@ scrollbrush: thanxx, I got the curly short wig as a gift, from dollmore, I still use it a lot, tough it doesn't sout tangerine that well anymore after her new face-up.

Ooh congrats Snow! When you have her finished and I have my Luv finished, we should have a photoshoot with the four of them!

My Luuvvvv is still away for mods but looking very pretty, she's also getting her nose modded to be sharper..I have an idea and I hope the mold will work as it is a character I've been wanting for a while(Dilly's older brother). I'll see when the head returns, I suppose!

Raouken : Just beautiful this photo, even without faceups Zaolls look good.It's funny actually because I like rounded noses and Dollzone's dolls come with really pointed noses and the first thing I do is sand their nose to round it up, hahahaha

Snow: I hope you will love your new girl and I'm sure after fixing her up your way you will be satisfied but if you decided not to keep her please let me know and I will stay with her. Since you are in the Netherlands and I in Portugal......
Maybe her yellowing is just a minium and you might not even have to do much , good luck.

And Raouken, yes, yes we should! I'm hoping she'll be here before Dolliverse or so. Or at least here and presentable, harrharr. She comes with that huge purple limited dress, so she'll have a dress at least ;D I might dye it, but bot sure. Not sure about her character yet! When I look at my other girls (who seem to act in pairs) she should be the opposite of Ebrill (sadness) but because I only want one of each haircolor, she needs to have black hair. And as "happiness" I'm not sure if that'll be success. I think she might just be virtue or something. Patron of all things good, but not too darn happy all the time.
Guess I'll see when I get her X__x As usual!
I'm excited tho. Something about the Luvs always drew me in, but strangely not enough to actually go out and buy one. But for this price, I think I'd smack myself in the head if I hadn't done it >__> Even though the shipping is 50 bucks X_X

I just heard from the artist that Damane's face up is done and everything is good, now I'm just waiting for her to be shipped. I really can't wait but I used the time well yesterday and made her a Gothic/Victorian/punk skirt and top I just used left over fabric from my mum's sewing projects but now I can't wait to go shopping for supplies

 

Raouken and Snow , you two seem to be living near each other which is so great and I wish I had Portugese people with Zaolls near me. We have so little meet ups here and they never seem to want to get together more often although they will have a swap
soon but most of them have Minnies which I don't have. Hope you two can get together soon and join heads together and come up with new ideas for the dolls . Enjoy yourselves.

Dilly is so gorgeous! I love his - it's he, right? or her? - lips!

And Snow, congrats! What a bargain. That's a really good deal, even with the yellowing. If you ever decide to let go of the dress, let me know...my Claudia needs something like that.

Stef-su: I think you did a really great job on the faceup! She does indeed look very vampiric and elegant.As for the lips, how are you doing them now - paint or pastel? If pastel, usually I fill in the lips gradually, layer by layer, so that it doesn't become grainy and so the colour is thicker and even. I also use blu-tac or eraser to pick up any pastel that escapes her lip line. If you're using paint,you could maybe draw her lip line with a watercolour pencil first, then carefuly paint in the lips.

Thanks for your sweet comments, guys Haha Chizzie, he's supposed to be a gender switching being who got stuck between sexes, so he and she both work! I seem to also have days where I consider Dilly a boy, and days where I'm convinced he's a girl xD

@Snow: Oooh will you be taking your Luv and Ebrill if she's there? I'll probably get Alizee(Luv..)back at Dolliverse and I plan to make a dress matching with Dilly and then take them both and have Hasel do his/her/it's face-up right there so they'll be together xD I'll actually need a different body for Alizee than the Zaoll body because he/she is supposed to be taller than Dilly, and I should really get two bodies because Alizee can change sex at will(like Dilly used to be able to), plus he'll need to be tanned to a light, middle-eastern skintone, and get TONS of tattoo's, and and and...it will be a nice project xD But for now he can stay on the Zaoll body, while I search for not one, but two bodies that will work..I hope your Luv will arrive in time and maybe we can take a couple of pics of the four of them at Dolliverse

You guys are so lucky to pool your Zaolls in the Netherlands! I've noticed that most Dutch dolls are simply amazing. Maybe it's a country-wide talent, or something ^^ Between dev_kimiko and I there are at least 4 Zaolls in Sydney....unfortunately one of hers got stolen. (So if anyone sees a Zaoll Luv with custom faceup + scar on one cheek floating around...)

Btw, are we going to do a Zaoll Christmas swap? That would be exciting!

 

Chizzie: I agree if we are going to do the swap we should start planning now.

Here in sweden we are around 4-5 zaolls (all luv) my friend thinks I might have started a zaoll craze tho gretchen was not the first but certanly the one with most attention.

 

I think we have about ten Zaolls in our little country or so? O.o quite alot.

But Raouken, I think I don't have a choice but to take her if she's in time I'm hoping it will take two days max to fix her up a bit, and since she's already on her way, I think it'll be fine ;D Can't take too many dolls this time tho xD I'll have six but I can't take them all D: I think xD I'm doing a fecaup workshop (two actually), and I want to keep my eye on them. last time I had a basket with me, but I think two Zaoll's is a nice amount of dolls to take with me ;D maybe a Minifee aswell. I have two new ones since last time, so I can't help but show them :B
And man, Alizee is going to be amazing, simply amazing. I was going to suggest the Supia body (love those bods) but that'skindof difficult if you need a male body aswell :P I'm really eager to see how he will come together c:

I was thinking about a Supia body as well, but there's another sibling in the story and I wanted the Supia body for that one(and if the Luv head works for Alizee, perhaps a Rami head for Cyrille-the oldest of them-, it would be cool to have the 3 of them together! And I really like the owner pics of Rami so far)and I wanted that one to be tallest, so Alizee will have to be inbetween Dilly's 52 cm and Cyrille's 60orso cm..I was hoping for a Limwha body for the female one but I've read it doesn't work..;-;

On that note, anyone have any ideas for bodies? XD I've looked at the hybrid thread, but perhaps there's more ideas/experiences/wild guessing. Resin match is not important since he'll get a different skintone anyway. Both male and female bodies are welcome, I'm looking for something quite slender and elegant for the male body(so no Manly Man)and something with a bit of curves for the female body..

I'm looking for things for my incoming Luv (think I might call her Branwen) but probably none of it will be here before Dolliverse, if I'm even ordering it yet. Still trying to figure her out. She'll have black hair, that's for sure, and I know what shoes I want, but I;m having trouble finding that perfect outfit for her xD Just like with Ebrill. Zaoll is such a silly size, and the clothes I like are non existent.

I'm thinking about what I want for Alizee's face-up, it's silly because he was one of the first characters I made up for a doll, and I have a definite idea about his style and colors, just nothing very specific yet..just..a lot of black, very sharp and very creepy..silver eyes probably and black hair with grey streaks..but I think I'll need him here and play around to find a final look..I just hope the Luv mold will be creepy enough XD

And lol, I totally read over your question. I was thinking of just giving her a natural faceup, because I might also use her for a cosplay I'm working on, and she'll be the mini version of the character from another dimension (makes no sense, I know). And she has very little makeup.
But knowing me, I'll probably feel the need for a little more edge. I also hope the Luv mold is creepy enough. I love odd molds, and the odd ones grow on me much faster than the more normal ones. So I hope she will strike me as weird.
Silver eyes are always good. I had the same with Ebrill tho. I knew what colors I wanted it in, but I had no clue about the specifics, so I just made a mood board with multiple makeup pictures and showed it to the faceup artist. Worked like a charm ;D

I'm excited to see how the de-yellowing will go! It worked really well for my French resin tanned Narae, so I bet it will go well with your Luv!

She looks incredible! I think it's really hard to get lips done right with acrylics, but as long as you take your time you will be fine. I usually do the linework, then fill in the lips if I want a more opaque lipstick look.

I think one thing to keep in mind with hybriding is how tall a body (that you want to use) is on its own without a head. Some bodies are actually quite short (and their original heads are taller and bigger), so when you put a petite head on them, the end product is still a shorter doll. I think Supias are really nice girl bodies for Zaoll heads. Limhwa bodies are too robust to hybrid with unfortunately (even though I like the sculpts a lot). Zaolls have such small heads that it makes it difficult for hybriding onto male bodies, so I don't really have any suggestions on that front. I think it would be good for a body that has slightly narrow shoulders.

Masala _Chai _Tea : Very interseting your comment about de -yellowing a tan Narae , so the yellow dissapeared but the Tan colour was ok ?? Wow ! that's really cool.

 

I put Ebrill in the horrible yellow wig and the antique dress again and she and two of my other girls got to pretend they were ghosts.

That's actually one of the issues with de-yellowing--with NS dolls, the red in the resin tends to be what leaves first. Therefore, as the red pigment leaves, more of a yellow tone might come out (if you started out with a peachy NS doll). Eventually, it becomes more and more of a yellow colour over time. This isn't the same for every doll, but it's definitely how it works for NS French resin dolls. De-yellowing my tanned girl definitely lightened her, but that might be because the original brownish red pigments don't exist in her anymore.

Scrollbrush -- Aww! Thanks! I really just read a lot and have been in the hobby since 2001 (as an admirer) and 2002 (when I joined the original DoA and started saving for my first BJD). I still find that I learn a lot as I go along as there are always new things coming out.

 

Why is there such a lack of purple dresses in the dollyworld? I'm looking around for Branwen, because the dress she comes with is a really nice color, but I'm pretty sure it will be too bulky for me and I can't find aaaaaanything D:
It's all lolita-ish and such ;_; I ordered her shoes, wig and eyes tho, so yay c: She's somewhere on/above the sea now.

Oh and Masala, I asked in the de-yellowing thread but no one replied. Baking soda is like salt right? And the peroxide is the blue powder used to bleach your hair?

 

Were you looking for a purple dress that's modern looking? I think I saw some nice ones at Sadol.

Oh, I think you can find it in Netherlands under the name of "Bicarbonate of Soda" or Baking Soda in Asian grocers or German markets. I think it's called zuiveringszout in regular grocery stores and should be in the herbs and spices section or in the baking section. The peroxide mentioned is the liquid form you use for cleaning wounds and would probably be found in a drug store in the medical section - waterstofperoxide. I hope that was helpful.

The peroxide tho, I have never seen it in liquid form. But then again, the only time I needed is was when I bleached my hair and that's done with powder. I'll have a look in the stores then!

I am sure you will be able to find the liquid peroxide. It's usually in drug stores where they keep ointments and bandages. The concentration and composition is different than what you use for hair bleaching.

Yes! Definitely just ask for it and I'm sure the store clerks can help you find it. I am really excited to see how the de-yellowing will work out. Almost everyone who has tried it got pretty good results!

Today I tried out Dilly's head on a Limwha body at a meet-up, and although the neck will need major sanding, the overall proportions were not bad at all! Shoulders were proportionate, hands were very proportionate, and though the Limwha body is a lot uuh..fleshier..bigger..than the Zaoll body it takes a little getting used to, but I was happy with how it looked! Both dolls were about the same age, and the resin match was good. So I'm positive I'll get a Limwha body for my Luv now and mod the neck! Yummy
