    2. Where have all the Mishas gone? The whole run sold out and they are nowhere!

Anyway, I sort of finished mine. I say "sort of", as I had no clear plan on starting him and ended up in the middle of nowhere, unsurprisingly. I started out trying to make him look as little like Misha Colins as a good portrait head could be made, and used Sebastian Stan as reference. Then, halfway through, I changed my mind and tried to make him a bit more Misha. So, no idea. I will have another go at some point, but he is done for now.

    3. Your Misha is gorgeous. Love the facial hair and the eyes. Bravo.

    4. He is fabulous!

    5. New head sculpt posted, possibly an MCC head. He's Gorgeous! If I remember correctly, wasn't MCC going to be released behind the new MCCC body, if so Natalia is right on target.

    6. Very nice. It says mCC, so looks as though there will be another mCC order coming up.

    7. Got my Ntombi head back from her face-up, having real problems with the eyes though, just cannot get them placed properly at all, they just don't seem the correct shape. Will post some photos when I can get her sorted but having to hang doors and roller blinds today so not got much time.

    8. Love your Misha

    9. What do you think, folks. Who is the new MCC sculpt supposed to represent? I checked Natalya's photo chart, but couldn't decide.

    10. maybe hi is like Guarwo and Ilja. conventional

    11. Yes, could just be a fresh head. He gives off a Simply Divine vibe to me, with the pillowy lips. Simply Divine Harlequin is based on Andreja (when she was called Andrej) Pejic, but I don't think this is a direct portrait. But it is a beautiful head.

    12. Hey, thanks! I hadn't heard the name Andrej Pejic mentioned for at least six years. I pulled a photograph of Andrej and another exquisite human being for a lecture on gender in one of the university senior rated courses I was teaching at the time (Gender & Communication). Basically, I had twelve images of human beings. I asked my students to identify which were female and which were male -- and to itemize the reasons s/he believed as s/he did. It opened a VERY interesting conversation on the nature of gender.

Andrej or Andreja -- is one of the most beautiful human beings on earth. Your suggestion has given me a pleasurable walk down memory lane.

    13. Yes, she is stunning and the inspiration for a few doll heads. I think there was talk that an IoS sculpt was based on her; Anima. Not sure how accurate that is, but I can see something of a resemblance. And someone did a direct portrait head. I now can't remember who. No one that I know has offered her as a female sculpt, though, which is unfortunate. I suppose a strikingly feminine man (when she was still presenting as male) is more exotic than just a striking woman.

    14. I'm loving the new face more and more.....I have Guarvo, and I love how ruggedly handsome he is. The new face looks more "classically handsome" with it's high cheekbones, fuller lips, and square jawline.

Speaking of handsomeness....I love your Misha Max. I'm getting an "Artist as Subject" vibe off him....He's so cool.

    15. @Alfie. Yes, I suspect the new head will be one of the most popular so far. It is more in the traditional BJD line than the previous heads. If I can scrabble together the money in time, I might have to have a head.

And that is an excellent idea for a character! I was so thrown with the whole Misha Collins thing (I have never had a portrait head before) that I just couldn't see past the Misha-or-not-Misha issue to an actual character. Yes! You are right. That picture at least looks like a contemporary self portrait painting. I don't have an artist character I should do a whole set of "self portraits" with him. Yup. Great. I have a direction. Thanks for that.

    16. Quick snap of Ntombi on the Raccoon doll mocha body, thought the neck might be a bit small but it is a very good fit, much better than some heads and bodies I own that are meant to go together, the colour is also a decent match.

    17. Avrilpaeony Could you show your Natombi on Raccondoll body standing next to Misha ?

    18. Yes I will try and get one in next couple of days if I can, bit crazy week at work this week.

    19. Just love these dolls. Am on with the ladies, but have ordered Thor as well.
I have also ordered some Iplehouse 5-6 wigs - that are for their fashion doll size - to see if they fit - will post when I try them.
Am enjoying the Misha and ntombi vibes alot.
@avrilpaeony - what sort of wig is she wearing?

    20. I can see him tucked away in a loft somewhere with painted canvases, and frames littered about the place. It's the feeling I got from the pic....He's awesome! Happy that I could add clarity. :)

    21. Ceejay she is wearing a Monique wig, I am at work but I can find the style name when I get home if you like. I have also ordered some of the Iplehouse wigs.

    22. For the mCC boys, I found a Monique 4-5 to be the best fit, in terms of not giving that Big Hair look you get with wefted wigs on a small scale and not going over the ears (one of my pet hates). So, I would think that would be plenty large enough for the girls. However, it took quite some effort to get it on and to get it to stay on. That's fine for me, as I am a detail freak and would rather spend ten minutes levering a wig on than days looking at a tiny head being swamped with hair. But, my priorities are not the same as those of others and I know there are many who would rather have a wig go on easily and don't mind the hairy look.

Alfie, yes, I have been looking at mini easels since that suggestion. Great!

    23. [IMG]

My Ntombi is albino, she finally got almost finished look. I think about her wig, but... I`ll make another one - snow white color

      • x 2
    24. @VictoriaSam - your girl is stunning :) What kind of hair will you try for the white wig?

    25. Thank you! Hair is sewn on the beanie - I took white synthetic yarn from the website http://formydoll.com
I think the white snow color it will be much better :)

    26. As requested, Ntombi on Raccoondoll body standing next to Misha, not a very good photo but I didn't have much time and back to work tomorrow.

    27. Elf eeeeeeaaaaaars!

      Ahem. Sorry.

      • x 1
    28. Hey! :aeyepop:When did he sprout those?:XD:.......

@MadamMauMau - Hmmmmm......I'm guessing by the sheer tone of your response....that you ;)don't like elf ears.;)

    29. I am generally neutral on them, but they look excellent on him. Would I like him better without? Possibly, but that is one incredible face and the ears are very well done.

    30. Didn't think that I'd want an elf - but I think that I might now...........
      A gorgeous face

    31. I am probably in the same boat. I am saying to myself that the elf ears are a good reason to skip this one, but then I look at the face... Let's see which side wins (and how much there is in the bank) when he goes up for PO. Heads don't count really, do they?

    32. It's a beautiful face, no doubt about it, and hardly surprising given the exceptional quality of her work. XD I definitely won't be going for the elf ears though. I associate the features with all of her work with being distinctly human, which is kind of a funny thing to say given that elves don't actually exist. Nonetheless, I'd except something more fine-boned and finer-featured for an elf versus a fair human male. Heck, even Orlando Bloom, who imo pulled off a male elf pretty well, could've been juuuuust a little bit more fine-boned, although that goes into the realm of impossibility because humans aren't built that way for practical reasons. :XD: I suppose that's what dolls are for! While it's true that there are many of those "fantasy" elven types that fit what I'm describing, I dunno, they aren't exactly right to me either, because their realism is clearly not all the way there. I do believe it's feasible to create a creature of fantasy that'd look "right" in our world, and if anyone's capable of it, Agattielle's definitely one of those. This one in my opinion isn't it though, but it's totally valid it for others he is the perfect physical manifestation of an elf. :)

    33. This is the trouble when an artist depicts a fantasy creature that means a lot to us. If it is slightly off what our vision is, it is unbearable. I can't read most vampire books or see most vampire films for the same reason. I keep leaping up to say "But it's not supposed to be like that!" Funnily enough, vampire dolls don't hit me the same way and I can just go "Meh" and move on. But I do understand that feeling very well.

    34. @MadamMauMau and @sno4wy I also understand that feeling as well. Part of me is always poking fun at the fantasy creatures - partly because of the wonderful Terry Pratchett Discworld series - but even there - there are definite ideas in my head of what things should look like. Discworld Elves were quite ugly really - it was their projected "glamour" that made them enticing - drop that and they were a very unattractive race - but that was the satirical Discworld for you -lots of things were topsy turvy. I find it very difficult and disappointing to see a film of some of my most favourite books - whether real or fantastical as they never match up to what is in my head

    35. Luckily for me, I have no strong feelings with respect to elves. I have had one elf doll, who didn't last long. I do currently have two Half Elves, so I suppose that makes a whole one.

So, yes, I have no preconceptions about what elves are like, so this chap is as much like an elf as any other. The only reason I would be more tempted with a head with human ears is for the versatility. The elf ears limit him to being a fantasy character. But that's OK. I'm sure I could do something with that.

    36. I also don't have any attachment to elves, and I can't ever see myself owning an elf doll because I'm just not that into them. XD Even in fantasy settings I invariably find myself being drawn to the human variant the most. Guess I'm unimaginative like that. ;P

While I love all of the head sculpts that Agattielle's made, I'm waiting for "Mr. Right" to come along. After he comes, if he ever does, I'll get the others to fit around him. XD Weird approach, I know.

    37. I think it blatantly unfair that the elves are always being thought of as better looking than the dwarves.

(This message brought to you by the dwarves are for the dwarves committee. )

      • x 1
    38. I don't think they're better looking, just different looking. o:

    39. that is speciescist and prob against the campaign for height as well. I think we are carrying on with the Discworld aren't we?

    40.

    41. Handsome is as handsome smells. Or something.

I like the elf guy too but have made way too many impulse buys this year and had to draw a line. It's that or the food line at a homeless shelter for impractical doll shoppers.

P.S. "The dwarves are for the dwarves" is a quote from C.S. Lewis The Last Battle in which the stubborn dwarves condemn themselves to a hellish existance confined in a small dark hut for eternity because they refuse to open the door and step out into the paradise that awaits them. It is one of the most profound theological allegories in his Narnia books IMO.

    42. Hi guys, I completely don't have time for my dolls, I won't even mention any activities on the forum, or even this thread.
Nobody missed me, so it's grand :D
I need to say "bye" to some of my dolls, due to some financial needs.
I was making some doll photos, so I also took out Shiki and played with him a bit - just for fun :)
Probably some of you, saw it already on Flickr, but I thought I will let you all know, I'm still alive, and from time to time, I'm checking this thread :)

Sorry for messy English...I'm really tired recently with all the changes and turbulence in my life and didn't have to many chances to talk with other ppl in other language than my own lol.

    43. That is an awesome photo.

Sorry to hear life has been rough. I have also been selling dolls. No money! At least we have those sorts of assets that we can liquidise pretty quickly. I for one am grateful for that. Silver linings, and all of that.

    44. I hope you have better times ahead. Best wishes to you, hane. You are very talented and certain to land on your feet.

    45. Sorry to hear that @hane . I hope things get better and you have plenty of support.
Lovely photo of Shiki, and I have certainly missed you and doses of your wonderful artwork to drool over
It's me that bought some 8mm eyes off Etsy from you recently and they are on their way to me now.

    46. thanks a lot for your kind words - I really appreciate it :)
I'm glad also you like what I did on that photo :)

ceejay - thank you for your support :) I've hope you will like the eyes :)

Madam - Yeah, sometimes dolls are good assets, but recently not really. It will be great, if someone will actually adopt one of my dolls :P but right now, no one is interested tho :<

    47. Hi guys I haven't been very active on doa lately. My ntombi is getting a face up right now and can not wait to show you guys.

Does any one know the size of ntombi eyes?

    48. Wow, I'm super behind in this thread but I saw the mention of elf ears and I had to have a look. He is absolutely gorgeous and I adore elves!

    49. 6mm or 8mm depends on your preference. The eyes she came with are 8mm with about a 3mm iris.

    50. OMG, her WIP of the newest guy... is that an aquiline nose I see in his profile sketch?

He might... he might be the one for me. Be still my beating heart... >_>

    51. Oooh. The new guy does look good. I missed out on her last preorder and still haven't done a lot with the girls. I wonder if this is for the slim body or the beefy body.

    52. If it could be possible, her sculpting is becoming even more assured.

So, who is this Vincent chap based on, I wonder? Nice, aquiline features. Bit of the Cumberbatch to him.

So, two new ones for the mCC body. I wonder if there will be a third or whether they will be offered with Guarvo and/or Ilya? I am out, unfortunately, as Triffony Artwork are releasing another one of those unmissable dolls and I don't even have money for that. Ah well. If that is too expensive, I might get an elf head as consolation.

    53. @MadamMauMau - Are you talking about her new project, "Alex"? Because if so, color me interested as well! XD

Is there a thread for her, btw? I never paid much attention because I wasn't interested in the sphynxes.

    54. No the kids (who may not be discussed on pain of...I don't know what). I made a Triffony thread here. Alex hasn't really come up in discussion yet as he hasn't got very far. However, he is shown on the website, so I am hopeful.

    55. If I trust the comments, and with the help of Google Traduction, it seems he is based on Vincent Cassel, a french actor.
I may be wrong, but is seems plausible.

    56. Oh yes! I know of Vincent Cassel. Yes, yes. I can see that.

    57. [IMG]

That is Vincent Cassel in the Beauty and the Beast - 2014 - image off the iMDb

    58. Yep, there goes my money.

    59. So Vincent, being a portrait sculpt, will only be a one-time release, right?

Also, are the heads for mCC versus mCCC bodies not interchangeable?

    60. I don't think portrait sculpts are automatically single release. Mr Hemsworth was the LE from last period, but Mr Evans seemed not to be. I am thinking Elf Man might be the LE this time round. I have no basis for thinking that, so probably best to ignore me and wait for the announcement.

I have a vague recollection of that being asked about the bodies and that the answer is no. See if neck sizes are listed and compare. Natalia is also very good at answering questions on Flickr, if you are on there.
