Company Website: Aileen Doll Aileen Doll Tiny discussion part 1: Aileen Doll Tiny discussion part 1 Aileen Doll Tiny discussion part 2: Aileen Doll Tiny discussion part 2 --------------------------------- Guys!!! New dragons are coming soon!! I can't wait! Hopefully I can snag one. Do they typically sell out fast? edit- Argh I got too excited I think they're just releasing more pico playsets? Sorry to bother you guys.
They don't appear to be the plastic Plamodels. It says Pico dragon on both banner ads, which makes them the tiny resin dragons. Technically, I believe they're off topic here unless they're included in a photo with the regular size dragons. Not enough joints, is my guess. It's not so much that they sell out quickly but that they're usually available for a very short period, so it's good to be prepared to buy as soon as you see them. My Pico Ashes tells me he needs a friend. But which one?
There's a date posted now for the two new Pico dragons: July 14th! Only a little more than a week away.
Oh you are fast! We will make the announcement tonight but yes, all three of them will start their pre-order on 14th July. What? Why are you looking at me like that? I am not telling! :P *takes off with a maniacal evil laugh*
As if I didn't have enough trouble deciding between Shy and Rot...the one you haven't revealed yet must be something really special. Wish I could afford more than one! I the dragons!
Still no announcement. Out of curiosity I looked at the Aileen Doll Europe site. I was surprised to see Griffon Vera in four different color combinations with different bird names. Also one of the tiny Fairies and a new version of human Luna are available, but no dragons except for the PlaPico. I wonder why the European site has different products? Anybody know?
@vermont chick I read an announcement somewhere (sorry, I’ve forgotten where) that the European dealer has some stock leftover from a bjd convention. The griffins are really cute. I only remember the first release though. OK, back to lurking.
Thanks! That explains it. And now that you mention it, I vaguely remember reading that somewhere, too.
And the third Pico dragon is Ashes, dessert version. I'll be skipping him because I already have the regular Pico Ashes. So I'm back to waffling between Shy and Rot.
I wonder is that possible order through the original site rather than Europe site? Their prices are different.
I think I'm going to spring for Rot. I already own Ashes as a Plamodel in the same colour. Can I ask a question of you lovely people? I'm going to do layaway, I see I have to place the order then send 35% down payment via Paypal. Is it okay if I make a bigger down payment? Do I chose the 'pay for items/services' option in send money? Do I need to calculate the paypal fees in my 35% or does Aileendoll eat the cost? Sorry, I'm so new to this, usually I just hit buy and pay in one lump sum!
@namaro - I thought of getting both, but my latest full-size dragon was Rot so that makes it easier to go with Shy. Plus, if I'm honest, I don't really need the dessert bits. I'd much rather have the second pair of wings that come with Shy. @perfumed-lotus - I've never done layaway with Aileen Doll. (I tend to be a lump sum gal too.) In my experience buying dolls from other companies, however, no company has ever charged PayPal fees. The fees are part of their cost of doing business and they absorb them. I would suggest, though, that if you send a different amount than the 35% Aileen Doll specifies, you should leave them a message both in the order form comments area and the website Q&A to let them know what you are doing. Or else shoot them a quick message now to ask how they want you to proceed.
It is perfectly OK to order from the original site if you wish Just be sure to check on shippings (specially being from UK!) And have in mind custom fees if you order from Korea! No problem in putting down a bigger first payment! Just contact us through Q&A about that. Regarding fees. No need to worry about them. We eat them. Omnomnom delicious fees!
I've been silently hoping for a release of the larger dragons (presumably with 3rd version bodies). Although the Pico dragons are pretty cute, their faces are just too flattened and bodies too chibified for my taste.
My Pico dragon Shy has shipped! I ordered on July 28, so this seems really quick. I know these little guys technically are OT, so I'll show him off with my full size Lapis and Rot.
Mine doesn't show up in Korea Tracking yet. Aileen must have sent my notice before the package had even left the building.
Congratulations @namaro! My Pico Shy's tracking hasn't updated since yesterday at this time. At least I know he's on the ground in the US.
Shy has arrived! No pics yet because it's all gray and gloomy outside, which makes the house dark. Does anyone else have one pair of wings that fits fine and the other that barely holds on? I think the magnet on the larger wings may be recessed too much; it doesn't grab the magnet in the dragon's back.
Here's the family, welcoming little Shy to the group. I didn't notice until after I took the first few photos that one of Shy's ears was drooping. He seems to be the only one with moveable ears.
The funny thing is I'm so used to not even seeing ears on some of the dragons that I just blithely took photos without noticing.
Anyone know if Aileendoll will sell you replacement parts? I lost one of my Lapis dragon’s blue horns I only noticed last night, so I’m not sure if the horn popped off at that time when I was arranging some of my dolls, or if it fell off months ago when I was showing someone how the jaw worked. I can’t find it anywhere, and I doubt it’s going to turn up.
@Zardi - I don't know for sure, but it doesn't hurt to ask. They might require that you buy a replacement pair rather than a single horn. If it were me I wouldn't mind having an extra one on hand in case it happens again. Good luck with it!
You can always have hope that it turns up. I "lost" a headcap once. I searched high and low, in boxes and places where it could have fallen. Then about two years later I took a wig out that I was thinking of selling and there was the headcap snuggled inside!
I'm still searching inside wigs for an Iplehouse headcap label that disappeared when I was trying wigs on a doll. No luck yet. I'm afraid the vacuum cleaner ate it.
In case anyone else ends up in the same predicament, they said they'll sell me another pair of horns for $20 shipped
Pico Shy is cute! I wish I hadn't missed full size Shy... I regret not ordering one. I finally got around to blushing my Angel Ashes, though. Ashes - portrait - 29 by [email protected], on Flickr
Been keeping an eye on this company as they release some of their wip on the V3 dragons and I'm not sure I'm feeling them. It looks like they will be far more mobile, but aesthetically they just don't look as nice as the past two versions.
@Krissim - Thanks for the link! I'm not on Facebook so I don't see these things otherwise. I agree that the new body has more mobility but is less aesthetically pleasing. I suppose the increased size is necessary for the bended knee pose, which is cute but not really necessary IMO. I shouldn't judge before seeing a fully painted version, but they'll have to do a bit more than this to impress me.
Hey @vermont chick how about INSTAGRAM? @aileendoll_europe @Krissim keep following. We DO have an ace up our sleeve...
@Sakura_LH - I don't subscribe to Instagram, either, but I can usually get in if someone posts a link. I did find the page in question. Thanks!
@vermont chick If I link it like this can you check? Aileendoll Europe (@aileendoll_europe) • Instagram photos and videos Also, I believe the facebook page should be public too Aileendoll Europe
Yes, that was perfect. Thank you! For the facebook page, after a few seconds I get a large pop up asking me to join.
Not sure how I feel about the less jointed dragon version that was revealed either. This one sort of goes at the opposite end with too little joints. As the hands/arms appear to be one piece I'm not sure if that it would be considered OT for DOA now. I'm also sure how I feel about the removal of the chest piece as the chest piece always gave a feeling of organic body weight to the original dragons where the new version looks unnaturally ridged, especially with those overly perfect stomach scales.
Version 3 has its own charms. I think it would be better if they used that body to create different dragons. I'm not quite sure why they essentially did a resin plamodel... I'll personally stick to the kits. I am eagerly awaiting Seed. I keep checking his tracking just in case. X3
The ver. 2 dragon body is my favourite aesthetically, and I'm disappointed I wasn't able to get one before they were retired. It seems like it was ages ago that they were retired, too. I'll keep watching to see how the new sculpts turn out once painted.
Version 3 is finally posted on AileenDoll's main site. So far there is only a temporary photo of Lapis with no price and no dates, which makes me wonder if the dragon to be sold will be Lapis or one of the others. (On the photo is the statement: This concept image can be replaced with a real product.) Personally I would rather it be one of the others, because I already have Lapis in ver.2. I also don't have the money right now, so I'd be perfectly content if they waited a little longer to start selling. Posting is up with more photos but the sale doesn't start until April 20th. I just noticed that they are calling the v.3 blue dragon Lazuli instead of Lapis. Either way, it's the same dragon. The last photo shows v.3 Lazuli with a v.1 Classic 10.5cm dragon, apparently coming soon. I don't know what to think of the Classic, as it seems to have no arm or leg joints (just shoulders and hips), which makes it less mobile than the Pico babies.
Lapis version 3 sale is now live! I just bought one, he's super adorable and I really like the skin color. I haven't ordered from this company before so I'm not sure how good they are with keeping their 30 - 50 day turn around time. Also kinda bummed out that I have to order the eyes separately, but I would have to have gotten a good pair elsewhere anyways for a similar price.
@middletails - Congratulations! Did you order the version 3 Lazuli or the smaller Classic Lapis? My last dragon order from them was placed on 7-28-18 and received 9-12-18, so they were keeping their scheduled turnaround time then. (Don't forget to count business days only, not weekends or holidays.) I remember getting eyes from them, but nothing fancy. I think that's the way many companies do it. You get a pair of default eyes, usually acrylic, unless you pay extra for the eyes shown in the photos.
@vermont chick - Thank you! It's the version 3 Lazuli. I keep forgetting that it's business days, but hopefully he'll come once I'm back from my trip in June. The site had mentioned that the eyes were not included, that's why I had to choose the eye option.
