Aesthetics Aggi's body blushing and face-up (1st attempt on Resin)

Sep 2, 2016

    1. Once I finished my last challenge for the triathlon, I decided that I needed to finally bite the bullet since I had some MSC and finish her look with some blushing and a face up. I've never worked on resin before so please be gentle. xD

    2. The blue tints to her looks really nice, especially with those deep blue eyes! It looks really even and fades well.
My only real critique is that the eyeliner and lip lines are a little shaky. But that's something that improves with practice. But it's also hard to do on such a tiny doll! A kneaded eraser and a good pencil sharpener will be your best friends.
      Lovely job, they're super cute!!

    3. I love the blue as well, if it's ok to ask, what did you use to make that fade looks so pretty?

    4. The bodyblushing is stunning, I really like how it fades perfectly, really well done!

    5. Thanks guys! It still amazes me how well she turned out, I seriously wasn't expecting to love her more than I did already!
Yeah they are a little shaky perhaps but I know it will get better with practice.
I really don't know how the blue turned out so well with the fading and whatnot, I just know I used my cheap pastels and eventually gave up on using my brushes and switched instead to cotton swabs which worked so much better.

    6. Blue is literally my favorite color to blush a fantasy doll with. I did the face and body blushing on my BF's DZ Moon dragon and it's all blue as well. XD
I think the blushing looks great, and the only critique I have is just reiterating what others have said about the eyeliner and lip lines. With more practice you'll get the hang of watercolor pencils and the pressure you need to use to get sharper lines. For a first resin faceup, you've done just fine. :)

    7. The blushing is really nice, fades super well. One thing I'd suggest is maybe softening the lines on the lids of the eyes and lips because they're very noticeable as lines, as opposed to blushing or makeup. Maybe a soft brush with some blue pastel would help?

    8. Thanks! I know that the pencil work needs some more practice but I am amazed that the blushing turned out as well as it did! Hopefully with practice I'll get better with it, but it does go on resin with MSC a lot different than it did my MH and Blythe dolls so I know it will take a bit of practice to get it right, once the weather eases up some I have a dollzone mask I'm going to try on since I don't really want to worry about wiping Aggi and trying again since right now I am still very happy with her look!

    9. I have MH dolls as well as a blythe, which i am looking to fully customize at some point as well. I've only tried a little customization on Monster High and Ever After High dolls, faceups, haven't finished them yet. But I am wondering how they are different to customizing resin dolls? The obvious difference is plastic/vinyl does not equal resin, but I am wondering if it can be described or anything? I am considering getting a practice head or something else relatively cheap to practice on. So i might find out decently soon, but I am curious to know, especially since you're new to this as well.

Also is the DZ mask you plan to work on that one with the deer like appearance?

    10. It's hard to explain but I think I needed a lot more pressure to get the color to show up on them vs on Aggi, though some of that might also be because the sealer I used was a lot cheaper than MSC and I don't think it had as much grab. (if that makes sense) I also remember needing to do a lot more layers on them to get the color to show up at all where Aggi needed I think three.
This is the mask that I have to paint.

I actually bought it originally so that with my sister's Big Dipper the order would qualify for the current event doll which was my Scorpio Aggi. Not entirely sure how I am going to paint it yet, but I figure if I start doing something and don't like it I can always wipe and start over.

    11. @TwistedRiver I know exactly what you're talking about. Vinyl dolls tend to "squish" and you need a ton of coats of your color to get it to show up. Resin takes the color right away. It's definitely a bit of a transition going from vinyl to resin, but you'll get the hang of it. She's super cute, regardless. :)
