before you consider it lost. This is because your item may have been held in customs or could be in the process of being returned to you if it could not be delivered for some reason."
^ From royalmail.com Try going to the Royal Mail tracking engine and use your tracking number there to see how far the British system goes. My experience with USPS and Parcelforce is that they mirror each other's tracking very well. If your parcel ever landed in the US, the Royal Mail tracking should show you.
Just an update: The package has arrived in my hometown this morning! The tracking has never updated between the time the Parcelforce site said it was handed over until this morning. Thank you everyone for the help. I was getting worried when it wouldn't update like it should have!
