XiaoCream - Thank you so much! I really appreciate your reply. That helps a ton. It sounds like for eyes I should go with 18mm for those three and 9-10 wigs with some headcaps on Miruku/Kurumi to help fill in any extra space if they're too big.

Can anyone offer any insight to what eye and wig sizes work with Luna and Charlotte? I am having the most trouble finding information on Charlotte.

 

Charlotte can use stretchy 8-9 wigs and 9-10 wigs with the help of silicone cap. Mine wears 18mm eyes.

beamlette, wow, it was nice to see the comparison pictures. I don't have 1st. ver. of Yukinojo but for me the heads looks a little bit deferent from your pictures. Btw, I also had the same problem with new Yuki's wig, so I just gently stretched out the wig by hand before putting it on his head (as suggestion by VolksUSA).

Izam, just now I looked inside both my Yukis' heads, and "old" Yuki's number is 42; "new" Yuki's number is 100! (Also, it's fun to compare their head plates -- "old" Yuki's says 05, 12/DP14; "new" Yuki's says 12, 05/DP27.) Imagine, 58 head sculpts followed in nearly 6 1/2 years' time...

Ksusha, loved your SDGou/SD17 comparison pics! Though I confess to liking the SD17 body more...

 

Well, SD17 Shiro is sculpt #99, so I guess Nouveau Joe would be #100!

It's soooo small... >.< Most of my boys can't wear it.
Of course, only Noel~kun and Tsuyoshi~kun can...
They have the tiniest heads ever.
But even after a while they began fuming... XD

I wanted to buy it, but it was overkill with shipping that cost four time more that the magazine itself! And in the end when new collection of clothes appeared the magazine was already sold out -_- Well, I guess it's called tough luck.

Ksusha : Yes, it's the Airy Wolf wig... ^^;;;;; Volks' photos are always brighter than real life! It's actually dark brown, almost black~

 

Beamlette, thank you for the comparision shots between the first Yukinojo and the new one! There are features I love on both dolls, and I continue to be thrilled with the new Gou body. Honestly though, if I had deep enough pockets, I would probably get SD16 Yukinojo too!

Fran, Congrats on getting the Airy Wolf Wig, it looks great on your Tsuyoshi~kun! I appreciate you talking about the size, since I had thought of trying to get it for my Joe, and now I doubt he could wear it....'cause he seems to be a real fat-headed guy... Speaking of handsome guys, here's hoping your Shirou makes his appearance soon!

Thanks, Juli~ ^^ And yes, you should not get the wig for Gou Joe! >.< DarkRu got her SD17 Will to wear it at one time (and it looked REALLY funny on his head), but then her Souji stole the wig. XD I guess it is specially made for small-headed SD13/SDGr boys! My Kujoo simply refused it. It bounced off his head and couldn't stay no matter how hard I tried! Even on Tsuyoshi~kun the wig is still a little troublemaker. >.> The hole is too deep for his head so there's a gap on top... the sides hit his ears. >.< On Noel~kun, however, it fits like a glove. But he already has his default wig so no way he's going to get it, too similar! XD

 

Hi guys. I've been lurking for a while but I'm feeling guilty that I haven't posted a single pic of my new (and very first bjd) boy. I hope you don't mind me butting in to drop a pic. XiaoCream gave me some very helpful advice when buying him since I was very nervous, but now that he's home I can say that I have no regrets. He's even more beautiful than I thought he would be!

The Airy Wolf wig is adorable! But wow, is it really THAT dark? In the pics it looked almost blonde... like Classic Gold with a medium brown underneath. Usually their pics aren't quite this far off on the coloring! It's seriously seriously cute, however.

And-- they said it was DD-sized-- but it sounds more like SDGr-Boy-Only size. ;; Those guys have such tiny heads. I wanted my Sakaki to squeeze into it, so I hope it'll respond to a little coercion. Coercion and Velcro.

PS @mier, congratulations! Your Okita is adorable.

Jenny, it is dark in my room so maybe the absence of natural light made it seem darker? I might be able to take better photos of it tomorrow under natural light, in the morning! ^^ But really, in my hands, it's a very dark brown. It stretches quite nicely, though. So maybe your Sakaki can wear it. ^^ My Kujoo uses velcro, btw, but he has a balloon head. XD

 

Your new guy is absolutely adorable, Mier. Okitas have such great expressions.

And I really need to learn not to muck around with doll stuff when I'm stressed. I apparently completely lack the ability to resist sweet, innocent, puppy-eyed faces under those circumstances. <_<

My next Volks aquisition was *supposed* to be Miss Frillypuff Girly-girl, but somehow I ended up adopting a friend-of-a-friend's Sakaki instead. I can't really feel bad about that... I've been eyeing them for years, and Miss Frufru will still get her chance sooner or later... But GUH! So much for "best laid plans".

Mister Brightfires actually laughed at me when I said this was all his fault. >_>

 

JennyNemesis , fransyung : Color of the said Airy Wolf wig is Charcoal Brown (heat resisting fiber). There's quite many other styles with this color. You may have ever seen them before. To me it's dark brown, a little bit darker than Leeke Maroon and Bluefairy Khaki brown and less yellow hue, a lot lighter than Switch Sugar black, not sure if it's as dark as ChocoBrown since I have none ChocoBrown around to compare with at the moment.

It's pretty much like this in rather bright light.
This wig is also Volks Charcoal brown.

@turbow, thanks - I love Charcoal Brown, but those photos really didn't make that wig look as dark as that. Now, I will at least be prepared.

(And now I just hope that the wig's intended doll agrees to wear the goddam thing once I finally get it home, after all the hassle and fees. ;;^^)

Oh squee!! Squee love joy and standing ovulations! ZOMG you found one!! Yes, of COURSE the foofoogirls can wait when there are Sakakis to be had.... Sakakis may be tree spirits, but they certainly do not just grow on trees. Whenever they do pop up and present themselves and say "Take me home", therefore, they DO necessarily wreck your plans.

Besides, don't think of it as having your immediate plans wrecked-- think of it as the Universe trying to fulfill your long-term plans for you. The Universe knew how long you have wanted a Sakaki.

 

True enough... These guys just don't come up so often that you can easily wave one off with a "maybe later" when they do. The opportunity. It had to be taken. There was no choice.

Plus, there's the whole "distraction factor", which is seriously a bit of good luck timing-wise... If the PO is its usual self, this fellow should show up in Seattle somewhere near the middle of the first in-patient bit of FCM's chemotherapy cycle, and that may very well save some poor nurse's sanity. I know I'll have run out of things to obsessively clean and Lysol by then, and if I don't have *something* else to focus on, I'll end up driving those guys and gals absolutely bonkers. (Like my husband isn't going to do that, anyway. FCM is the kind of guy who can't sit around doing nothing for five minutes. After five days? Nasty drugs or not, he's going to be bouncing off the freakin' walls.)

I know I haven't posted here in a long time but I've been working on getting a lot of my unpainted heads painted I just got my Williams back from SDink (sadly he doesn't have a wig yet), finishing up my Heath, and just today finished up my Kujo girl, Penelope

I love her so much She turned out so cute... I'm hoping to get to do a real photo shoot soon but with the holidays coming up and working retail I doubt I'll have time so at least I got a simple portrait of her

 

Hmmm....I also got one of these wigs, have not received it yes though. Like Jenny, I thought it was light brown/blonde....may have to rethink on who will wear it now!

Volks split shipments into two. So some friends and I have to wait until December to get my airy wolf wig T_T

 

My Una arrived. The BW resin is lovely. I forgot that SWD has a single torso.... when I bought her. It is kinda weird since I have not had a single torso doll for years... but the body line is really beautiful

Congrats, anavel... The OE version of Una has the jointed torso, while the SWD version has the origin body with no jointed torso. She's lovely nonetheless...

Izam, so sorry to hear that. Volks is getting slower and slower.

 

hmmmmmm I do not have any single torso SD for a long long time.... I have become used to move and pose Lorina so it feels weird since I cannot move her upper torso

However, I think the hip/thigh area has more room so I can get her to sit straight and stand on her own as well. With the normal thighs (not the moving ones) her lower body does not sit as beautifully as Lorina but still nice

Audiencekiller - Kujo looks just fantastic as a girl, especially with that little smile. :3 I'm surprised I haven't seen more around who have taken the switch, she's wonderful!

Idrisfinn - Lex is looking pretty stellar there, especially with the lighting showing the muscle sculpting beautifully. Such lovely hips indeed. Was there a link to more? You mentioned a link in your earlier post.

 

I agree with MacaronTea. The Gou body looks really great when photographed with the right lighting! Totally worth the effort.

I was hoping to try some of my wigs on Soji today, but it seems that none I have fit him properly. I read that the DD size wigs are equivalent to an 8-9, is that right? I have an 8-9 fur wig which is huge on him, and a couple of Iplehouse 8-9s which I can only barely get on his head (and I am terrified or scratching his faceup while wrestling them on), and then the 7-8 Leekes I have are way too small T_T. Can anyone tell me what size from Leeke is good for Soji's head-size? I think I will buy some wigs just for him.

It's such a bugger getting clothes on him, especially because he can't stand, so I only tried on the one top and pair of jeans.

 

Hi~iii, Lex! Mr. Internet Idol gets more & more ripply every time I see him.

@mier, it seems like every company's brand of wigs is sized/shaped slightly differently. You may need to go through some trial-and-error. Iplehouse's 8-9 wigs run narrow, because their dolls' faces are narrow & their heads more egg-shaped. The Leeke 8-9 wigs I have tend to be wider, & shaped for very round heads. But, if you get anything with a stretchy cap, you can usually get them to squeeze onto dolls that're not-a-perfect-fit. (If you add Velcro, that helps even more. Velcro is the Great Equalizer.)

And yes, I too have noticed that what Volks calls "DD-size" heads/wigs can vary really wildly! My Ryoya & Masamune can wear those narrow Iplehouse wigs, but Shiro & Isao cannot. Soji could be on the wider side of DD-size, too. But he looks really adorable in that floppy Iplehouse hair. Perhaps a little Velcro will keep it on him.

 

Sorry to jump in^^' but all this talk of wigs has me suddenly nervous. I'll be getting a Chris head (yay!) in the mails soon and I just assumed he could wear the same 8/9 wig his previous incarnation wore. Is he more 9/10?? Or will 8/9 fit ok?

Guess it depends on whose Size 8-9 it is! ^^ Is it a narrow one or a bigger one, and is it stretchy?

Would need confirmation from an actual Chris owner, but-- Chris/Lucas is an old sculpt, and those old heads are big'n'wide, so I think he might be a 9/10. If his predecessor was a pinhead, you might need to go shopping.

If Chris has the same huge head as Lucas then yeah, 9-10 would be best. And to answer the other question, Leekeworld wigs 8-9 would fit well on Souji's head. Try also Switch wigs, the L one. No use trying Soom or Crobidoll or Luts. Their wigs are mostly 9-10 and too big for Souji.

 

Huaaa I've been to busy lately and when I come back it's already 10 pages more XD;;a *or around that...*

Souji have a small but round head, I have several leekeworld 8.5-9 wigs that fits my souji, also DoD DoT size fits well, and soom 8-9 limited supergem/mega gem wigs only. ^^

here is my souji on leekeworld wig 8.5-9 inches ^^


I think lucas have 9 inces head... so it would fit 9-10 inces... but I think Leekeworld 8.5-9 can have it since it has a stretchy wig caps ^^ hope this helps~

At first I thought I would only get Soji because it was really love at fist sight when I saw his pics, but after receiving him and seeing how gorgeous the quality of the Volks dolls are I want to collect more. Ideally I am aiming to get the ones I can get my hands on from the Echoes Of A Beautiful Banquet line, but there are a few others I like too just because they are gorgeous. Hijikata and Williams will be coming in next week - I'm so excited!!!

I love seeing everyone's gorgeous dolls here. Unfortunately I can't do faceups or anything like that at this point and my photography skills are crap but it's amazing to see what others can do! I had a sneaky-peek at Darkru's DA after seeing her beautiful Soji, and wow, her boys are all lovely. I hope to have a really nice collection like that one day.

My spoilt princess, Sachiko, celebrated getting new shoes and a new wig by going to the photographer... Both shoes and wig are by Crobidoll.

 

She looks lovely, QQ... ^^ The shoes are sold by Tata. I got one pair, too, but in dark brown~ ^^

 

Thank you, fransyung! About the shoes, I don't think they are by Tata. Crobi sells a lot of Tata's shoes, but these don't seem to be. It says Crobidoll in the shoes, and I don't find them on Tata's page... But Crobi has them in two versions, cream-and-beige and cream-and-pink.
